Chapter 5 - Interlude: Chunin Exams
Land of Whirlpools - Uzushiogakure no Sato
In the ruins of a once mighty clan. Uzushiogakure was a global superpower on the rise before its demise in the twilight of the Second Ninja War.
In these ruins we find Naruto getting the shit kicked out of him.
"Come on Naruto, don't tell me you fell into your own hype" said the man. Naruto stood up with a groan as he looked at his teacher.
The man was tall, fair skinned with black eyes. His brown hair was tied into a spiked ponytail and he had an anchor styled beard, he wore a forest green short sleeved kimono with black pants and green shinobi sandals.
"No sensei, there's this dick of a man who gets his rocks off by beating up little kids" replied Naruto.
The man's eye twitched at the remark. "Smartass, you're lucky you can take a beating, otherwise you'd look like him" said the man pointing at a bruised and knocked out Rindo.
"So brat shall we continue?" said the man. Naruto nodded as he charged at the man and threw a kick at the man's head.
The man easily dodged the attack and grabbed Naruto's leg mid kick and threw him across the training ground.
The man vanished and appeared in front of the blonde and kicked the side of his head sending him flying across the training ground once more.
Naruto stood on shaky legs, and spat out some blood as he looked at the smirking son of bitch in front of him.
Naruto then focused on his breathing and closed his eyes. When he opened them he saw the man's muscles and veins. 'I did it, I've managed to see into the transparent world' thought the blonde as he disappeared and appeared behind the man delivering a spinning kick to the man's temple.
Naruto then continued his onslaught with a combo of jabs, hooks and kicks.
The man then rolled away from Naruto's stomp and quickly got up to face the the blonde.
"That's it for today kid, go wake up Rindo he still needs to run through these hands." Naruto nodded as he walked to Rindo's unconscious body.
"Hey Naruto!"
"What?"
"Good job" said the man. Naruto smiled
"Thanks Nawaki-sensei"
Konoha
Hokage's Office
"Give us a real mission Sarutobi" said an annoyed Kanae Uzumaki. Sarutobi chuckled in amusement "Kanae, D-ranks are real missions.
They help build teamwork, without the danger of combat and it helps teams to build strategies" said Iruka.
Kanae stuck out her tongue "I want a real mission, how am I supposed to grow as a ninja if I don't get higher ranked missions"
"Why do you want a higher mission Kanae?"
"I just told you why" said the redhead. The room suddenly got colder as Sarutobi leaked a bit of his killing intent.
"Kanae Uzumaki, why should I give you a higher rank mission?" Sarutobi asked. Kanae found herself trembling at the old man sitting in front of her, any and all bravado vanished at the sheer will of the Third Hokage.
"B-because I don't want to fall behind Nii-san" Kanae whispered. Sarutobi sighed as he relieved his killing intent causing the people in the room sigh in relief.
Sarutobi knew that Naruto's feats would reach Konoha. A genin facing off and killing one of the seven swordsmen is something unheard of.
"What do you think Kakashi?" Sarutobi asked. Kakashi had spiky silver hair often oriented to his left-side, black eyes and a typically relaxed and lazy expression.
He wore a mask that covered his lower face and his forehead protector covered his left eye. He also wore the standard Konoha uniform.
"I think they're ready Lord Hokage" said Kakashi. Sarutobi nodded "Bring in the client" a few minutes later the door opened revealing a drunk old man with glasses and a bottle of sake in his hands.
"Ah Tazuna pleased to see you, this is the team that will accompany you" Sarutobi said.
"This is it? A team of girls? I requested ninja not a couple of princesses" Tazuna sneered. "I can assure you that these are one of our finest genin and I'm way more than capable to take out any threats on our journey" said Kakashi while holding back a trio of angry kunoichi.
"Tch, you better protect me with your lives then. Because I'm the super bridge builder Tazuna"
"Very well, Team 7 your mission starts first thing tomorrow morning, dismissed." said Sarutobi as team 7 and Tazuna left the office.
"Umm Lord Hokage are you sure they're ready? " Iruka asked. "As long as Kakashi says that they are ready I have no reason to be worried" Sarutobi replied as he continued his paperwork.
Iwagakure
"Lava Release: Planet-Branding Blast" acid burst from the ground, destroying the small training ground leaving nothing but steaming earth.
Kurotsuchi smiled as she took heavy breaths. This jutsu took her a better part of a month to master.
