Ch.42: Teen Times
I had always enjoyed the holiday known as Halloween. When I was younger, it had been about the candy, or when she was older, bargaining with my sister to get treats from her basket. I suppose in the later years, it had been about enjoying the company, plus the tradition.
To Pinkie's frustration, we had school that day. At breakfast, which Igneous and Cloudy were not part of due to a desire to sleep in, came a scheming, Pinkie.
"I could get us a hot air balloon. We could fly around Manehatten and tell our teachers we were learning Geography" she suggested. I took a sip of my coffee, amused by her suggestion.
"Where would you get a hot air balloon?" A sleepy Marble asked, ready to get on the bus.
Pinkie looked as if she had just been asked about macroeconomics.
Before she could answer, Marble saw the bus, and bounded outside. Taking that as a sign, Pinkie and I were soon out the door ourselves.
Rarity had made the decision to wear her costume to school. She was dressed as Ariel, the lovely protagonist of The Little Mermaid. She smiled as she saw us. Pip walked over to Pinkie, taking her hand.
"My lovely Pinkie" he said, kissing her left hand. Pinkie swooned. I allowed a smile at the sight, before turning my head to see Twilight joining us. She grinned.
"I am dressing a bit oddly, I will admit" she said to me. "As the villain from No Country for Old Men. A female version. By the way, what's the most you ever lost in a coin toss?"
I went to respond, only to be interrupted as Aria walked by. She said nothing, but smiled and waved. I did too, though my wave and smile were fake. Noticing this, Twilight took my hand.
"I mean, a coin toss could be used for a lot of things. Even to determine where a couple will go on a date."
I smiled at her. "I guess so." I said, before being dragged away by Pinkie. She liked getting to Home Economics early.
Rarity could only turn to Twilight, shaking her head.
"In good time, Twilight."
For me, the day went fast. Gym was a game of flag football, which was enjoyable. One moment stands out, however.
Rainbow was standing guard at the "end zone" for her team. I was rushing in to get past her. I had never been an amazing athlete, but that day, I was going fast. Rainbow went to block me and grab my flag, only for her to accidently touch my butt. I stopped at once, the flag in her hands. We looked at one another, speechless.
Before anything could be said, Spitfire blew her whistled to indicate that I was out. I walked off the "Field", Rainbow still holding the flag. Inside, she was debating. Why had she done that? What was the purpose?
Spitfire could only allow herself to grin, watching the teams go at it once more. She had a bet going with Luna on who I would end up with.
If the winds were going where she thought they were, $200 bucks were hers.
The incident was forgotten for the moment. I had went home to change. The eight of us were meeting up (That is, Sunset and Company and I) at the movie store Sunset worked at. I was looking in the mirror, looking at the shield.
Before I could react, I felt it again. At times, I had felt this shaking feeling if I went without eating for too long. I winced, the shaking causing me to stumble onto one knee as Pinkie came in none the wiser.
"Good job on the pose, David! We gotta get going!" She said. I nodded, looking at her and standing. I wordlessly walked over to her.
"Pinkie, could you get me a banana from the kitchen?"
Pinkie frowned, but wordlessly left.
My children, Pinkie has a condition called ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Because of it, she does, at points, get stereotyped into being one who does not pay attention.
Pinkie however had. She did notice the shaking and had even brought it up in private with her father once. Igneous had recommended to just keep a watch over me. There was something they both feared to be the reality, but for now, both were cautiously optimistic.
If it was that, they would be ready to help.
Shortly after five, Pinkie and I met up with the rest. Fluttershy was dressed as Wendy from The Wizard of Oz, Applejack as Ghostface, and Sunset Shimmer, amusingly enough, as Dale Earnhardt, sans the mustache.
"Where's Flash?" Twilight asked Sunset, our group beginning to walk.
"He has a biker meeting today. He said he's just going to go to the store tomorrow after school and stock up."
"Biker group?" I asked in confusion.
Sunset turned to me, smiling. Talking in a southern accent, she explained that Flash was a member of a biker group of Teenagers called the Sons and Daughters of Anarchy.
"And they don't mean setting fires and looting" Rainbow Dash added. "They mean like, changing the system so its better, being a better friend, community service.. stuff like that."
I smiled. "You a member, Sunset."
Sunset grinned. "I lead the females. Flash and I started the group last September."
Processing this, we got to our first house, a lavish mansion. Answering the door was an older gentlemen, who was in the Halloween spirit- he was dressed as a mobster.
For a time, we enjoyed ourselves as we collected candy, and chatted as we came across friends and acquaintances.
As we came across the building the Dazzling's resided in, I had no idea Midnight was watching through the window. She smirked, deciding to have a bit of fun, and snapped her fingers.
Immediately, Twilight's left hand clasped my right. I was just as confused as she was. AJ laughed and Rainbow felt...jealousy?
"Ugh, maybe I should just ask him out" she thought to herself.
But she would wait. And if Twilight did not make a move within two weeks, she would.
The jock was correct.
