Once Upon a December

When they found Kiro again he like them, were back in their normal clothes. Raian's hair was still styled. But when they found Kiro again he was curled up sitting on the stair in the shadows trying desperately not to cry.

"Kiro come on talk to us!" Raian pleaded.

"It's just like with me and Corrum. I was hurting and alone he took advantage of that! He used that as a way to kidnap me because I was stupid and blindly trusted him." Kiro said sniffling. "And for that I spent three years of being hurt and Miserable!" Kiro took a shaky breath. "I'm not gonna cry! I'm not pathetic! I'm strong!" he hissed telling himself that.

Zidane looked at him sadly. "Kiro I think you do need to- What's he doing?" he asked his voice turning icy with shock as he saw Dimitri sneak around from the front, into a fancy garnet red car that the Empress had gotten into.

"Uh oh!" he stated all three boys turned to see the car speed off.

"WHAT THE HELL!?" Amei screamed.

"You don't think he'd be that desperate do you?"Raian asked.

"I'm not taking the chance!" Kiro stated activating his Keyblade glider and zooming off with Raian following suit. Zidane waved a Taxi and he Amei and Nanaki jumped in.

"Follow that Taxi quickly!" Zidane said showing off a lot of money the driver nodded and did so.

"Eila, Slow down!" the Empress snapped. The young man turned back to face her.

"I'm not Elia! And I won't slow down not until you listen!" Dimitri snapped looking back to her shock,

"Wha- HOW DARE YOU! STOP THIS CAR IMMEDIATELY, STOP. THIS. CAR!" She demanded tapping her cane angrily. He wouldn't listen he used Anya and he was going to fix this! He was going to make things right. Dimitri turned his eyes back on the road.

He suddenly saw out the window two strange vehicles with Kiro and Raian following them. He also saw another taxi which probably had the rest of the kids. Thinking quickly, Dimitri sped up a nearby Cabbage Merchant screamed as the car avoiding him crashed through his cart followed by the pursuers.

"GAHHH, MY CABBAGES!" he cried bending backwards.

"Sorry!" Dimitri called. He tried to keep ahead of the group. Kiro was trying to inch ahead. But he was stopped and slowed by taking out those black creatures. As was Raian the Taxi was getting closer. He thought quickly and turned causing the rest of them to pass. Then he quickly drove out and went to a nearby.

Eventually the car came to a stop at the hotel. Dimtri got out and opened her door. "You have…to talk to her!" he snapped, pointing up to the Hotel room. "Just look at her please!"

"I will not be badgered by you any longer!" she replied defiantly, lifting her head up defiantly.

Dimitri pulled out the music box from his pocket. "Do you recognize this!" he stated showing her the music box, she took it and her eyes softened upon looking at the small gold box.

"This is her…..where did you get this?" The Empress asked.

"I know you've been hurt. But chances are she's just as lost and alone as you….please." Dimitri pleaded one last time.

"You'll stop at nothing will you?" she asked.

"I'm probably about as stubborn as you are." He replied smiling and gesturing to the door. She did to his delight decided to try.

Anya was furiously packing she came upon a rose Dimitri gave her and furiously threw it away. Finishing up she heard knocking.

"Go away Dimitri!" she snapped at the door. It opened and Anya a little embarrassed gasped when she saw who she was really talking to.

"Oh! I'm sorry I thought you were-"she stuttered embarrassed. The older Woman who did seem familiar, especially with her white hair done up; She had an elegant blue diamond encrusted crown a dark lavender dress with large drooping sleeves, with white gloves a blue sash. And sapphire earrings and necklace. She had the aid of a walking cane.

"I know very well who you thought was. Who are you?" she replied, coming up close as if to inspect her.

"I was hoping you could tell me." Anya replied,

"My dear I'm old. And I'm tired of being conned and tricked." She replied a bit bitterly making Anya feel a bit more guilty even if she didn't.

"I don't want to trick you." Anya apologetically replied.

"And I suppose the money doesn't interest you either?" the Empress asked a bit sarcastically.

"I just want to know who I am, whether or not I belong to a family….your family." Anya replied truthfully.

"You're a very good actress, best in fact but…. I've had enough." The Empress replied and began to leave.

Suddenly Anya smelt something familiar. memories began to flow back to her, "Peppermint?"