She then heard someone clapping behind her, "Well done" said Kaiju.
Kurotsuchi's eyes widened, Kaiju Shiba was talking to her something that had never happened before.
"Umm thanks Lord Shiba" said Kurotsuchi. "Nah, none of that Lord crap, just call me by my name" said Kaiju.
"So, umm not to be rude or anything but why does the captain of the Explosion corps want with me?" said Kurotsuchi. Kaiju reached into his hoodie pocket and took out a scroll.
"The jutsu in this scroll can only be performed by the four tails. I wanna see if you can master it" said Kaiju.
"But the four tails has a different kind of lava rele-"
"You have two months" said Kaiju as he turned into a puddle of mud, leaving the scroll and a confused Kurotsuchi.
Uzushiogakure
"We're running out of supplies" said Rindo. "There's a port town at the Land of Waves" said Naruto. "Be careful you two, rumors say that Gato's running the Land of Waves dry" said Nawaki.
The two blondes nodded as they flew towards the Land of Waves.
Land of Waves - Unfinished bridge
Kakashi Hatake was a man of legend. Known far and wide as Kakashi of the Sharingan, the man who copied over a thousand justu.
The sole surviving student of the Fourth Hokage.
Facing him was a man of equal renown. Zabuza Momochi, one of the Seven Swordsmen of the mist was known to be one of or the most bloodthirsty member.
Known to have slaughtered his entire graduation class while not being a student himself, he was one of the finest ninja to have ever come out of the Bloody Mist era.
He is known far and wide as the Demon of Kirigakure.
Zabuza was a tall and noticeably muscular man with light grayish skin, short spiky black hair, dark brown eyes, and small eyebrows. He was normally seen wearing bandages like a mask over the bottom half of his face.
He wore his forehead protector sideways on his head.
he was shirtless, with his chest only covered by a belt to which he attached the Executioners Blade, wearing baggy pants with the striped pattern typical of Kirigakure and mimetic wrist-warmers extending up to his elbows, with matching leg-warmers.
"See that Kakashi, that's Haku's strongest jutsu those brats are as good as dead" said Zabuza. Kakashi looked behind him and saw a dome of ice, the masked jonin rushed towards his students when he was forced to dodge Zabuza's sword.
"DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME!" yelled the missing nin. Kakashi hoped his students could hold on for a few minutes.
Tsukino Uchiha was pissed. The fake hunter nin managed to trap her within this dome of ice and proceeded to make her a human pincushion.
Oh and Kanae (as much as she loved her best friend) jumped into the dome without any thought, like an idiot.
The only good thing was that she finally got her Sharingan one tomoe in one eye and two in another.
Even with her dojutsu she wasn't fast enough to dodge and parry the hail of needles from Haku.
"Just give up, I don't want to kill you" said Haku.
Haku's outfit consisted of the standard Kirigakure pinstriped outfit which stopped at his knees.
Over this he wore a green haori with white trimmings, and around his waist a brown sash with a fringed trail wrapped around his waist twice.
He also wore light-brown platoon sandals with straps in the same colour as his kimono and nail polish on his fingernails and toenails in matching blue green colour.
"As if I'd surrender to the likes of you" Tsukino replied.
"Very well then"
With a flick of his wrist Haku unleashed a hail of needles at the kunoichi.
Tsukino can only watch as the needles slowly came towards her, courtesy of her Sharingan.
'Heh never thought I'd see my death in slow motion' thought the Uchiha princess.
All of a sudden the two kunoichi found themselves outside the dome, as it exploded.
"Looks like I showed up at the right time" said Rindo.
The two kunoichi looked at their savior and immediately blushed upon seeing him. 'He's cute' thought the two kunoichi.
"Are you guys okay?" Rindo asked. Tsukino nodded as Kanae slowly pulled out the needles from her body.
Rindo then walked towards Haku, who had burns across his body from Rindo's exploding clone. "K-kill me" said Haku.
"Sure man" Rindo replied as he knocked Haku out with the butt of his sword.
"Hey, umm who are you?" Kanae asked as Rindo looked at Zabuza and Kakashi's battle. "Rindo" answered the blonde before he vanished.
"Any last words Zabuza?" said Kakashi with his right hand crackling with lightning. Zabuza who was being held down by Kakashi's summons spat at the masked jonin's feet, "Go to hell Kakashi"
"Okay then" said Kakashi as he charged at Zabuza intending to kill the missing nin, when a large sword blocked his attack.
