While Rouge and Omega sat in the living room, Shadow was pacing the room. The Bat leaned against her chin while she and their robot friend watched him.

She sighed and reclined in her seat. Her arms were crossed. The gears in Omega whirled as he observed the now-frazzled ultimate life-form.

Omega lifted a finger and commented, "Might I make a suggestion?"

"Oh?" Rouge responded.

"We should buy new wood."

"For what?"

The robot turned to Shadow, and Rouge held her head. Shadow glanced down, and stared for a moment at the trench he formed in the floor. He jumped out to start pacing in another part of the room.

Rouge said, "You're overreacting." He shot her a glare. "If you ask me, I did you a favour."

"And how was that a favour?"

"Let's see," Rouge replied and held out a hand, "You are lonely, can't get along with many people, and you are most of the time miserable." She folded a finger at each point she listed.

"And?"

"You need a girlfriend."

"I'm fine on my own."

"Hah! If that were so, you'd be less grumpy." She poked her friend's nose.

"Even though Amy is no longer into anyone, it doesn't mean that we'd-"

"She's the only girl who talks to you willingly and enjoys your company."

"We are only friends."

"Ah, yes. Friends who give each other flowers."

The Hedgehog scowled at her. While he did so, he faintly blushed. At that Rouge smirked. It annoyed Shadow more, and he snorted. Shadow's phone rang.

Rouge gave a bigger smile and said, "You gonna answer that?"

Still annoyed, Shadow picked it up and said, "What?"

Rouge muttered, "You need to work on your people skills in answering phones."

On the other end of the call was Amy who said, "Hey Shadow, I never got to properly thank you for helping me the other day."

Shadow, while suspiciously watching Rouge, backed into another room and teleported to the roof.

He said, "It's not necessary."

The pink girl laughed and answered, "Of course it is. It would have been an otherwise terrible day. Perhaps...I was being a bit hard on myself."

"Why?"

"Well, I had no one to be around and everyone is so busy. Sonic is busy with a girlfriend, Tails is busy fixing his plane, and Cream has school today. And well, Knuckles is on the Floating Island, and I can't get there on my own. It got really lonely for me."

"That explains your mood."

The girl twirled her pink bang and replied, "Yeah, I guess it did." She sighed and said, "Well, I won't keep you busy. I should let you go."

After they hung up, Shadow paused to think. At least it's now clear why she was like that. Something is telling me, this isn't over.
