Wales Health Center, the second largest building on Patch. From basic checkups to brain surgery, from geriatrics to pediatrics, even veterinary needs. Everything medical related on Patch is done at Wales health center. On top of that, one of the services that the Center provides that goes somewhat underappreciated, is the fact that it also acts as the island's orphanage.

Thus, as Ruby and her friends approached the building, they arrived to the familiar sight of multiple kids running around in a small playground, a small handful of staff keeping their eye on them.

Among the staff was a familiar female doctor, having shoulder length red hair and blue eyes, with large C cup breasts, wearing a lavender shirt and black skirt under her lab coat. Said doctor looks over to see the group coming before waving over two of the volunteers working there and points them to the group.

One of the volunteers was a girl with the same red as the doctor, though hers reaches mid back, and green eyes. She wore a lime green tank top that showed her navel and a small amount of cleavage from her small C cup breasts, and some blue jeans that molded around her well sculpted, bubbly ass. The other was a male with short, shaggy blond hair and brown eyes wearing loose brown cargo pants, and a loose faded red t-shirt over a loose, dark blue long sleeve shirt. As the two looked over the group waved to them, prompting the pair to begin running over to the group, the doctor walking behind them.

As they ran over, the girl effortlessly vaulted over the play structures, while her male companion tripped over them and fell face first into the ground, much to the amusement of the children behind him.

"Morning Kim, Moring Ron!" Ruby called.

"Hey guys." Kim said as she reached them, the rest giving their own greetings as Ron slowly came up behind Kim.

"Xiaos it going everyone." Ron said once he reached them, earning him a chorus of groans from everyone besides Yang, who laughed as she responded "I would say it's going pretty Yang well."

It was at this point that the woman in the lab coat came put her hands on the two blondes' shoulders. "Now kids, what have I said about being a bad influence on the children."

"Relax Ms. Dr. V, 's all good."

"Yeah Dr. Vertible, nothing wrong with helping these kids have a good sense of humor."

Dr Ann Vertible raised her eyebrow. "The key word here is 'good' you two."

The pair stuck their tongues out at the doctor as the rest of the group ran over to play with the kids, except for Ruby and Marvos.

"Um, speaking of the kids." Ruby spoke "How is Cindy doing?"

Ann sighed, shooting a quick glance at the black-haired girl, an extra pair of eyes indicating her to be a spider faunus, sitting along the fence far away from where the rest of the kids were playing.

"Not good unfortunately, she hasn't opened up to any of the nurses or myself about anything. Normally this is when Ron and Kimmy cub would save the day, but even they haven't been able to get her to open up."

Ron looked down in frustration and disappointment as Marvos began speaking. "Its not too surprising she doesn't want to talk. Its only been a bit over a month since her parents died, and it took me about 3 to talk to people. Not to mention the event itself. I was lucky I at least didn't have to see my family die in front of me, she didn't have that luxury."

The others nodded in agreement as Yang added her two cents. "Dad basically went comatose for 2 years after Mom died. The only reason me and Ruby handled it so well was because she was so young and I had to stay strong for Ruby, even though he should have been the one to do that."

Yang said the last part under her breath as Ruby gave her a hug.

There was a heavy silence in the air, everyone thinking back to various struggles in their pasts. This silence was broken by a very high-pitched yawn coming from Ron. The group turned to him as there was a shuffling from his pocket before a small head popped out.

"Mornin" the naked mole rat known as Rufus said.

"Well then, that's enough of that." Ann said with a clap as Rufus ran over to sit on Zwei. "I believe it's time for you all to get back to your run, don't want to be late for school now do you?"

"Actually." Ruby began, looking over to where the rest of her group was playing with the kids. "There is one thing we need to deal with."

Ann followed Ruby's gaze before smirking and giving the girl an approving nod. Ruby responded with a smile as she walked over to Kim.

"Hey Kim?" Ruby said catching the girl's attention. "You know, its really important to be comfortable when running, and that top of yours looks really tight. It would probably be better for you to take it off before we get going."

Kim looked at Ruby with a raised eyebrow, then looked down at her loose-fitting tank top, then back at Ruby. "I don't think so, you just want to see me topless."

Knowing she was caught, Ruby instantly deflated. "Come on!" She wined. "Everyone else is going topless, even Neo!"

Indeed, rather than wearing her white top and pink shorts, she was now wearing some loose-fitting brown sweatpants with no top, revealing her breasts to the world as she used her semblance to play with the kids.