"Hey, there's no need for unnecessary violence guys" said Rindo.
The two infamous ninja looked at the newcomer with mixed reactions Kakashi's was more guarded 'Why is an Iwa nin doing all the way out here?' Kakashi thought.
"Kid Terrorist, Rindo Shiba one of the brats who killed my former associates. If you're here that means the King of Hell is not far" said Zabuza.
"Well, well lookie here. The 'Demon' got his ass kicked by a couple of princesses and their babysitter" said Gato.
Gato was a very short man who wore sunglasses and a blue suit. Behind him were a dozen thugs armed with knives and swords.
"What is the meaning of this Gato?" Zabuza growled. "Look, you ninja are expensive to hire for nothing and you can't get anything done.
Unlike my boys here" said Gato gesturing to the thugs behind him. "Even if you did kill that old fool I still wouldn't have paid you, you useless piece of dog shit" Gato laughed.
"Boys kill these fools, but spare the girls I need me some ninja pussy"
"Little man, you're boys aren't gonna do anything" said Naruto as he appeared next to Gato.
"W-what the hell? Kill them you sons of bitches!" Gato yelled. Naruto chukled in amusement as he snapped his fingers.
The heads of the thugs started to fall down from their bodies in a shower of blood covering the criminal boss who was shaking in fear. "W-what are y-you?" fearfully asked Gato.
"The Devil" said Naruto as he stabbed Gato through the head with shusui. "Well, now that's over with let's get to business shall we" said Naruto as he approached the group of ninja.
Kakashi couldn't believe his eyes. His sensei's son was right in front of him. As Kakashi looked at Naruto he saw the spitting image of his sensei.
"Well, well if isn't the son of the Fourth Hokage, came to collect another sword brat?" asked Zabuza.
"Nah, the Executioners blade is not my style. I'm here to give you the money this midget owes you" said Naruto.
"Why on earth would you do that?" asked Zabuza. Naruto shrugged as he tossed a scroll to Rindo. "Now Kakashi I'm gonna ask you to let go of him" said Rindo.
"Our fight is over Kakashi, just listen to these brats" said Zabuza as he saw that the masked jonin was about to refuse.
Kakashi sighed as he called off his dogs freeing a wounded Zabuza.
Kanae was dreaming, of course she was her older brother was standing right in front of her. "Nii-san" whispered the redhead.
Tsukino on the other hand was too busy checking out Naruto. 'Mmm I was right he grew up nice' Tsukino thought.
'Why do I feel like a piece of meat that's ready to be devoured?' thought the blonde. "Hey Naruto got our supplies?" asked Rindo.
Naruto nodded as he and Rindo prepared to leave. "Big brother Naruto!" Naruto turned around to see a red headed girl running towards him.
"Umm, do I know you?" asked the blonde. "I-I'm you're little sister" Kanae replied. Naruto looked at the read head with an intense stare.
Mindscape
Naruto's mindscape is what a Yamanaka would call a paradise. It was a lush island floating on top of two dams.
On the left the water was dark blue and the dam was opened. This was Naruto's chakra a seemingly never-ending ocean of dense powerful chakra.
The one on the right was ten times bigger than Naruto's. An ocean of red-orange chakra that was unnaturally still, with the dam's reservoirs closed.
"Alright Kyubi, what do you want?" Naruto asked. With a mighty roar the Kyubi emerged from its den in the mountain and jumped down towards Naruto.
Naruto stood unfazed as the Nine Tailed Fox landed in front of him. "Brat, before you go on and kill that little redhead. She's not wrong"
"What do you mean?"
"That girl is my former warden's daughter"
"S-so she's... "
"Yes brat, that there is your half sister" said the Kyubi.
"Alright then, thanks for letting me know" said Naruto as he vanished from his mindscape.
Kanae was a nervous wreck Naruto was staring at her for a while before he shook his head and slowly pulled her into a hug.
"It's nice to finally meet you" Naruto whispered. Kanae burst into tears at those words, "Me too Nii-san" Kanae sobbed.
The scene between the two siblings was met with different reactions. Rindo, Tsukino and Sakura thought it was wholesome.
Kakashi felt an immense regret coming over him if only tried to be a part of Naruto's life earlier on, maybe things could've been different.
