"Can we get a snack before we go looking?"
"There's no time. We've got to get to Odaiba and find the ninth kid before somebody else does."
"How else are we going to get there?" Mimi asked. "Do you think there's any fast-food places along the way?" I've facepalmed.
"Mimi, we get it, you're hungry," I jumped in before Tai blow a gusket. "We're hungry, too. But we need to take a subway home since we don't really have much money to buy any food at the moment."
"Subway?" The three of us look over at Joe. "Ohh, my parents won't let me ride the subway by myself." Even I'm getting annoyed.
"You're with us, Joe," I reminded him. "You're not going by yourself." I began to lead the way. "Come on, let's get down there."
"Are subways like regular trains?" Mimi asked curiously. "I mean, do they have snack cars?" Oh, my-
"MIMI! JUST DROP IT OR ON MY AUNT'S GRAVE, I'LL HAVE GAOMON FLY YOU INTO SPACE!" I honestly don't know how the two of us became good friends since we're completely opposite!
"Uh, Akane, you know I don't-" I hear him, glaring down at him and seeing him flinching away from me.
"Shut up, Gaomon."
"Yes, ma'am." Seeing him bump into Tsunomon after the little guy jump on his head, with the two being scared of me at the moment.
"Anyway," Tai cleared his throat. "Stick together, everybody. It gets kind of confusing down here." All of us walked over to the map section to see which train we should take that'll get us back home to the city. Hearing Thing 1 and 2, meaning Mimi and Joe, chatting about what are we going to do next besides starving to death.
I swear, if I hear her mentioning about food, I'm gonna toss her into my dad's big pot when we get to the restaurant.
"I'm just figuring out." That was from Izzy when we saw him working on his laptop. "Okay, that'll work." Then, he stood up and look up at the map. "Okay, the fastest route to get to Odaiba is number 12 to Nagano," He explained. "And then, transfer to the Marunouchi line. Then, transfer to the Ginza line and get off at Shinbashi."
"Huh?" Mimi was confused.
"Sounds simple enough," Tai said as he began to get his ticket. "Now we just need to figure out the right fare."
"What's that?" Koromon jumped in and began being curious. "What are you getting?"
"A ticket." Tai answered. "You can't ride the train without one." I went ahead put my fare in and get two tickets. One for me and the other is for Gaomon as my pet service. I look down at him.
"Gao, I'm gonna need you to act like my dog." Reaching for my knapsack to pull out a fabric I've found back at Mimi's castle.
"How come?" He asked curiously.
"So, you don't have to act like a stuffed animal like everyone else." I went ahead wrap the red fabric around his neck, not too tight or loose, and then, I held the other end and make a small loop, so the fabric would look like a leash. "Boom. How do you feel?"
"I feel a little weird," He confessed, but went ahead and sat down like a dog. "But anything to get by in the Real World, I'll do it for you, Akane." I smiled.
"Thanks, buddy." I brush his fur back and gave him a sweet kiss on his head, hearing him chuckle a bit.
"Smart idea, Akane," That was from Tai when I look over at the others.
"Thanks. Now, everybody got their tickets?"
A minute went by and all of us are waiting for the number 12 to come in, hearing Koromon and Tsunomon chatting a bit while Matt tells them to put a lid on it, which made me giggle a bit till we heard the announcement.
"Attention! Attention! Number 12 is now, arriving at platform 7."
"What? Where's that voice come from?" Koromon asked.
"You heard it, too?" Tsunomon said. "Then, it's not just inside my head."
"Something's coming!" TK called out when we saw the train coming in. Not until Koromon and Tsunomon to jump into the tracks that Myotismon appeared.
"Hey!"
"Watch out!"
"No, guys!" The three of us cried out for the two dummies when the train drove by. Hearing myself gasped and saying, please be okay couple of times when the train left, the two dummies were in the air, feeling myself relief after they landed on the ground.
"It's a good thing I'm the most normal Digimon out of the eight of us, right, Akane?" Gaomon said with a sweat drop look.
"You've said it, buddy." I agreed.
Another minute went by and all of us are inside the train. Seeing the team sitting on one seat by the window while I sat on one of the single ones with Gaomon sitting on the floor. More like lying down like a dog would do, which is a good thing, since the poor thing is exhausted and hungry for a long day we're going to have today.