As he said this, two of the kids came up and pulled down his pants and underwear, pulling them out from underneath him causing him to trip and fall face first into the dirt as the two kids ran away with his clothes. "Why does everything hate me wearing pants."

Ruby gave Kim a look that said 'see', as Marvos helped Ron up, the kids laughing as Ron didn't even bother to try stealing back his pants.

Kim rolled her eyes. "Just because you all are going part naked; doesn't mean I have to."

"Come on Kim, please? I know you love being topless even more than I do." Ruby begged.

Ruby and Ann exchanged a celebratory smile. "I knew you would see reason." Ann said with a kiss on Kim's cheek. Kim herself blushed as Ruby and the rest of the group began towards the gate.

Just as they were about to exit the gate though, one of the boys came up to Ruby shyly, his face bright red and head down. "Um, Miss Ruby?"

Ruby looked at him curiously and knelt down in front of him. "Jamie, is something wrong?"

The boy rose his head, only to blush brighter as he got an eyeful of Ruby's bare boobs. Spluttering and unable to look at her, he eventually regained his composure enough to speak a full sentence.

Ann looked over the playground with a smile, watching as the nurse helped Jamie out with his problem. Turning, she saw a handful of kids playing tag around the yard, and another handful of kid on the jungle gym playing in a way you only see in certain Mistrali comics or on Patch itself.

Feeling the heat begin to get to her, Ann stripped down to just her lab coat as she thought back to her time studying at Atlas, and how jarring it was for her. 'James might be more comfortable back there or in Vale, but I cant see myself feeling comfortable anywhere but here.'

A few minutes later the group was well into the swing of things. Ruby had drifted over to Marvos and they had started talking about weapons. Ron and Neo were having a sign language conversation about something, though what was anyone's guess. And Kim and Yang were talking more about how the orphans were doing back with Kim's mom.

The group was currently running alongside the grimm barrier, and just as Kim said, her father was working on one of the towers just a little ways down the path from them. He was a tall man with green eyes, short brown hair, and wearing a brown denim jumpsuit, head deep into the tower with a tool box off to his side.

The man stepped back from his work wiping the sweat from his brow, looking it over with a small frown before turning to see the group.

"Well now, it looks like Kimmy cub and her friends are enjoying their morning run and, wait…. What the. KIMBERLY ANN VERTIBLE!" James Vertible yelled.

"Oh boy, here we go." Kim said under her breath before forcing a cheerful smile onto her face. "Morning dad."

"Don't you morning dad me young lady." James marched angrily up to his daughter. "Do you have any idea what you're wearing! Or more accurately, what you're not wearing!?"

Kim sighed. "It's fine dad."

"It is absolutely not fine; I will not have my daughter running around wearing less clothes than some corner prostitute. I thought you'd gotten over your shirt hating phase years ago! If it were Ronald I could understand, the world seems to hate it when he wears pants. ("Hey!" said man called in indignation, Neo giggling silently beside him.) But you, I know you don't have any issues like that. We are going home right now so you can-"

"Hey, Mr. Vertible?"

"Not now Yang. Can't you see I'm in the middle of… Oh." James turned to Yang to see her current state of dress, as well as Neo's and realized his mistake.

The man pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. '17 years and I'm still not used to how they do things here on Patch.' He then forced a happy smile onto his face. "Sorry girls, just the old Atlas man coming out again. You all enjoy your run; I'm just going to get back to working onnnn…"

James turned around to see a peculiar sight. Poking out of the panel on the hard light projector he was working on was a masculine nude butt, and a red pantie clad feminine butt. The two butts jiggled around as sounds of tinkering came inside, and moments later Marvos and Ruby backed out from the projector with satisfied smiles on their faces.

"Fuses 7 and 13 were fried and some scrap metal fused itself to some of the wires causing a short." Marvos said as he walked up to James, who looked particularly uncomfortable. "Don't worry, we got everything cleaned up."

"Thanks, that saves me some time." James said, pointedly not looking at them. "In any case, you kids planning to take your run through the grimm wilds, or do you plan to go around it today?"

The group looked to each other and most shook their heads. "I think we're going to go around today dad, take a trip through Crochet Port instead."

"Ah, taking the scenic rout I see." James said, still pointedly not looking at any of them. "Well, don't let me stop you from continuing your run. Have a good day kids." And with that, the man walked off before they could respond, clearly eager to leave them alone.

As the man walked off Ruby stared at him confused. "I still don't get why he gets so mad at what you're wearing sometimes."

Kim rolled her eyes. "Maybe it's because he doesn't want to see his daughter showing off her body everywhere?"

