She kept her hand on his chest, trying to get her point across as she held him close.
Forgiveness.
Perhaps too strong a word for that particular moment, but there's been enough strife, enough keeping them apart, and Kagome wanted nothing more than to collapse in his arms.
Sesshoumaru was stiff and unmoving, so she used her free hand to cup his jaw, stroking the stripes on his cheek as she hummed against his mouth. It seemed to do the trick as his arms snaked around her waist, pulling her flush with his body.
He slanted his head, and Kagome found herself being devoured. Her sharp gasp gave him full access, and the taste of crisp mountain air exploded on her tongue. They shuddered in unison, reiki and youki swirling in tandem as they took their fill.
Any last vestiges of apprehension melted away, her heart bursting with how complete she felt. The discomfort she'd grown up with, since the day he'd been cursed, was gone, every pass of his tongue warming her blood.
Only the need for air pulled her away, tears threatening to overflow as she stared into red-tinged eyes. A giggle bubbled up, clear and bright, and she leaned in closer, leaving a trail of kisses along his jaw. "No more being stupid, alright?"
He snorted, air ruffling her bangs, his grip on her never loosening as he tucked her under his chin. "You have my word."
"Good. Can we go home now? Mama's probably worried." They were lifted off the ground before she'd finished her thought, leaving the scent of scorched earth behind as they zipped through the sky.
