Ch.40: Thriller
There was not any debate on who Midnight Sparkle would stay with. She had not seen her sisters in a long time. Sonata was overjoyed, only wishing to tell her sister about some experiences they had experienced in their more amorous times.
Midnight raised a hand, stopping Sonata as they entered the Dazzling's apartment. Aria and Adagio were standing behind them.
"I would be happy to hear your tales, Sonata, but I have to speak to Aria."
Understanding, Adagio led Sonata away. Midnight and Aria sat next to each other on the couch, the TV lazily left on from the afternoon. It was around 7 in the evening at this point.
"You are not the only one that has seen Twilight's crush on David, correct?"
Aria smirked, her head laid on the back of the couch but turned lazily to Midnight's direction. "I confronted her last month. She has it bad. Has she-you know- dreamed about David?"
Midnight grinned. "I refuse to give out those tales for free. Anyways, Twilight's interest in David is qu- "
Aria stopped her. "I plan to break up with him tomorrow. I just hope we can remain friends. He's a great guy, and he needs us."
Midnight did not have to be told what Aria meant. The entity.
Aria smirked. "Are you saying this because you want a taste of him?"
To her surprise, Midnight blushed. "H-he is a perfectly fine human being" she stammered out, as Aria laughed.
"I meant eat him, Midnight! Not romance or tryst!"
The two sisters laughed as at home, I had come to a decision. Me and Aria would make better friends.
Great minds think alike, I suppose.
The next morning, I found myself at a Halloween shop, one of those prop up ones that can be found in October. I was debating between a Captain America costume or a Joker one when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see a smiling Aria.
Giving her a hug, Aria smiled as she saw me debating.
"I'm going as Wonder Woman" she offered. "Sonata is going as a hippie, and Adagio refuses to say."
"Pinkie's going as Tinkerbell" I replied, picking the Captain America costume, Aria following me to the counter.
"You know, its weird Aria. We saw Adagio at the bank yesterday, and she suddenly ran out of there. Is everything okay?"
Aria hesitated, before nodding. "Yeah- just something came up. Family business" she chuckled. I did not believe her for any second, but I dropped it, knowing something more important needed to be said.
After paying for the costume, I turned to Aria. "Café?" I asked.
"Café" Aria agreed.
Our drinks were ordered. Aria chose an iced coffee with Caramel, and I chose a Peanut Butter and Banana smoothie. I hesitated, not knowing how to tell her.
I would suppose Aria either did, or sensed my nervousness, because she took my left hand, rubbing it with her thumb.
"David, I think I know what we're both thinking. I mean, It's been a fun three months, but..."
"Better friends we are" I offered, a small smile on my face.
Aria nodded, looking down. "Just so you know, Adagio didn't say to say that. I just- came to that conclusion."
I scratched my chin with my right hand, a bit amused. "I did too, Aria. By the way, you never did show me your siren form" I said teasingly.
Aria grinned, her eyes narrowing. "Maybe I will someday. You really want to? I could send you and that whole family down for a bit. But no seriously, David, I will always love you. You are a great person and will make someone jump for joy."
I stared at her, a warm smile on my face. Her hand had not left mine.
"So will you, Aria."
Aria left not long after, wanting to look at the Halloween costumes herself. I sat there, looking at my glass as a waitress came up.
I would have no idea that through the window, Aria was gazing at me.
"You're up for bat now, Twilight."