Zabuza on the other hand was slightly shitting himself, 'I almost killed the King of Hell's sister'
Naruto then took of one of his bracelets and tied it on Kanae's wrist.
"When you're in danger channel your chakra to this bracelet and I'll appear" Naruto whispered as he kissed Kanae's forehead.
"Oh, Zabuza tell that Ice Release user that I said sorry" said Rindo as he and Naruto vanished with a pillar of smoke.
Iwagakure - One month later
Naruto's Apartment
"Wakasa what did you do to my hair!?" Naruto yelled. Wakasa put down a pair of scissors as he looked at his masterpiece.
"Looking fresh blondie" Wakasa said. "Dude I look like a fucking palm tree" said Naruto.
Naruto's was cut at the bottom half and the top was styled so that Naruto's golden spikes pointed downwards.
"An awesome palm tree you mean" said Wakasa as he quickly pierced Naruto's ears in a blink of an eye.
"Now you look fire" Wakasa then took a picture of Naruto and opened the door with Rindo and Kurotsuchi entering the room.
"You look ridiculous"
SMACK
"Oww... "
"What he means is that you look great Naruto" said Kurotsuchi. Naruto gave his childhood friend a beautiful smile only for her to cutely blush.
"Thanks Kurotsuchi. So what's in the bag?" Naruto asked.
"I got you a little present" Kurotsuchi replied as she handed the bag to Naruto. Naruto opened the bag and took out a chestnut brown leather jacket with the Uzumaki spiral on the left sleeve.
"Whoa, this must've been expensive" said Naruto. "Custom made, the jacket has several seals. One of them is to make sure that the jacket never gets damaged" said Kurotsuchi.
"Thanks Kuro" said Naruto as he put on the jacket. "How do I look?" asked the blonde.
"Fresh"
"Cool"
"Hot"
"What was that Kurotsuchi?" asked Rindo. "Nothing!" Kurotsuchi squeaked. Naruto chuckled at his friend's antics as Kasumi entered the room.
"Hey Kasumi how's it going?" said Wakasa "I'm still not going out with you" said the green haired jonin.
"One of these days you'll realize the greatness that is Wakasa Kozaburo" Wakasa said as he jumped out the window.
"Finally" Kasumi sighed. "You three listen up" said the jonin.
"You've been nominated for the upcoming Chunin Exams held in Konoha" said Kasumi as she looked at Naruto.
"When is it starting?" Naruto asked.
"Two weeks" Kasumi replied as she handed out the application forms.
"You don't have to take the exam if you think you aren't ready" Kasumi said. The three genin smirked, "Sensei we're more than ready" said Naruto.
Konoha
Akimichi BBQ
"... And then he threatened to kill Tsukino" said Kanae. Kanae was sitting with her classmates and their senseis.
"Why?" asked Shikamaru. Tsukino shrugged as she grilled a piece of meat, "Something about proving his existence" answered the Uchiha princess.
"Man, Suna nins are wierd" said Kiba.
Kiba had messy brown hair, sharp black eyes with vertical slit-like pupils, pronounced canine teeth, and nails that he can change into claws.
He also has the distinctive red fang markings of the Inuzuka clan on his cheeks.
"Well was he cute at least?" asked Ino. "He's not bad if you're into the whole edge lord vibe" said Tsukino.
"Aww, I thought he'd look like this" said Ino as she pointed at a picture of Rindo.
"Hey isn't that Kanae's brother's teammate?" asked Sakura. "Wait, so you've met him?" said Ino. Kanae nodded " Yeah he's the one who saved us. His name is Rindo"
Hinata blushed as she glanced at Rindo's picture, something that didn't get unnoticed by her Jonin sensei.
"Where did you get the picture from?" asked Choji. "From this magazine" said Ino holding a cover of 'Shinobi Weekly.'
"Rumor has it that Iwa sending him to the exams" said Kakashi. A red eyed woman watched as Ino paged through the magazine and her eyes landed on a specific blonde ninja.
"Is that Lord Fourth's son?" Hinata asked. The table then crowded around Ino as they tried to take a look at the article, quickly annoying the blonde kunoichi who greatly valued her personal space.
"Everyone please back up" sweetly said the blonde Yamanaka.