"Oil, for my hands," The Empress explained.

"Yes…..I spilt the bottle. And the carpet was soaked. And it forever smelt of peppermint, just like you. I used to lie on that rug, and oh how I missed you when you went away….when you came here….to Paris." Anya replied almost in a bit of a trance. The Empress seemed very surprised, she gestured Anya to sit with her then noticed the necklace.

"What is that?" she asked,

"This? I've always had it ever since I could remember." She replied showing her, her most prized possession.

"It was our secret, my Anastasia's and mine!" The Empress stated getting hopefully if not amazed. She then pulled out the music box.

"My Music box to sing me to sleep; when you were in Paris!" Anya stated recognizing the box and began humming as she used the Necklace as a Key to wind it up. As she did warm beautiful memories of a family began to return to her.

"Hear this song and remember." Instantly the Empress joined in.

"Soon you'll be home with me, once upon a December." Finishing Anya's or rather Anastasia's memory returned and they both knew who she truly was.

"Oh Anastasia, my Anastasia!" Her Grandmother said her eyes welling up with tears. As did hers as they hugged so tightly reunited at last. Little did they know someone had come in for an attack but seeing them had triggered something his mind welled with pain. Magus immediately rushed away as fast as he could. The image of a Woman with hair like his and kind blue eyes filled his mind.

"Who are you!?"

Outside Dimitri watched and was about to leave when he was suddenly tackled by Kiro and Raian as the Taxi the others were in soon showed up.

"Just for future reference first thing I do when I lose track of someone is higher ground!" Raian growled.

"GET OFF ME!" Dimitri said throwing the two small boys off. "JUST LISTEN TO ME! I DID THIS FOR HER NOT FOR ME."

Kiro could sense honesty in his voice. Not to mention the greedy sounds he had heard had completely faded away. He decided on a leap of faith. "One chance, make it count."

Then Dimitri explained he used to work at the palace as a kitchen boy. How the Czar seemed cursed to make the worst decisions. Unable to satisfy his people they revolted. Then how he helped the Grand Duchess and Empress escape how the rest of the Romanovs had been killed. And also, "ANYA'S ANASTASIA?!" they shouted.

"She must have lost her memory during or after the siege." Nanaki mused.

"I wouldn't want to remember something like that." Amei added.

"Yeah but It's thanks to Dimitri that they're still alive. Think you'll go straight now?" Kiro asked. However he was suddenly gone. "Dimitri? Dimitri!?"

"Someone get me a comb! And find some cologne I want to look my best!" Rasputin declared excitedly.

"That…..might take some work." Mortimer muttered trying to contact Magus who just went AWOL on them.

"Then snap too it! We have a party to attend!" Rasputin replied vigorously,

"A party we don't have time for that! Have you gone batty that's not like you! What about Anastasia!?" Pete asked before Rasputin showed him the newspaper. "Royal Party planned, Romanov Princess Found!"

"We'll let the Romanov Princess have her moment, then we'll KILL HER!" he stated stabbing a dagger into her photo.

"So the party?" Mortimer asked giving up on Magus.

"That's when we'll kill her CRUSH HER at the height of her glory!" Rasputin stated while viciously tearing the newspaper apart.

"Well that's just down right cruel." Pete muttered sadly before he broke into an evil grin. "EHEHAHHAHAH I love it!"

Anastasia with a crystal tiara on with a golden sparkling dress with a blue sash across her chest and sleeves that just hung on her arms she admired the dress as it was twirled around. Amei, Sophie and the taylor all grinned gazing in awe. Kiro smiled feeling very happy for her. It was later that Kiro and Co. along with Dimitri were summoned.

"You sent for us your grace?" Dimitri asked. Kiro looked around the Room it was elegant it was filled with Photos of her late family and various events long past. Many of the things here were expensive and royal looking Kiro didn't want to touch them. Then the Empress spoke.

"10 Million Rubbles as promised with my gratitude." She replied showing him a case full of bills.

"That's a lot of money," Zidane muttered wide-eyed. Raian nodded.

"I accept your gratitude your highness. But I don't want the money." Dimitri replied to the surprise of everyone.

"Didn't see that coming," Kiro muttered.

"No? then what do you want?" Marie asked,

"Unfortunately nothing you can give." Dimitri replied and taking his leave.

