Ch.39: Wham Line

For Princess Twilight, she could not believe what was before her. Or more specifically, who was. She could have sworn to even Fausticorn herself that Adagio and her sisters were banished. She steadied herself, her heart beating like a boxer in training.

She would be surprised as Adagio gave her answer as to why magic had been persisting into Pandestria- the Everfree Forest! Easily the most infamous part in all of Equestria, it was home to many creatures Ponies wisely refused to trifle with.

"How would that work though? Like some sort of Magic from the forest penetrated the mirror pool?" Princess Twilight finally answered. Truly, she had been pondering herself for a time what was going on. She had become even more suspicious about all of it when Adagio told her of the entity in my head. Of course, certain things were kept secret for now. Adagio knew Princess Twilight would have a heart attack if she knew.

Princess Twilight would calm then, as Adagio told her of Camp Everfree, and the experience the "Magnificent Seven", also known as Sunset and Company, had went through the previous summer. Adagio proposed that perhaps the magic had went through the statue and had nestled itself into Camp Everfree. Smiling, Princess Twilight agreed to go take a look.

If only she could know what her human counterpart was about to experience.

Twilight smiled as she shook the hand of Princess Twilight. Of course, the Princess was awkward in the movement.

"How far away is this Camp?" Princess Twilight asked. Twilight smiled, picking up the notebook Princess Twilight had dropped upon entering our world.

"We will have to take my vehicle, Princess" she said, gesturing to her purple Toyota Camry hybrid, gifted to her by her brother not long before. The Princess tilted her head, no doubt many questions filling her mind. However, she set those aside for now, a much bigger mystery to be unwrapped.

The drive to the camp was filled with conversation. Twilight filled in the Princess on my movements, something Princess Celestia had allegedly been very interested in. In turn, the Princess had told her some amusing stories concerning the creature known as Discord. Funny enough, my children, I have never met him.

Finally, the two would arrive, the car parking in front of a series of Cabins. The camp was closed for the year, but people were permitted to use the lake if they wished.

The two Twilight's retreated from the vehicle, looking around. It was somewhat windy on the day, with partly cloudy skies. Princess Twilight scratched her chin.

"Where exactly did this magic manifest in you and your friends?" she asked. Twilight responded quickly.

"By the lake. It came out of nowhere, but it became useful when we had to defeat a camp counselor corrupted by the spirit of Gaia Everfree."

Princess Twilight nodded. "Perhaps Gaia would know! Does her spirit reside in the forest? Maybe we can talk to her!" she said, bouncing in excitement, her head turning then as she noticed another car pull up, this one light blue with a taco emblem on the hood.

Stepping out was who Princess Twilight knew to be Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze. Sonata jumped out of the car. Unlike the carefree Sonata most people knew and loved, Sonata that day had a face of seriousness.

"So, you two want to meet Gaia, huh?" She asked. Aria stood next to her, crossing her arms.

Twilight blinked. "Yes, we do. We believe she may have an answer to why me and my friends have magical powers."

"And perhaps more" Princess Twilight added. "Why Sunset has Daylight, why Twilight has Midnight... everything that has happened to your land over the last few years."

Aria nodded. "I can summon her, but please be aware. What happens may not be what you expect. You may not get any answers. Hell, Gaia may try to attack you both. Do you two still want this?"

The two nodded firmly.

Aria sat down, her breaths calm. Above them, the wind seemed to pick up slightly, though the weather did not change. Aria looked up.

"To the spirit that runs these lands, we wish to speak in peace!"

The land then went quiet for a moment. None of the four spoke. It was so quiet that even the wind itself stopped.

Then out on the lake, came the spirit of Gaia Everfree. She calmly walked up the beach line to the four girls. When she spoke, her voice was rough, somewhat like a female Optimus Prime.

"I have been waiting for this day for a long time now. It is a great honor to meet you, Princess Twilight. I have been the spirit that has protected these lands for millions of years, and I always will. I only ask this before I answer your inquiry- is this for David's sake why you ask?"

"More than that" Sonata responded. "For everyone. We have no idea if David's spirit is going to be friend or foe! No clue about Daylight, Midnight- what if they plan to take over or something?"

Gaia laughed uproariously.

"Good one, Sonata Dusk! Daylight would never proceed to such plans. I will give you what you ask, but in turn, a key becomes unlocked today."

Before the four could say anything, Gaia would explain that Magic had leaked into Pandestria millions of years ago. At times, when necessary, it had helped or hindered people throughout the ages. Gaia did explain that there was a purpose to all of our abilities or what we had, and we would know in time.

"So, this magic had nothing to do with Equestria at all?" Princess Twilight asked.

"It did not" Gaia confirmed. "I would be wise to hold this information for now. Until he comes."

Not elaborating on who "he" was, Gaia walked over to Twilight and placed a hand on her head.

"Aria, get behind Twilight. She will fall when I do this"

Princess Twilight was worried there would be trickery, but alas, there was not. But what there was came a big shocker.

As Twilight fell and quickly recovered, the four bore witness to Midnight Sparkle standing there in the living flesh. She was not a dream. Gaia disappeared, Sonata texting Adagio to quickly get there.

The first key had been unlocked to the destiny that laid before us all.

The next day came a conversation between Aria and I...