"Why would you being his daughter mean anything? Everyone likes to look at a nice pair of boobs, and yours are pretty nice." Ruby said, still confused. Kim sighed, not bothering to respond as she got back to running, quickly followed by the rest of the group.

Before arriving at Crochet port, our group of runners had to pass by what locals affectionately called "The religious district".

As the group ran through, they gave a polite bow to the spirit guides and cleaners maintaining the shrine to "The God of Beasts". Soon after though, trouble approached them in the form of a blond-haired man with an eye patch. His visible eye was a vibrant green and wearing ceremonial robes covered with eye markings, signifying himself as a member of "The Eye".

"Ah, Lady Yang, Lady Neapolitan, what a coincidence to see you and your lovely friends out here."

The group groaned in unison as the man approached them with the exception of Ruby, who shrunk down in on herself and tried to hide behind Marvos. Zwei also made her way over to her and looked towards the man with a low growl, Rufus glaring and growling with him.

Ignoring the two animals' actions, Yang leveled the man with a tired glare. "I would ask how you know my name and why you're talking like you know me, but I've met enough of you idiots to know already."

"Apologies for the familiar speech milady, it's just that I've heard so much about yours and Lady Neapolitan's majesty that I feel as though I know you quite well."

He then held his hand out to them. "In any case, I have come here hoping to invite you to come spend some time with your people in our temple. We would be very happy if you finally came and spent some time with us."

Yang growled as Neo shot the group a pleading look, which Ron took as an invitation to step into the conversation. "Hey man, we're kind of in the middle of our run and we're running a bit late. So could you just back off today and let us be on our way?"

The man looked at Ron with disappointment. "Now now my child, while I'm sure you only have their best interests at heart, the ladies can speak for themselves."

Neo naturally took offence to that and began "speaking", getting right up in his face as she mockingly mimicked ranting to his face, earning her a few chuckles from the group as the man put up his hands in surrender. "A figure of speech my lady, I am fully aware of your status as mute. But my statement still stands, you two are more than capable of portraying your own thoughts without relying on others."

Yang let out a frustrated sigh. "Ok, fine, say I came with you, what about my sister?" The man grimaced for a split second before adopting a very fake confused expression.

"I'm afraid I don't understand, you are an only child."

Yang got right up in his face with a glare. "No, I'm not. I have a younger sister named Ruby."

The man began sweating nervously as he struggled to find a response. As he did so however, Ruby nervously approached her sister. "Hey Yang, maybe we should just get going." Ruby moved to grab Yang's hand, but as she was about to grab it, the man slapped Ruby's hand as hard as he could and leveled her with a hateful glare.

"Don't you dare touch her you filthy khulgaich!" Ruby shrank back as Marvos, Kim, Zwei, and Rufus all moved in front of her. The man ignored this as he moved towards Ruby, seemingly intent on further attacking her, only to stop when he felt a very tight grip on his wrist. The man turned to see a very angry Yang, her eyes having changed from their typical violet to a very piercing red.

"DON'T. TOUCH. MY. SISTER." The man forced a cheerful smile onto his face as he tried to ignore the pain from his wrist. "Please my lady, you need not pretend you're related to that filthy khulgaich." Yang's grip tightened. "B-but if you're so connected to it, I suppose we might be able to find a kennel for it somewhere."

Just as it looked like Yang was about to snap and punch the man's other eye out, a new, feminine voice cut through the tension. "Now now, why don't we all just calm down for a moment, this is no place to start a fight."

The group turned around to see a young woman with grey hair approaching them from the opposite direction the man came from, dressed in a very nice dark red formal dress and wearing a necklace with a symbol indicating her to be a follower of Deus.

As the woman approached the group, Yang put down the man's hand with far more force than necessary (though she would argue it wasn't enough force), and moved over to her sister, wrapping her in a protective hug. The man leveled another glare at Ruby for a moment before putting on a fake smile and turning to the woman. "Ah, Nicoletta, what brings you out here?"

Nicoletta raised an eyebrow at him. "I should be the one asking you that, I heard a commotion over here and came here to see what's going on."

The man chuckled. "Nothing you need concern yourself with, I was simply discussing some things with some new members of The Eye."

"Really, because it looks to me as though you are harassing some students on their way to school."

The man put his arms wide. "Of what import is something like common school in comparison to furthering one's faith."

"I would say it's especially important." Nicoletta said with a raised eyebrow. "Particularly to your faith, considering how much it focuses on self-improvement. You wouldn't dare to take that away from any of these children, would you? They all deserve the right to become better versions of themselves."