"Young man….where did you get that music box? You were the boy weren't you? The boy who got us out. You saved her life and mine, yet you want no reward." She asked surprise.

"Not anymore." Dimitri replied simply. Kiro couldn't help but be impressed by this. It was amazing just how thoroughly and quickly his heart had changed.

"Why the change of mind?" she asked.

"It was more like a change of heart." Dimitri replied leaving she watched him go but smiled in realization then turned.

"Kiro was it?" she asked.

"Yes." The boy squeaked

"You and your friends helped my Grand Daughter and her friends arrive safely, is there anything I can do for you? Anything at all?" the Empress asked.

"Just a question actually," Kiro said rubbing his hands nervously. "Have you heard of a spiky red sword anywhere here at all? It would've made anyone who touched it go insane until they dropped it."

The Empress hummed. "I do not believe so, but you are a Keyblade Wielder are you not?" She asked.

"Yes me and my friend Raian Ma'am." Kiro replied politely.

"Perhaps if you focus it can take you to this sword. I've heard a Keyblade wielder can use the power of their heart to find what they're searching for." The Empress replied.

"I've heard that too," Kiro muttered. When he remembered his dad talking about how he discovered this. "I'll try it, but I haven't been taught." Kiro said. "But I thank you for your wisdom!" he said bowing as they left.

The Empress smiled as they left. "And here I thought I'd be giving away 10 million Rubbles." She said to herself smiling.

Pooka, wearing a crown small belt with a dagger blue collar and badge walked over to the mirror, as Vlad in an old official outfit of his. The puppy was examining his appearance in the mirror shaking off the crown as Raian back in his tux stared at his hair.

"How long as it been like that?" Kiro asked coming back dressed as he was the other night.

"Since I first made it this way, I can't put it back!" Raian muttered worried, making Vlad laugh.

"Hey there," Zidane replied brightening up Dimtri had walked up to say good bye.

"Well if any of you are in St. Petersburg look me up." Dimitri replied.

"So long Vlad." He stated shaking his friend's hand then giving him a hug.

"Dimitri why don't you stay?" Kiro asked. "Things have been cleared up, and I'm sure she'll forgive you once you talk and want you here."

"No she won't," Dimitri replied. "Besides I don't belong here."

"Lad, you're making a big mistake." Vlad told him.

"Trust me this is the one thing I'm doing right." Dimitri told him he went over to Pooka who licked his hand.

"So long mutt," He teased Pooka seemed to give him a pleading look. They all stared sadly as he left. He came down the stairs to see Anastasia walking up it they looked at each other.

"Hello Dimitri, did you get your money?" she asked indifferently.

"My business is complete." He replied in a tone matching hers.

"Young Man you will address the Princess as your highness." Said a butler.

Anastasia began"no its-"

"No please allow me, your highness." He replied bowing she nodded.

"Goodbye your highness." He told her, as he went she felt a tinge of longing and much more sadness.

"Goodbye." She whispered.

Soon in the ball room Kiro hung against the wall like a wall flower he stared at the ground. He took a breath as Amei appeared. "Hey?" she said as he looked up.

"You don't have to dance but would you like some company?" Amei asked. "Zidane told me pulling you into dance wouldn't help."

Kiro chuckled. "Maybe one dance in a minute," Kiro replied. Kiro watched towards the thrones. However he suddenly heard the noise again.

"Rip, tear kill her, kill her, kill her the Romanov curse."

Kiro gasped and looked around. "What's wrong?!" Amei asked worriedly.

Anastasia for some reason was trying to find Dimtiri in spite of everything. "He's not there." Marie told her.

"Oh I know he's not- who's not there Grand Mama?" she asked wondering if grandma Marie knew who she was looking for.

"A remarkable young man who found a music box," She replied,

"Oh he's probably spending his reward money as fast as he can." She replied simply trying to wave it off. Marie nodded, and glanced out to the dancers.

"Look at them, you were born into this world of jewels and royal titles. But I can't help but wonder if it's enough?"

"Of course it is! I found what I was looking for! I found who I am I found you." She stated firmly but she didn't really have much conviction in her voice.

"Yes but is it enough?….My dear he didn't take the reward." Marie told her.