"We can't take you guys anywhere." I heard Tai, seeing him gave Koromon a bump on his head while Joe and Sora gave them a disbelief, yet soft grin on their faces. I giggled at the sight, then I went ahead dig through my bag to pull out my book to read.
I've never gotten to finish it, so the train ride would be perfect for it. I went ahead open to a spot I've stop on until...
"Hey, is that the recent volume?" Hm? I heard another boy's voice. I look up and saw him in front of me. Meeting his brown eyes with curiosity, yet excited about my book I'm currently reading. He even has black long hair being pulled back as a ponytail and wearing a simple orange shirt with a pair of black pants and matching shoes.
He grins a little. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you. It's just, it's one of my favorite series and I've only bought five books so far."
"It's fine," I grin back. "And yeah, this is the sixth volume. This is where they're going to the mountains." He gasped.
"Is it really?" I nodded. "Awesome, I've been waiting for that adventure since they've mentioned it back on volume four."
"I know, right?" The two of us laughed a bit. "Who's your favorite character?"
"Adam," He said. "Who's yours?"
"Nanami." I spoke.
"Aw, she's so cool, isn't she?" I nodded.
"She really is," I agreed. "I just wish for Adam to hurry up and tell her already." He laughed a bit.
"You're one of those, huh?"
"Yep!" Not until I hear a commotion going on when I look over and oh, no. Poor little Yokomon, the baby won't let go of her stem and poor Sora is trying so hard not to move away while the others watch in horror. Me, as well.
"Uh, Akane?" I hear Gaomon. "What should we do?" I glance down at him.
"We can't do anything, buddy." I whispered, clearing my throat and look back at my new friend. "Sorry, my friends, they're trying to um-" He waves his hand at me with a grin.
"It's cool," He chuckles. "I can understand your friend's feeling, though. If I were her, I would've move away, so the baby won't break her toy." I snap my fingers.
"Right." Oh, dear. The baby won't let her go and the mother is trying her best-or making it worst-for him to let go of her.
"HEY!" She snapped. "Will you let go of me?!" I facepalmed and from my angle, Gao buried his face with his gloved paws.
"Oh, no." I said softly. The baby let go of her, all right, but everyone was looking at the team, mostly at Sora when she managed to say something.
"I guess my toy didn't like the way you pulled on her." Good thinking, Sora. NOT!
"Did you hear that? That stuffed animal talked." Oh, no. Things got worst. I sighed in disbelief.
"Did your friend's toy really talked?" The guy asked me when I look up at him.
"Uh, well, it's um," Crap, what am I supposed to say? Not until I hear Sora is trying to mimic-and failed-Yokomon's voice, causing myself to have another sweat drop moment. Really, Sora? Hearing the dad mentioning to his son that Sora is some kind of ventriloquist.
And then, the boy began to throw his tantrum. Aw, great! I lean down to Gaomon.
"Protect Sora, Gaomon," Leaning close to his face. "As a good guard dog, okay?" He nodded quickly and barked softly like a dog, so the man and his throwing tantrum son leave my friend alone, so did the lady with her baby. "Easy, boy, good job." Petting his fur, letting the two adults see that I'm calming him down.
Seeing Sora and Yokomon felt relieved when I stood in front of them. "Sorry, my dog is my service pup, but he also protects my friends when he senses something bad going to happen." Hearing Gaomon growl softly, meaning he doesn't mean any harm. "He's a good dog, but very protective."
Not until all of us heard the first stop, which is Narima. It gave me an idea. "If you guys wanna know where my friend gotten her toy, check out the department in Narima. That's where she and the rest gotten from."
Feeling relieved, the two adults and their kids left the train, felt Sora leaning against my back, which made me giggle.
"Thank you, Akane."
"No problem." Then, the guy came up to me.
"That was pretty cool you did there," He said, looking down at Gaomon. "Can I pet him?" Seeing my boy look up at me and I nodded with a grin.
"Sure, he won't bite." And he did, seeing my boy look so happy that he likes being petted, causing me and everyone else to laugh at the sight.
"Gotta go before the train moves again," He said afterwards. "I didn't catch your name. I'm Drew."
"I'm Akane, nice to meet you."
