"I wouldn't want to speculate, but I do know that the Team Principal there will be making sure that his only remaining car makes it to the end of the race. I would be doing the same if I was in his shoes."
"And talking about racing, as we are on lap 10 and see Pierre Gasly get overtaken by Jimmy Potter, is it true that you intend to make some changes to your driver lineup for 2023?"
"I honestly can't comment on that Crofty."
Jimmy was in a happy space. After the disaster that was having contact with the Alpine of Esteban Ocon, requiring him to have to pit for a new front wing, he had returned to the track to find that the yellow flags had been raised in Sector 2, the sector which contained the Les Combes chicane.
Eventually a Safety Car had been required, meaning that he had been able to catch up with the rest of the field, and on the restart he had managed to get in front of Mick Schumacher, with Nicolas Latifi being the next car for him to overtake.
Al had been providing feedback and adjustments from the garage, and by time he had entered lap 10, he was within DRS range of Latifi as he passed the detection zone. Speeding up the Kemmel Straight, he had managed to catch the Williams, passing it before he had arrived at Les Combes.
Seeing Pierre Gasly in front, Jimmy had made the choice to try and overtake him on Pouhon, and taking the inside line, managed to get the position.
"Wooo!" Jimmy shouted over the team radio.
"Well done, keep it up!" Al responded. "You're nearly quarter distance."
"Understood" he responded, the happiness turning straight back into concentration. "What's the plan?"
"Plan A."
Coming up to the DRS detection point, located at the Bus Stop chicane, he knew he could possibly be passed by Gasly, but at the same time he could possibly take the other AlphaTauri, with the possibility to being in 14th.
Going through the chicane, DRS activated, he drove along the right side of the grid, sailing past the car driven by Yuki Tsunoda, the advantage for him at the La Source hairpin being that he could be on the inside of the corner.
Negotiating La Source, heading down the hill to the trio of curves at Eau Rouge and Radillion, the radio crackled to life.
"Box, box"
Heading round the Pouhon corner, he knew that he would be in DRS range of Kevin Magnussen, who was in 13th, by time he would be at Bus Stop, but at the same time he knew he had graining on his tyres, and he had been ordered to pit.
"And Albon pits, Potter and Gasly too. As the three cars change their tyres, we're expecting the teams closer to the front of the race to - woah, almost an unsafe release, Paul di Resta!"
"Yes Crofty, and the Williams almost gets released into the car of Jimmy Potter. The Williams car of Alex Albon had a slow stop on the front right, with the Alfa Romeo getting a good pit stop, re-entering the race behind Mick Schumacher in 15th.
As the race progressed, the field became more spread out in part, but Jimmy managed to make up 2 following his pit stop places, ending up behind the orange and blue McLaren of Lando Norris by lap 25.
Heading through the DRS zone along the Kemmel Straight, he tried to overtake the McLaren, but couldn't get past it.
Heading into Bruxelles, he took the outside line, trying to get past Norris who was on the inside.
"And Potter forces Lando Norris to go off the track into the gravel. The stewards are defiantly going to have to investigate that!"
"Yes, an unusual move by Jimmy Potter, who has, up until this race, been more cautious, less hot headed. He's going to have to give the place back I reckon."
"And it's confirmed by Race Control that the incident is under investigation. Jimmy Potter, who up until this weekend has been racing cautiously, is now in 12th place, less than a second behind Scorpius Malfoy in the Aston Martin."
Jimmy had positioned his car so, despite having the outside line on the Bruxelles turn, he could have the better launch into the Campus turn.
Going round the curve, he moved closer to his fellow Brit, intent on trying to get the position, erring ever so close to getting the position, not realising that he was forcing Norris to go off the track, into the gravel trap that the corner had.
At the apex of the turn, he was ahead of the McLaren ever so slightly, pushing forward at a rate of knots, his heart beating as Jimmy knew he could pass the orange and blue car.
Coming up to the next turn, he heard his radio come to life.
"The stewards are investigating that pass on Norris" Al said over the radio.
"I gave him plenty of room!" Jimmy responded, annoyed with the news. Going into the Campus turn, he growled. "There was plenty of room!"
"There was plenty of room!" the team radio played out on the television feed, a replay of the incident showing.
"As we look at the replay Martin, we see that Jimmy Potter…"
"He turned into me"
"…was slightly ahead of the McLaren on the apex, however it looks like he was getting progressively closer to Lando Norris as they went round Bruxelles, with Norris having no choice but to drive over the gravel."
"And further up the field, we see the Williams of Alexander Albon pitting..."
"You've been given a five second time penalty." The report came over the radio, two laps later. "We're going to box you now."
"What the hell?" Jimmy shouted over the radio. Calming down, he sighed. "Understood."
Going along the Kemmel straight, Jimmy knew he was currently in 10th, Malfoy ahead of him having pitted as they had gone through the Bus Stop chicane on the previous lap, but he'd probably end up going back towards the back of the field, thanks to the time penalty he had incurred and the 22 seconds average time loss in the pit lane.
"So Jimmy Potter takes his third stop, having ran mediums in this stint, mediums in the previous stint and a new front wing in that incident with Esteban Ocon. What's happening down there, Paul di Resta?"
"Yes, Jimmy Potter is also going to serve that five second time penalty as well. I can see that his mechanics have got the hard set of tyres and as Potter pulls into his pit box, he's going to have to wait for what seems like an eternity whilst the five seconds count down, and now the team can get to work, changing the tyres, and they're having problems with the front right.
"They've got it off now and Potter is away, Crofty, that was a slow stop for the Alfa Romeo team, who need to work hard as Potter is likely to end up behind Kevin Magnussen, who is currently in 18th."
Coming out of the pit lane, Jimmy put his foot down on the accelerator as he drove down the track into the Eau Rouge and Raidillon curves, through the DRS detection point.
"You've got DRS on Magnussen" Al reported to him over the radio, just as he was about to enter the zone along the Kemmel straight. Pressing his DRS button as he entered the zone, he made the move to overtake the Haas, the extra few miles per hour being useful in his attempt.
Entering the breaking zone for the Les Combes chicane, he managed to overtake the Dane, getting into 17th place.
Going through Blanchimont, he could see he was getting close to the Williams of Nicholas Latifi. Knowing the car of the Oxfordshire based team was slightly slower than him, Jimmy followed him up to the Bus Stop chicane.
"And Potter overtakes Latifi in the Bus Stop chicane, Potter, who has had a mixed race today, is now into 16th, and in DRS range of the Aston Martin of Scorpius Malfoy."
Jimmy could see the Aston Martin of Malfoy's, knowing that he wouldn't be able to make it ahead of the green Mercedes powered car, got behind his opponent, intent on overtaking in the DRS zone on the Kemmel straight.
Heading up the hill, Jimmy could see Malfoy was the faster of the two cars on the hill, but he had the better straight line speed. Heading through Eau Rouge, he passed through the speed trap into the at speeds approaching 180 miles an hour, heading slightly off the racing line to overtake Malfoy in the DRS Zone.
Approaching the right-hand part of the Les Combes chicane, slowing down through the breaking zone, Jimmy felt the back of his car going to the right, getting itself stuck in the gravel.
"Fuck!" he muttered to himself
He was unable to move the car out of the situation he was in.
The accountant saw the email on his phone. Knowing that he had owed his position to his patron, he felt he had to follow their request.
Pulling a memory stick out of his suitcase, he turned his computer on, knowing that he risked that any information that he was going to send could be traced back to him.
Opening a web browser, he logged into an email account that he especially used for this.
As he sent the email, he grabbed his phone and responded to the email.
'All done.'