"What?" Anastasia asked surprised as she was pulled into a hug.

"You found me. And you will always have me, whatever you choose." She replied placing a kiss on her granddaughter's forehead. Anastasia looked out to see the Pooka yawning meanwhile Zidane grabbing some punch looked over to see Anastasia looking out in deep thought.

"Any- I mean Anastasia are you alright?" he asked.

"Oh Zidane, I'm fine. I guess I'm trying to figure something else out. It never ends." She said ending on a slight joke.

"Home is where the Heart is, something that took me a while to learn. You can go anywhere and the people you love are with you. The more love the better me thinks." He replied with a smile. He then went off. Then she suddenly heard Pooka barking.

"Pooka?" Anastasia called but no reply as she rushed out. Kiro gasped seeing this looked out to see what was wrong he quickly changed with magic into his casual clothes and rushed after them. When he saw that when the two went in the hedge shut behind them.

Kiro immediately called as he entered the hedge. "Kiro what's going on?" Raian asked.

"Listen I need you guys to change and start making your way through the hedge maze. Anya and Pooka are being trapped inside from some force. I think the two attacks we escape are on purpose. And I keep hearing a strange noise." He said cutting through another sealed up path.

"What kind of noise?" Raian asked he could hear the others gathering around Raian now. They were now deep in the maze rushing after them as fast as he could thanks to Pooka's barking.

"It's growly and scary it keeps repeating Kill her and the Romanov curse over and over again! Someone's after Princess Anastasia." Kiro called.

"We'll be right there. Also I think Amei might be a bit behind you." Zidane called.

Kiro suddenly heard screaming. He saw a hedge Unicorn running after what he knew to be the Princess and Pooka. Kiro rushed after it he slashed at it when he got close enough. Joining it were several more hedge animals and some Neo-Shadows. Kiro quickly began cutting them down using Blizzard spells and magic rather than Fire to keep the rest of the Topiary intact as much as possible. He was able to shatter the Unicorn and a couple of hedge Lions. The Neo shadows then had jumped up behind him to get the drop.

Kiro gasped however a blast of a Aeroga had hit them and killed them instantly, "Amei!" Kiro cried happily as she arrived.

"Sorry I'm late." She said back in her normal clothes.

"Not at all you're in time." Kiro replied. They suddenly heard barking.

"Pooka!" Kiro called even deeper now that they weren't even anywhere close to where the party was. They soon exited the hedge maze as they saw Anastasia finally catch Pooka.

"You're highness!" Kiro called as they caught up. "You need to get out of here!"

"Anastasia…." Called a sinister voice, Kiro summoned Tooney Justice getting in front of here as did Amei. The voice called to her again as Pooka growled in the mist. Coming out was a sickly green man in a robe and scraggily black hair. "Anastasia, look what ten years has done to us….you a beautiful flower and me a rotting corpse!" the man growled.

"That face….RASPUTIN!" she stated angrily.

"Rasputin!" the sorcerer mocked in a girlish tone with a laugh. "Destroyed by your despicable family!" he growled but then smiled menacingly.

"But what goes around comes around and around!" he stated with the ghosts from his reliquary shot out and started to attack the kids. Kiro slashed at them but there were too many as Anastasia beautiful dress had been torn to shreds. Her hair was starting to come down.

"Stop it!" Anastasia cried as she tried to get them off. Amei was whacking them away but they kept coming back.

"Enough!" Kiro shouted unleashing a burst of magic that blasted them away.

"I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU!" Anastasia snapped as the kids growled holding their weapons.

"I can fix that! Care for a little swim under the ice?" Rasputin stated venomously freezing the river and bridge over. Then using his magic to break part of the bridge that held them everyone screamed as they clung for dear life.

Rasputin laughed, "This time Anastasia no one can save you!" he shouted triumphantly.

"Wanna bet?" yelled two voices Dimitri slugged a punch at Rasputin. While Zidane sprung from out of nowhere and hit him with a powerful combo with him at his aid were Raian and Nanaki. Kiro and Amei also had managed to climb out. But before they could help Anastasia ghosts appeared.

Kiro and Amei had to blast them off but were cut off from helping the Princess.

"How much you want to bet he's behind everything that's nearly killed us in the past three days!" Raian snapped. as the two regrouped with the other. Rasputin just began laughing as he cast a barrier around them.