"You, too." He grins. "Hopefully we see each other again, so we can keep talking about the series."
"You bet." We both wave goodbye, then the doors closed for the train to move again. I look at the team and four out of the eight were giving me curiosity, yet slick look on their faces while two out of the eight were upset. "What? I was just making a new friend. Is that wrong?"
"Doesn't seem like Drew wanted to be your friend." Mimi giggled while I roll my eyes and went back to my seat with Gao.
I went ahead pick up my book and went back reading, ignoring the feeling that someone felt jealous about me talking to Drew. More like two were jealous, but why would I care what they think?
Anyway, I hear couple of them were getting ready to take a nap. "Go ahead, guys. I'll wake you when we get to Nagano."
"Thanks, Akane." Joe said, already falling asleep, along with everyone else while I smiled at the scene. I look down at Gaomon and he too, fell asleep. I smiled, then went back reading my book.

"Shinjuku, last stop. Shinjuku, this is the end of the line."
"Mm, Shinjuku?" I began to wake up from leaning my head on the armrest when all of the sudden, I gasped! "Oh, crap, we've missed our stop!"
"Akane, you said you were gonna wake us up!" Tai snapped.
"I'm sorry!" I snapped back after we got out of the train. "I've fell asleep, too, okay?!"
"You guys fell asleep right through it," That was Patamon when we all look over at him.
"Patamon, you were awake?" TK scolded his Digimon.
"Sure." Patamon answered.
"What's wrong with you? Why didn't you wake us up?"
"How could I? You told us not to make a sound." All of us sighed in disbelief.
"He has a point there." Gaomon agreed with a chuckle.
"What now?" Joe asked Izzy. "Go back to our stop?"
"No, it's out of our way," Izzy said. "But, I think we can change trains here and be okay." We began to walk out of the station with Joe and Izzy leading the way till Koromon decided to speak.
"How much longer? I'm getting awful hungry, Tai."
"Yeah, I'm starving."
"Famished."
"It can wait." Tai said, glancing back at the team. "Hey, I'm hungry, too, you know." I grab him by his arm.
"Come on, Tai, at least stop somewhere, so we can eat." I tell him, with the two of us looking back at the team, mostly at the Digimon.
"It has been a long time since any of us eaten," Matt cuts in. "And our Digimon gets weak when they're hungry." Looking down at Gao, seeing him lying down and does look hungry. I kneeled down to grab him and carry him after I taken off the fabric.
"Even Gaomon is very hungry, he can barely walk." I said, hearing him whimper a bit. Tai took a minute, then sighed.
"Okay." Causing the team to cheer a bit, then we began to find a nearest restaurant. But, I notice something. Where in the world did Izzy and Joe went?
Well, at least they find us with our Digivice, so I'm sure we'll meet up with them at a restaurant.

We've found a nearest restaurant that serve burgers, and everyone ate happily, especially the Digimon.
"I feel like a new woman." Mimi giggled since I'm sitting next to her and Palmon while the two Digimon also shares food.
"Man, tastes great."
"Yumilicious."
"Boy, I sure needed this." Sora grinned while I took a bite of my fry. Not realizing I've felt one at my forehead.
"Oof, hey!" I look up who did it and saw Matt barely took a bite of his sandwich, hearing TK, Patamon and Tsunomon giggling, which made me roll my eyes and grin at the sight. "Hey, maybe when we get back, if we ever get hungry again, I'll ask my parents if we can have some more burgers."
"Ah, that's right," Sora chimed in. "Your family owns a diner, right?" I nodded.
"Wait, what?" Mimi and Matt said in unison.
"Even I knew that." TK giggled.
"Akane, why didn't you say that before?" Mimi scolded, causing myself to shrug my shoulders.
"You two never asked," Hearing Tai and Sora laughed. Not until I've spotted a familiar red headed boy and glasses wearing boy, glaring at our direction. "Well, it's about time you two showed up."
"Hey, what're you guys waiting for?" Tai asked. "Order something."
"How, when you guys got have all of our money?" Joe scolded him.
"Whoops, we went and spent it all." Mimi grin, causing Joe to almost drop Gomamon after I jumped in and caught him. I place him with Gao and Palmon, so the trio can eat, hearing Sora explaining to our only oldest friend that we ordered the super-duper combo.
