A/n: Hi, I just want to say that even though this is a short chapter, it took me a while to finish it because I got sick, again

Dragon swap

One day in Berk Hiccup and Blake were at the academy with their dragons by their side talking about a new training exercise that Hiccup came up with

"Hold on, we're going to do what?" Blake asked confused

"We're going to swap dragons for a day, we never know when we'll have to work with someone else's dragon" Hiccup explained

"You have a good point, but I'm still not completely sure about it" Blake said rubbing the back of his head

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of Thunder" Hiccup said

"I know that you will, but even though he's not a mischievous or disobedient dragon, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who he listens to" Blake said

Then, Thunder noticed a basket full of fish so he tried to walk towards it in order to eat

"Don't even think about it, Thunder" Blake said glaring at his dragon "I already gave you enough fish this morning, so get back here"

Thunder only grunted before walking back to his ride's side with an annoyed expression on his face

"That's better, good boy" Blake said scratching Thunder's chin making him purr "See?"

"I think that I can handle him" Hiccup said

"Also, normally he doesn't let anyone but me ride him" Blake said

"I've already ridden him before, remember?" Hiccup said

"You're right, I forgot about it" Blake said rubbing the back of his head "Okay, so, when are we starting?"

"Tomorrow in the morning" Hiccup said "Meet me here when the sun rises"

"Very well, see you tomorrow" Blake said

The next morning after the sun rose, Hiccup and Blake were at the academy with their dragons just like they agreed

"Please don't cause any trouble, Thunder" Blake said petting his dragon's head "Just do what Hiccup tells you to do"

"Toothless, today you're going to switch places with Thunder, so you'll be Blake's dragon just for today, okay?" Hiccup asked looking at Toothless who looked a bit hesitant "Don't worry he's going to take good care of you"

Toothless and Thunder looked at each other and walked to be next to the other's rider

"Just a quick advice, if Thunder starts to act aggressively, just give him a gentle scratch under his chin and that should calm him down" Blake said "Also, sometimes he can be hard to deal with"

"Thanks, I'll keep it in mind" Hiccup said "Also, I modified Toothless' saddle so you can properly control his tail fin"

Then, they four of them walked outside of the academy ready to start with the exercise

"Okay, Thunder, let's start with a flight around Berk" Hiccup said getting on Thunder's back but he didn't move

"Thunder" Blake said in a warning tone so Thunder started to fly, but then Blake realized something

"Wait a second… Hiccup! How does the tail fin work?!" he asked but Hiccup and Thunder were too away to even listen to him, so he looked at Toothless "This is going to be a rough day, isn't it?"

Back with Hiccup, he and Thunder were still flying around Berk

"Alright, everything looks fine" Hiccup said "Is there something that you and Blake do to make your flights more interesting?"

When Thunder heard that, he couldn't help but to smile, suddenly Thunder launched Hiccup off his back making him scream

When Hiccup was about to crash into the ocean, Thunder caught him with his paws and threw him up

Finally, Hiccup landed back on Thunder's back "O-okay… that wasn't what I had in mind" Hiccup said

On their way back to Berk, they encountered Astrid and Stormfly

"Blake, did you hear that- Hiccup? What are you doing on Thunder?" Astrid asked when she saw that Hiccup was riding Thunder

"It's a training exercise, Blake and I swap dragons for a day, that way we'll know how to work with the other's dragon if something happens" Hiccup explained

"That doesn't sound like a bad idea, wait a second, you were the one who screamed?" Astrid asked

"Well… yes" Hiccup admitted a bit ashamed "Let's just say that I shouldn't have asked Thunder to make the flight more 'interesting'"

"So, if you are with Thunder, means that Blake is with Toothless, right?" Astrid asked

"Yeah" Hiccup said

"And, did you explain him how to control Toothless' tail?" Astrid asked making Hiccup realize his mistake