The ghosts sprung, from his tube and attacked them.

"Thunder!" Kiro yelled getting rid of some of them. Amei cast a shield to protect him and Zidane as the monstesr tried to crash into them.

"Help, the Princess!" Kiro called to Dimitri who wordlessly rushed to the rescue, Dimitri managed to grab her and began to pull her up.

"Dimitri if we live through this, remind me to thank you." She muttered quickly saying what he said a few days ago.

"Yeah, thank me later!" Dimtri replied quickly as he pulled.

Rasputin fought off Nanaki and Zidane, then glanced over to see Kiro going going to help Dimitri.

"How enchanting together again for the last time!" he stated sending a stream of demons to blow them back. Kiro managed to fight back and land as Dimitri was sent flying. Rasputin then unleashed a powerful freezing gust of a Blizzard at the group. As he then with his magic then brought a large Pegasus statue to life with Dimitri on it. Raian managed to break through the blizzard and make it stop with a Cherry Blossom.

"Dimitri!" they all cried as the flying statue bucked and threw him off inciting a battle with it.

Nanaki immediately cast Lunatic high as Kiro and Raian with all their might rushed at it. "Blade Charge!" Kiro shouted landing a large gash in the stone as Raian unleashed Lancer.

"Tidal Flame!" Zidane yelled dodging a falling rock at the same time. He then slashed at it a couple of times. He needed a stronger attack as the Demons rushed out and began rushing at them in droves. Blocking their ability to target the Pegasus, he then thought about one of his newest attacks. It might be able to get them all.

"Here goes nothing Stellar Circle 5!" Zidane yelled blasting a bunch of lights out from his weapon they honed in on the demons and the Pegasus causing a few cracks while cutting the demon's to ribbons.

Rasputin gasped in shock then growled blasting Zidane with green lighting the poor Blond suddenly found himself at the mercy of the demons he hacked and slashed at them, managing to kill some off.

Dispellera!" Raian yelled blasting several as Zidane killed one with a swipe of his Knife he then jumped to his feet as he rushed at Rasputin. However with a flash from his reliquary many Heartless appeared trapping the heroes. And forcing them to fight them all off. Anastasia was still clinging to life on the edge of the bridge.

"He was controlling the Heartless!" Kiro cried as he hacked down a Neo-Shadow. "Probably got them from Pete and Mortimer."

"Funny you should say that we fought and beat them on the way here, Firaga!" Raian yelled incinerating one and managing to mow his way over to Rasputin, only to be attacked by demons.

"Get off you little gremlins!" he snapped shooting wind everywhere he saw them with Rasputin getting even closer to Anya.

"NO!" Dimitri yelled.

"Anya!" Kiro cried forgetting all formalities and focusing on the girl he had empathized with and help to get here.

"Dasvidanya, your Highness!" Rasputin stated venomously and threw her down. The bridge then broke apart once more, Rasputin looked over to see a splash in the water.

"YES!" he declared before maniacally laughing, cackling to the sky to the horror of everyone.

"NOOOO ANYA!" Dimtri cried trying to dive in after her, only for the pegasus to stop him, Kiro and the others were pinned down by the Heartless unable to help.

"ANYA!" they all cried.

"LONG LIVE THE ROMANOVS!" Rasputin shouted laughing.

"Right!" shouted a voice that gave them hope.

"Eh WHAT?!" Rasputin stated in shock and looking to his left.

"Anya!" Kiro cried in glee.

"I Couldn't have said it better myself!" she stated tackling him over. The two began fighting. Kiro destroyed the Heartless on him and rushed over attacking Rasputin as he knocked Anya off. The two blasted spells at each other each using a spell at each other, they were then locked in a blast of thunder magic. But Kiro was soon over powered. He groaned he hit the frozen stone hard. As Rasputin looked over him and began to unleash a deadly blast, both Pooka and Jade both bit his leg.

The two were blasted off and fought with a pair demons managing they both managed to kill them thankfully. Rasputin went to summon another large Heartless muttering some Russian incantation Kiro couldn't understand. He got into a fighting stance preparing for the worst. But Pooka jumping and flapping his ears like wings grabbed the reliquary flying a tiny distance before falling down and dropping it to Anastasia. Who stepped on it and began to crush it with her foot, as a nearby clock tower called the Conciergerie began to toll. Kiro gasped as the world got quiet. He felt something very wrong and at the same time familiar. The reliquary with the many cracks and now red light began to weaken as the Heartless disappeared and the Pegasus broke apart; Part of the debris hitting Dimitri on the head.