"Great, you spent it all." He said while shaking his head in anger. Wait for it. "THAT'S ALL THE MONEY WE HAD IN THE WORLD!" There he is.
"Dude, chill, you're causing a scene." I scolded him, seeing him look embarrassed by other people, who are staring at us while he walked away to go the bathroom, hearing him muttering about how we're supposed to be friends, which cause me to roll my eyes and hearing TK and the Digimon giggling at the sight.
"Look at that," I hear Izzy when I look over at him. "Now's the Digivice responding."
"So, why wouldn't it be?" Sora asked after I went ahead sat back down, getting the plate from her, so I can give it to Motimon and Izzy for them to eat.
"Well, it wasn't working at all, when I tried it in the station," He said.
"Really?" Me and Sora look at each other while I thought about it.
"I think it only works when we're either nearby or we're back in Digital World." I theorized, seeing Izzy nodded a bit.
"That's great," Mimi jumped in. "But, meanwhile, what're we going to do now?"
"We start walking," TK said. "They won't let us back on the train without any money."
"I'm sure not looking forward to walk all the way." Matt said.
"Maybe I can give all of you a ride," That was from Gaomon. "I don't mind." I pet him on his head.
"Thanks, buddy, but we're trying to keep you guys on the down low, remember?" I reminded him, hearing him whimper a bit.
"I know a way that won't cost us a penny!" That was from Tai when we look up at him. He giggled. "Just leave everything to me!"
"Oh, great, you're a genius." Matt said sarcastically while I've facepalmed.

Well, Tai's brillant plan was to get a cop to take us home, about his cat being stuck in the tree and needed to be home right away, which it made me facepalmed even more. I look over at Sora.
"Remind me to ask my parents of why their neighbors' son can be an idiot?" I asked her, seeing her shaking her head in disbelief. Hearing the boys chatting about the way Tai is acting.
"Hey, I've got the right way!" He shouted at a red Volkswagen.
"Good grief," Joe sighed. "At this rate, we could be sitting here all day."
"And night." Izzy said, causing Tai to get upset.
"Then, you guys try to get a ride!" He snapped, causing the two of them to jumped.
"Me? No way."
"Well, then, how about you, Matt?" Tai taunted. "Think you're so smart?" Matt glares at him, then got up and took over Tai's place while Tai came over and stood next to me since all of us are hiding in a bush. Even the goggle-head continue to taunt the blond, which made him mad.
"AT LEAST, MY CAT ISN'T STUCK ON A TREE!" The blond snapped, causing me and TK to sigh in disbelief.
"Akane, would you be my big sister?" He asked as a joke.
"Of course, little buddy." I said as a joke, as well.
Then, it was Joe and Izzy's turn, seeing them calling out for a taxi, which they did, and the cab driver asked if we had any money. Obviously, we didn't since the duo and the driver drove away. I shake my head in shame when all of the sudden...
"Akane?" That voice. I look behind me and yelped at the sight of my new friend from the train, seeing him holding a bag from a bookstore. "Hey."
"Drew, hi." I greeted him, standing up and away from the team. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm waiting on my brother, he's my ride back home." He spoke. "Are you guys waiting for a ride or something?"
"Yeah," I tell him truthfully. "We kind of spent the rest of our money on food and we don't have any more for a train back, since we've missed our stop." I said. He chuckles.
"No sweat, let me call my brother and ask if he can take you guys, too. Where are you heading?" Hearing the team felt relieved and cheering a bit.
"We're heading back to Odaiba." His eyes widened.
"Hey, that's where we're heading, too." Right on cue, a bright blue van appeared next to Drew with a gentleman calling him out through the window. "Hey, big bro. Is it okay we can give my new friend and her crew a ride back home? They're from Odaiba, too." His older brother smiles at us.
"Sure, hop on, kids." The team cheered and Drew opened the door for them to get on.
"Thank you so much, Drew." Joe bows to him.
"No problem, uh, your name is?" I giggled as I began to introduce my team.
"This is Joe, Matt, Izzy, Matt's little brother, TK, my neighbor, Tai, and the girls, Sora and Mimi." Hearing the team greeting Drew again and Drew smiles.