"Oh no, I forgot to explain him how it works, we better find him" Hiccup said

Meanwhile with Blake, he and Toothless were at the cove trying to find out how does the tail fin work

"Now… if I'm not mistaken you should be able to fly like you normally do" Blake said getting on Toothless' back before opening the tail fin

Toothless started to fly without any issues until Blake closed the tail fin making Toothless crash on the ground

"Okay, that didn't go as I expected" Blake groaned in pain as he and Toothless got up "Let's try again"

They tried multiple times but all of their attempts ended with them crashing on the ground "Ugh! I helped Hiccup when he made this! Why can't I figure out how it works?!" Blake said to himself

Then, he looked back at Toothless and realized that he was looking at him like he was insane "I really need to stop talking to myself" Blake said

"I-I think that it's going to work this time" Blake said getting on Toothless' back

Toothless started to fly again but Blake forgot to open Toothless' tail fin making him roar and crash on the lake

"This brought you back some memories too, huh?" Blake asked when he and Toothless swam to the surface

Toothless only growled and swam back to the shore hitting Blake in the back of the head with his tail

"Ouch! I'm sorry, okay?!" Blake said before swimming back to the shore as well

A few moments later Hiccup and Astrid with the dragons landed near by

"Guys, what are you doing here?" Blake asked

"We were looking for you because I forgot to explain you how does Toothless' tail fin work" Hiccup explained as he and Astrid got off the dragons' backs

"Yeah, I noticed" Blake said gesturing at himself

"Why are you beaten up and wet?" Hiccup asked

"Seriously? You're asking why do I look like this?" Blake asked rising an eyebrow

"Oh… right… sorry" Hiccup apologized

"You should put some dry clothes on before you get sick" Astrid said

"You're right, I don't want to catch another cold but… could you help us to get out of here, please?" Blake asked "And… could you please help us to go with Gothi too? Everything hurts"

Later that day, Hiccup went to get some food for Thunder

"Now, what should I give Thunder to eat?" Hiccup asked looking at two baskets "I guess that I'll give him some mutton"

Then, Hiccup returned to his house where Thunder was waiting outside taking a nap, but when he seemed to smell the mutton, he woke up

"I don't know what Blake normally gives you to eat, but I brought you some mutton" Hiccup said placing the basket on the ground and opening it

The moment when Hiccup opened the basket, Thunder immediately started to eat like a maniac, leaving Hiccup speechless

It only took Thunder a minute to finish eating and looked at Hiccup like nothing happened

"I should ask Blake if that's how you normally eat, Toothless doesn't eat that fast" Hiccup said still in shock "I just hope that you don't get a stomach ache"

Hiccup started to walk into his house but he stopped when he heard a groan behind him, so he turned around and realized that Thunder didn't look so good

"Aw, great" Hiccup said

Meanwhile, Blake who now had some dry clothes on and had a few bandages over his body, was in the forge looking for something

"Where is it? I can't find it anywhere" he complained

"What are you looking for, Blake?" Gobber asked as he entered the forge

"My spear, have you seen it?" Blake asked

"No, I haven't seen it, but why do you need it?" Gobber asked "We're not under attack"

"I know but I want to go and train with Toothless, that's why I need my spear" Blake explained

"Well, where did you last see it?" Gobber asked

"Hmm… it was this morning, I always keep it in my room" Blake said "Wait a second"

Blake exited the forge and walked to the side of it, just to find out that Toothless was using his spear as a chewing toy

"Toothless!" Blake said angrily taking Toothless by surprise "Give me my spear back"

Instead of doing as he was told, Toothless continued to chew Blake's spear

"Toothless, I'm warning you" Blake said firmly giving Toothless a killer glare

Then, Toothless growled at Blake in an intimidating way, but he kept his posture

"Last warning" Blake said

Toothless was now uncomfortable for Blake's glare, but then he started to get a bit scared, so he decided to obey him to not risk to make him even more mad

"Was it too hard?" Blake asked picking up his spear "And now I'll have to clean this up"

Later that afternoon Hiccup and Blake were taking a flight to see their progress with the other's dragon

"Blake, calm down" Hiccup said looking at Blake "You're really tense"

"I can't help it, I already lost the count of how many times Toothless and I have already crashed" Blake explained

"As long you remember what I told you, you'll be fine" Hiccup said

"Fair enough" Blake muttered "So… how has your day with Thunder been?"