"Dimitri!" Nanaki yelled out rushing to his side. Anastasia gasped and glared.

"This is for Dimitri!" she stated stomping on it as Rasputin rushed over to it,

"Give it back!" he begged rushing for it.

"This is for my Family!" she stated stomping on it once more,

"Stop I'll tear you to pieces!" Rasputin threatened though fear was evident in his voice,

"And this, this is for you! Dasvidanya!" she stated giving it one last stomp crushing it as the reliquary exploded Anya and the others rushed for cover Rasputin screamed in horror as his demons turned on him and rushed into him.

Amei and Kiro stared in horror. As Rasputin fell to his knees, as most of him liquefied and fell off his skeleton. As it began to fail around and turned to dust disappearing in the wind.

When it was over they all gathered around Dimitri who was sitting up groaning.

"Dimitri!" Anya cried rushing to him and hugging him tightly.

"Ow, Ow, Ow, Ow," He groaned she let him go instantly.

"Oh! I'm sorry I-" Anya stared but Dimitri cut her off.

"Its fine all men are babies." He said groaning.

"Take it easy." Kiro said with a smile relieved.

"You didn't take the-" Anya asked in shock.

"I couldn't." Dimitri replied cutting her off,

"Why?" she asked.

"Because I-"he stated as they drew closer and closer, however Pooka barking and showing he had the tiara she was wearing.

The group giggled when Kiro suddenly sensed something he looked up into the sky as did the others. It was a black and Red Keyblade. Kiro couldn't see its shape from far away. But it had a familiar sinister green and black flame. Then a familiar triumphant laughter and instantly as more fire appeared Dimitri protectively held Anya while Pooka growled.

"So it has begun." Maleficent said appearing. She gripped the Keyblade "Who would've thought a Princess of Heart would defeat one of my Darknesses. You are a fiery girl."

"What are you going to do?!" Anya shouted.

"With this the Keyblade War has begun, Albeit a bit slowly we have yet to find the remaining Princesses."

"Nothing you're saying makes sense!" Dimitri shouted holding Anya tightly.

"Something very bad! You won't get away with this! My Dad will break away from you! He already did once." Kiro shouted. Maleficent scowled at this.

"He'll be well out of the way regardless," She hissed. "For now I'll be taking this!" she said gripping the Keyblade and disappearing with it.

"Oh no…." Kiro muttered.

"Kiro, promise me you'll stop her." Anya said sadly.

"I promise you just focus on future!" Kiro stated with a smile.

Anya smiled back turning towards where the party was held she knew what she had to do.

"Something's happening with Kiro."

"I can give you a Dream Eater Body that will allow short moments in the Realm of Light. But you'll have to get there yourself and choose wisely it's use is limited without opening the Dream ways." Luna warned.

"I know you can't open it without weakening your hold on Lavos…." She replied.

"Kairi your son has the ability to hear Darkness." Luna said ominously. "Has he always been able too?"

Kairi sighed. "No, not until now; but after all the horrible abuse Corrum's put him through I'm not surprised. And we won't say anything not to me or to Riku."

Luna nodded sadly as she began to create a Dream Eater body for Kairi.

Keyblades obtained

New beginnings: Strength + 5 Magic + 7

Ability: Magic Finale: Kiro's final Spell cast is more powerful

Appearance: the hand guard is winter gust of wind, silver with white snowflakes the center bottom of the shaft is Anya's music box, which from the top stems into the shaft which is gold, the necklace is the teeth while several snowflakes make the chains and the token a small tiara

Forms

Dancing shoes: Using one of his spells Kiro turns his shoes into an elemental version of them. He then uses dancing to strike down foes

Finisher: Waltz of Memories: Kiro summons a flurry of Memories in the form of whatever element he is using to clear a group of enemies

I figure if Xehanort can have a handy cap with a prophecy or go about defeating the Guardian lights the way he did Starting the Keyblade war this should be fine. It also forces Maleficent and the others to move faster.