"Well, excluding the-"

"ALL OF THEM deserve the right."

The man grit his teeth, visibly holding himself back from lashing out. "Yes, I suppose you're right. In any case, I must get back to my duties. Good day to you." He said, bowing to Yang and Neo who glared at him as he left.

Nicoletta sighed as she turned to the group.

"Those eye guys are all such dicks." Yang said as the rest of the group nodded in agreement.

Nicoletta simply shook her head. "They really aren't all that bad. As much as I dislike defending them, especially after such a display, it is largely a case of bad luck that all the members of the group you've met treat you so horribly. Having one sibling born with eyes they consider divine, while the other being born with eyes they consider to be almost as bad as the grimm themselves, you two really are cursed to have only bad encounters with them."

"That doesn't mean they have the right to act like that." Ron said, still glaring in the direction the man left, and Nicoletta sighed in response.

"No, it really doesn't, but there's nothing that we can do about it."

As the man entered the mosque he came out of, Kim shook herself out of her anger and turned to Nicoletta. "That aside, thanks for stepping in there. If you hadn't come when you did, I'm pretty sure one of us would have snapped and attacked him."

Nicoletta gave a wry smile. "Don't thank me yet, I didn't just come over to save you, I was also planning on asking you all a small favor." This got the attention of the rest of the group. "You see, some of our followers from Vale are getting married, and they decided they wanted to get married on Patch so we are currently preparing for the wedding. But because they aren't locals, they aren't exactly used to the local culture, so I was hoping…."

"You want us to take the long way around so we don't freak anyone out?" Ron spoke up as she trailed off.

"If you would be so kind, thank you."

"No big, we don't want to get in the way." Kim replied as the rest nodded.

"Thanks, I owe you all one." Neo then went through a long series of signs, occasionally pointing in the direction the Eye follower went as Nicoletta paled slightly. "Unfortunately, that goes against the rules of the church. And even if it didn't, I'm not sure I would be able to find the…. implements, you suggested."

Neo shrugged and signed a quick 'thanks anyways' before she started leaving, the rest following her lead with their own goodbyes to Nicoletta as she returned to her church.

As they continued their run, Ruby fell back behind the rest, still uncomfortable after their encounter with the member of 'The Eye'. Before any of her friends could comment on it though, Zwei jumped onto her shoulder and started licking her cheek while Rufus hugged her face from the other side.

This drew a smile to her face and a laugh out of everyone else, and with her cheer returned by the power of cute loving animals, Ruby led the charge into Crochet port proper.

As the group ran through the port, there were lots of workers milling about. Fishermen were coming in from their night fishing or preparing to go out to fish, dock workers were organizing the different deliveries to and from Patch, and over all everyone was keeping themselves busy.

Avoiding the passenger docks on the off chance some unfamiliar tourists were just arriving, the group made their way through to the local commerce area.

This area was bustling, many people going for their morning shopping, going to work, or just having a nice morning. And of course, many of the shop owners are calling out advertisements for their product.

From food. "Fresh fruit, just picked today, come and get some."

"Come try our signature triple fluff cotton candy puffs!"

"Hey Ron, didn't you say you were going to try make those yourself?" Kim asked.

"Yeah, but as I was making them, I realized I didn't have the right sugar, so I made that crumble instead."

"Oh yeah, that was really good. You need to make it again some day."

To wears. "Decorative knives, you want a fancy weapon to hang on your wall, look no further!"

Slowly but surely the group made it through the busy area of the port, having to go through the tourist commerce area to get to Signal. As they reached the edge of it though, they came across a sparrow faunus girl in clear distress.

Well, that took quite some time to finish. For those of you who follow this story, but don't follow me as an author, the reason it took so long for me to update this is because I got distracted by making a Ranma ½ story. Funny enough, I got about ¾ of the way done writing the first draft of this when I suddenly got distracted, and then I really couldn't bring myself to focus on this until recently.

Still, it's interesting to use this as a way to go back and see how I've grown and changed as a writer, even in these few short months. The big change I've made that before held this story hostage in particular is that I no longer hold myself to a word limit. When I started this story I tried to keep a hard 7k word per chapter limit, but over the course of writing my Ranma story that limit has been thrown out the window. Now I just write till I feel like I hit the right stopping point and said all I needed to say. Even beyond that, I can honestly say I feel like I've improved, which is the whole point of all of this, along with sharing my stories with the word, weird as they may be at times.

Also, small note, "The god of Beasts" in my thing is just "The God of Animals" from the OG, with some modifications to make it more fleshed out in my personal notes.
