"I hate needles."
"Trust me, I know," Soph told him. She was still somewhat shaky, so she had Echo holding the needle up to Fives. "But this is necessary."
"If I'd known you were coming here just to stab me, I'd have given you the knife back on Saki."
"Echo, do it."
"Don't squirm," Echo ordered Fives. The man screwed up his face when Echo took the blood. When he was done, he handed the vial over to Soph, who dropped it into the machine. She watched it work, bringing up different calculations. As she scrolled through the bloodwork, she hummed.
"Huh. Your white blood cell count is a little high. You might be getting sick," she told him. She kept scrolling until she found the number she needed and her eyes widened. "Force, Fives."
"What? Am I dying?"
"You should've been brought to the temple," she disagreed. "You're extremely Force sensitive. I knew as much, but I needed to see how… and you've got a midichlorian count nearly as high as mine, and my count is usually pretty fucking high."
Fives blinked. "What?"
"You should've been a Jedi," she clarified.
"What?" he repeated.
"I think he's broken," Hevy said, tapping Fives on the head. "Yep."
"I don't understand how… what?" Fives stared at Soph. "I should've- what does that mean?"
"It means I'm going to do an experiment," she said, leaning back and crossing her arms over her chest. "We'll talk about it later. For now, where the hell is Anakin? Obi Wan said he'd be here by now."
"Call him," Cutup suggested. Soph sighed and pressed some buttons on her comms. After almost a minute, she hung up with a sigh.
"He's here."
"He's here? How do you know?"
"He never ignores my calls, and I can feel… darkness," she winced. "We have to… come on."
"Where are we going?" Echo asked as they walked through the temple together.
Soph didn't answer him.
OoOoOoOoOoOo
"Skywalker, don't-,"
Anakin's fist connected with Ezio's face. "Stay the hell away from Soph."
Ezio had stumbled back and he swiped blood off of his lip. They were in a dark room that Anakin had thrown him into, catching him off guard. "You'll find Soph sees it my way now."
Anakin took a step forward, getting in the other man's face. "You're not going to talk to her again. You're not going to go near her. You're not going to do anything to her ever again, do you understand me?"
"You're never going to get on the Council like this," Ezio told him calmly. "I mean, if they didn't trust you before, they sure as hell won't trust you now."
The door slammed open, nearly hitting Ezio, and Soph stepped inside. "Anakin, what the hell did you do?"
"I punched him," he said simply. "And I'd do it again. I might, actually."
"Stop," she told him sharply. "Stop. He's… right, okay?"
Anakin looked at her with wide eyes. "Soph, you didn't do anything to deserve the way he treats you."
"She knows the truth now," Ezio told Anakin. "You should accept it as well. She's at fault for what happened, not me."
"Soph did nothing."
"She did everything," he insisted. "She overworked herself, she snapped, and she killed those people."
Anakin's eyes shot to Soph. "What is he talking about?"
Ezio smirked. "He doesn't know, Little Soph?"
"Please don't," she requested softly. "Please."
"Soph got Midichlorian sickness, attacked me, killed multiple people, and sold information from the temple when we were nine," he told Anakin. "And then she turned around and accused me of being the cause. Today she finally accepted the truth, and you're fighting for something that's long been over."
Anakin frowned at Soph. "He… what?"
"I'm sorry he punched you," Soph said to Ezio. "I'm going to walk him out now."
"Go ahead," he waved her on. "We'll talk about this later."
She grimaced, but she grabbed Anakin's arm and pulled him out of the room. She said nothing as she furiously walked him through and to the cruiser he'd taken to the temple. When they were there, he grabbed her arm to stop her from turning around and leaving. "Soph, what the hell?"
"I don't want to talk about it," she said quietly. "Go home."
"What he said, was he right?"
"No," Echo interrupted Soph. "I don't think he was. He gaslit the hell out of her an hour ago."
"I'm-," Anakin sighed in frustration and called Obi Wan. When he picked up, Anakin didn't even let him say hello before he started talking. "Did Soph actually attack Egan when they were kids?"
Obi Wan sighed. "What did he say to you?"
"He told me she had Midichlorian sickness and killed a bunch of people."
There was a moment of silence. "Anakin, drop it."
"How? He told me she killed her father!"
"Soph?" Obi Wan sounded confused. "What's he talking about?"
"One of the guards in the temple that I killed was my father," she told him quietly.
"Meet us at Zepho, both of you," Obi Wan told them. "I think it's time all of us sit down to discuss this."