"Nice to meetcha, the driver is my older bro, Ichijo." His older brother waved, then all of us got in. I joined with the brothers in the front with Gaomon being on my lap after I closed the front door with Matt closing the main one behind me.
"Everybody in?" Hearing the team saying yes in unison. "Awesome, heading home we go." And Ichijo began to drive.
"Thank you again, Ichijo," I look over at him. "When we get back, I'll ask my parents for gas money." Ichijo chuckles.
"Nah, it's cool, Akane," He said with his eyes on the road. "We've seen you around at your family's diner, though." My brows went up.
"Really?"
"Yeah," That was from Drew when I look at him. He was looking shy a little. "Um, I'm sorry not mentioning this earlier, but the two of us sometimes seen you at the restaurant and I was gonna talk to you there before-"
"Till my little bro here, couldn't help develop a crush on you." Ichijo teased, hearing Drew yelped.
"Would you shut up?!" Hearing the brothers bickering, I just look away, feeling a faint blush coming along while I hear Mimi squealing a bit.
"Akane and Drew, sitting in the tree." I stood up and glare back at the girls, seeing them began to laugh.
"Just be lucky that I've grown on you two or we wouldn't be friends to begin with." Seeing Joe and Izzy shaking their heads with amusement, giving them the stink eye, too. Not until the van began to swerve, causing me to bump into Gaomon. "Oof!"
"Whoa!" The team cried out.
"Whoops, sorry, guys!" Ichijo called, holding onto the steering wheel. "Drew, stop hitting me or we're gonna cause an accident!" I giggled a bit, then I sat back down with Gaomon began to lie down on my lap. I brush his fur.
"Get some sleep, buddy." I tell him softly.
"What's his name?" Drew asked me when I look up at him.
"His name is Gao." I tell him.
"Has he been a service dog?" Oh, yeah. Hearing Tai snorted till I heard him yelped.
"Ow, Sora, that was my hip!"
"Whoops, I thought I saw a bug crawling on your side." Thank you, Sora.
"Yeah," I said. "Since I was a kid. I get panic attacks, so he been my service pup and knew what he has to do, in case I get into one of those episodes." He nodded.
"He seems pretty cool, though. I've never seen a dog with blue fur or wearing a pair of boxing gloves." He said, which made me sweat in stress.
"Uh-"
"That's because he came from Alaska." That was from Matt when the two of us look over at him, meeting his gaze. "Right, Akane? Didn't you tell us that your mom's side are fond Alaskan Akitas and Huskies?" Thank you so much, Matt! I nodded.
"Yeah, that's right, Matt." I look back at Drew. "And plus, Gao happened to be a runt of the litter, so," Looking down at my sleeping Digimon. "Hence why he's wearing gloves, because his claws are sensitive." Not until all of us heard the radio news about what's going on back home.
Hearing the newscaster about High View Terrance, causing myself to glance over at the team, mostly at Tai when I thought about the ninth child. Not until we heard about what happened earlier today with Garudamon and the newscaster mentions about the incident four years ago, which that memory still fuzzes me.
Especially when I remember about a giant blue dog that looked similar to Gaomon. I look down at him, brushing his fur. Could this be the same Gaomon I've met four years ago?
"When we get back, make sure you guys get home safe," Ichijo said in protective older brother mode. "I may not know you well, but it's my duty as being an older brother to my little bro here and only adult in the group, I just want to make sure. Your safety is on me since there's been crazies going on with the powers still being out."
"Really appreciated it, Ichijo, thank you." Izzy said when we heard Koromon whimpering. This caused Gaomon to wake up instantly and barked softly.
"What is it, boy?" I asked him since he's still acting like my dog. He ruffed it out, using his nose towards Koromon. Hearing the little guy groaning when I got the idea. "Oh! Ichijo, stop the car!" And he did, causing myself and Gaomon to get out quick and opened the door to look at Tai. But, we were too late, the smell came out as I held my nose. "Ew!"
"Koromon, you couldn't wait, can't you?" Koromon whimpered after everyone gotten out.
"What happen back there?" Ichijo asked.
"Tai's pet had a little accident," I tell him. "I'll clean it up." I quickly reach for my knapsack and pull it out some wipes I have, then I began to clean the spot. "Sheesh, what did Tai gave the poor little guy?" I murmured.