"It's been all nice, except for the part when he launched me off his back" Hiccup said while Thunder smiled when he remembered that "Is that something that he normally does?"

"Yes, it's totally normal, he likes to do that in random moments during a flight to make it more interesting" Blake explained but he tensed when he thought that he was falling of Toothless' back

Suddenly a big wave of air appeared, Hiccup and Thunder didn't have any problems to deal with it, but Blake got nervous and forgot what he had to do in that type of situation and thanks to that, Toothless and Thunder slammed into each other

The four of them crashed in the forest and ended on top of each other

"What was the point of swapping dragons for a day, again?" Blake asked in pain

"I don't even know anymore" Hiccup groaned "But I'm staring to think that it was a bad idea"

"You're not the only one" Blake said before the dragons grunted in agreement

After a painful walk back to the village, when they arrived, the first thing that Blake did was walking straight to his room, but when he arrived, Toothless started to nudge him

"Toothless, what's wrong?" Blake asked, Toothless only gestured at himself

"Are you trying to tell me something?" Blake asked confused

Annoyed, Toothless started to walk away, so Blake decided to follow him, eventually they arrived to the storehouse

"Oh… you're hungry, aren't you?" Blake asked and Toothless nodded as an answer "Okay, go back to the forge and I'll get you some food"

Toothless nodded a second time and returned to the forge

Minutes later, Blake returned with some fish for Toothless who happily started eating

"Huh, you definitely control yourself more than Thunder at the time of eating" Blake chuckled before patting Toothless' head

Later that night, Hiccup was in his room with Thunder

"Thunder, since you're staying here for the night, you'll sleep on Toothless' spot, so make yourself comfortable" Hiccup said

"Hiccup, I'm home" a voice said downstairs, it was Stoick

"Oh, dad's here, I'll be back in a moment" Hiccup said before walking down stairs

When Hiccup was gone, Thunder looked at the rock that Toothless uses as bed, so he got on it and laid down and closed his eyes in order to sleep

However, after three seconds, Thunder opened his eyes and got up not feeling very comfortable, then he tried to lay down on his side, but that didn't work either

After multiple attempts of trying to find a comfortable position to sleep, he decided to go down stairs, once he was down, he laid down next the table where Stoick and Hiccup were taking dinner

"Son, what is Thunder doing here?" Stoick asked confused

"It's a long story" Hiccup said as he and his father looked how Thunder peacefully fell asleep

The next morning, Hiccup and Blake reunited at the academy to end their "training exercise"

"I have to admit it, Hiccup. Controlling Toothless' tail is really hard, it's very admirable that you know how to do it" Blake said "My body is still sore for how many times he and I crashed"

"Thanks, but you were right too, Thunder can be hard to deal with sometimes" Hiccup said "How do you always make him to behave properly?"

"I'm firm but gentle at the same time, and if that doesn't work, I'll have to forget of being gentle" Blake explained

"Well, I guess that we learned something about the other's dragon" Hiccup said "But I think that it's time for us to finish with this exercise"

When Hiccup finished talking, Toothless and Thunder didn't hesitate and walked to be next to their rider's side, before nuzzling them happily

"I missed you, bud" Hiccup said hugging Toothless

"It's good to see you, Thunder" Blake said hugging his dragon as well, but then he yawned "Well, I'm going back home, I'm kind of tired"

"Go ahead, I'll take a long flight with Toothless, would you like that, bud?" Hiccup said as Toothless happily nodded

Finally, they left the academy and followed their own path