"Give me that I'll read it" said the red eyed woman. "Naruto Uzumaki is one of Iwagakure's top ninja despite being a genin for seven months. Trained and mentored by the Third Tsuchikage Naruto has been making waves since his graduation. Most notably sealing an S-ranked demon and defeating Raiga Kurosuki. He is held in high regard in the Land of Demons, The people of the Katabami Gold Mine and the Land of Waves. Alongside his teammates Rindo Shiba and Kurostuchi they are known to be Iwa's most successful genin team in history..."
"Well, damn"
"BARK"
"And that's Kanae's brother?" asked Kiba. Kanae nodded as she grew a devious smirk "And Tsukino's crush" which caused said girl to choke on her meat as everyone laughed.
"Dude I'm so hungry I can eat a whole cow" said Naruto. "Relax man let's sit down first" said Rindo as they passed the Konoha rookies.
"My God he's the spitting image of him" said the red eyed woman as she saw Naruto give Kanae a wave.
"Yeah, makes you feel disgusted that the village didn't treat him well despite being the son of their hero" said Kakashi.
"Pshh, he doesn't look so tough" said Kiba. "Umm didn't you hear that article? He killed one of the Seven Swordsmen" Shikamaru said.
"Kiba under any circumstances don't provoke the Iwa genin" said the red eyed woman. "Kurenai I think you're being too harsh on the kid" said Asuma.
"Hey Naruto, how does it feel being back here?" Kurotsuchi asked as the trio ate. Naruto shrugged
"It's been nine years since I was here so I'm kinda indifferent" Naruto then glanced at the Konoha ninja and locked eyes with Tsukino who looked away with a small blush on her face.
"Looks like you've got an admirer" teased Rindo.
"Shut up, I saw you checking out that Hyuga girl when we got here"
"Touche"
"You guys are so stupid" said Kurotsuchi. "Screw this I'm gonna go ask her out" said Naruto as he stood up.
"Wait you guys are from different villages more specifically villages that hate each other" said Kurotsuchi
.
"Who cares?"
Kurotsuchi sighed as she watched her best friend walk towards the Konoha ninja. "I hope this doesn't come and bite us in the ass" said Iwa's princess.
"And don't think about asking that Hyuga out" said Kurotsuchi as Rindo sheepishly rubbed his head.
"Oh my God, he's coming over. How do I look?" asked Ino as she saw Naruto walking towards them.
"Like someone who he's not interested in" whispered Shikamaru causing Kakashi and Kiba to snicker.
"Hey Nii-san" said Kanae as she gave him a hug. "Hi Kanae. I was wondering if I can talk to your friend" said Naruto.
The redhead raised a curious eyebrow "Which one?"
"The one with the blue top" answered the blonde. Tsukino's heart started to beat faster than a drummer on cocaine.
"Um, what can I help you with?" Tsukino asked. "I wondering since it's been a while since I've been here, think you could show me around?" asked the blonde.
The entire table went silent at that question. From this moment onwards Naruto gathered the respect of the men who were seated, because he just did the most bravest thing in the village: asking out Tsukino Uchiha.
Tsukino on the other hand almost had a heart attack. Her 'crush' (because she will never admit it) asked her out, she must be dreaming
"Umm sure" replied the Uchiha princess. Naruto then gave her a beautiful smile "Sure, tommorow afternoon yeah?" asked Naruto to which Tsukino nodded.
"Yo Naruto let's go" said Rindo "Oh yeah before I leave, I didn't get your name" said Naruto.
"My name is Tsukino, and I already know yours" Tsukino replied. "Tsukino huh? Beautiful name for a beautiful girl" said Naruto as he left the restaurant.
The girls (Including Kurenai) squeled and proceeded to congratulate the Uchiha princess, while the guys were discussing how Naruto will be hunted by Itachi and Tsukino's Father and maybe Shisui.
In the Uchiha district three men sneezed.
Iwagakure
"Our forces have successfully infiltrated the Land of Grass and now we can begin the second phase, which is infiltrating Kusagakure no Sato" said Kitsuchi.
Onoki smiled as he read through the mission reports from Kitsuchi and his spies.
"Kitsuchi, call Manjiro and Toji" said Onoki as he floated towards the window.
The Tsuchikage smiled his plan was going smoothly. If all went well the Land of Grass will be colonized within a day
. As Onoki looked out the window three massive airships bearing the Iwa symbol flew over the village.
The Elemental Nations will soon witness the golden era of Iwagakure no Sato, and Onoki was grateful that he was still alive to see it.
