I'm posting this temporary chapter to get a notification out to everyone who follows this story. As of today, the second version of the Paid In Blood rewrite is complete. Depending on when you first read it, this story may be fairly different from what you remember.
I first posted this story in June of last year. At the time, I wasn't sure how well received a rewrite like this would be, so I was overly careful not to change too much. I basically just focused on correcting spelling, grammar, and consistency errors, while leaving most of the writing style and dialogue intact. Thankfully, I got great feedback, and no one seemed to take issue with what I'd done, since I had clearly credited Zaterra02 as the original author.
A few months later, I decided to read through it to look for lingering typos and I wasn't thrilled with what I saw. My second round of clean-up started to go beyond simple corrections, and before I knew it, I was engaged in a full-on rewrite. This took a lot more effort than my original version, but I think it was worth it in the end.
This all started in mid-September. Instead of posting a separate story, I began gradually replacing chapters in this version with the new, completely rewritten chapters (most of them going through multiple rounds of updates). If you picked up this story anytime between September and now, what you read would have been a split between old and new versions.
I thought about including specific details on the changes in this note, but I don't want to bore anybody. Just rest assured that the story itself hasn't changed a bit, it just flows better and does a better job at explaining certain elements. Anything you like from the original will still be there, and anything you didn't like probably will be too. I personally believe this version to be a massive improvement over the one I posted last June, so if you're ever in the mood to re-read Paid In Blood, I encourage you to check it out.