"I'm really sorry about that, Ichijo." I heard Tai. "It's just, he probably ate something he shouldn't have eaten and well, that's what caused the little accident." Ichijo laughed a bit.
"No sweat, buddy, it's fine." I climbed out on the other side of the bridge and went to a nearby trash can when I heard someone drove by.
"Huh?" I look over and it was a bike rider. Hearing him calling out as I manage to jump away. "Whoa!" And falling over. "Whoa, ahhh!"
"Akane!" The team cried out.
"Motimon, go!"
"Motimon, digivolve to...Tentomon!"
"Tento!" I laughed after he flew to my hands, and I grabbed him by his ankles. "Thanks, buddy!" Lifting me over, I let go of him and once again, Matt caught me. "Oof!"
"I got you." He said, setting me down to the ground, with his arms still around me. "You okay?" I pushed him away.
"You know, I don't mind fallen down," I scolded him, trying not to blush. "Since I am a klutz-" Not until I realized something. I look over at the bridge and saw something white floating around the water. "What's that?"
Everyone leaned over and all of the sudden, a giant squid appeared, causing all of us to scream in shock.
"What the heck is that?!" I forgot about Drew and Ichijo.
"That's Gesomon!" Tentomon called out.
"Geso-what?" Izzy asked.
"Gesomon," Gaomon said. "He's a giant squid that you don't want to mess with, especially when he's stuck onto something that he wouldn't let go."
"Holy mackrel!" Ichijo gasped.
"Leave it to me!" Gomamon went ahead and jump in as he began to digivolve. "Gomamon, digivolve into...Ikkakumon!" Seeing the water splashed, the giant seal began to fight the squid.
"Whoo-hoo, go, Ikkaku!" I cheered. Not until I saw a group of adults are watching what's going on, hearing them coming up with random things about advertising or of how the two Digimon are some kind of stars in the movie, causing me to push the team and the brothers to get away. "Walk away, walk away."
We watched back at the fight, seeing Gesomon was about to hit Ikkakumon, but the big seal manages to dodge and uses his Harpoon Torpedo at the squid, seeing him gotten hit and being back his normal self, causing us Digidestined to cheer for Ikkakumon for a job well done.
Then, the team decided that we should go ahead and get a ride with Ikkakumon and building logs as a raft with Gesomon's help. Probably they all felt bad for what happened that Koromon did earlier in the van.
"Again, I'm really sorry about that, guys," I bowed to them, then stood up. "Hence why we're going with our Digimon's friend. Just promise me you keep this between us?" The two nodded.
"You know it." Ichijo said.
"I'm expecting a story from you, Akane," Drew said with a grin.
"Yeah, probably over a date." Ichijo snickered with Drew punching him on shoulder. "Ow, what?"
"Shut up, will you?" I look down at that, clearing my throat.
"Anyway, hopefully I'll see you guys again back home." I grin.
"Akane, come on, we're waiting for ya!" I heard Tai.
"Coming, neighbor!" I called over, then look back at the brothers, waving at them. "See ya later."
"Hey, wait, I got you something." I heard Drew when I look back at him and saw him open the door to the van and pull out the bag from the bookstore, handing it to me. "Here. I'm sure you're gonna like it."
"What is it?" I taken it, then pull out a book when I gasped at the sight. "No way!" It's another volume of Fae's Crystal series, but in special edition. "I've been wanting to get this for a while when it came out."
"Think of it as a start of our friendship," Felt my heart and Crest at the word since Matt represents Friendship. "You're a really cool girl to hang with, Akane." I smiled at that.
"Thank you." Holding the book close to me.
"Akane, come on! Time's a wastin'!" I wave again, then ran over to the team and climb onto Ikkakumon's back as he began to set sail. You know what I mean.
While the team are busy chatting, I went ahead look into the book, seeing it it's the first volume, but the special edition shows extra chapters that wasn't included in the original and a contest about inserting a drawing of a favorite scene and character from the series.
I look at the very back to see and I gasped softly.
"No way, my drawing made it." My fanart of Nanami with her favorite spot in the forest since she's a half-fae herself. Not only that, but the special edition also shows the excerpts for volume six and seven since I'm currently reading volume five, which I can't wait for those two to come out.
