Disclaimer: I don't own the Harry Potter or Fantastic Beast franchise; they are the sole property of its creator, JK Rowling, and Warner Brothers Studios and gaming. I'm mostly writing this because I happen to be a big fan of the franchise, and it's my way of paying tribute to Alan Rickman, who portrayed Severus Snape the best. Enjoy

The Night of the Death Eater Slaughter

Located somewhere in Cheshire, a small village was kept hidden from the outside. With only a few lamp posts to light the way, it was the only thing that shown any sign of moderation or advancements. A forest was hidden by the fog rolling in, while resting near it, a well-kept orphanage was shown on top of a hill, known as the Three Bears Orphanage.

There, a figure walked in from the shadows, as he managed to go through the fog. And then, in a bizarre show, the fog around them began to expand away, making it a clear area as they looked about, and was revealed on sight. He was a thin adult man with sallow skin, with a large, hooked nose. He was dressed in flowing black robes which made him resemble "an overgrown bat". He had shoulder-length, greasy black hair which framed his face in curtains, curling lips and dark, penetrating eyes that resembled tunnels. He had a strong, authoritative presence with him. In his hand was a black wand as he sheathed it in his sleeve, as he looked about.

But then caught movement at the building, looking at the shadowed corner, as he spoke in a soft, contained voice, "I was wondering when you would show up... Remus Lupin."

At the moment when that name was called, he walked out of the shadows to reveal himself. He had a pale face with premature lines, and light brown hair. His clothing was shabby and patched. Standing six feet tall, light looking in weight, he seemed strong enough to carry a suitcase, as he walked in.

"Severus," he spoke, sounding rather concerned and jumpy at the scenario as he asked, "Are the rumors true? Were they all attacked?"

"There was a mole in the circle; we were betrayed," Severus said as the two walked in thought as they approached the orphanage. "Everyone was attacked. The Longbottoms were alive but due to the effects of the curse, I fear they may never be able to recover. Not even to be with their only child."

Remus then asked, "And James and Lily?"

Severus stopped as he almost went cold from the mention of those names, as Remus got his answer. The brown-haired haggard man looked in shock as he took this news, "Not them."

The Dark Clad man merely composed his stature, as he seemed to try and hold it in. But inside.. even to a layman... he was breaking from this news.

But then regained the means to speak as he asked, "What of the Lamarn family?" Remus was quiet on this, as Severus sighed, "So we've all lost someone important."

"You more than anyone. Serena was a member of your House," Remus replied.

Severus sighed, as he crossed his arms, "In true honesty, this night has no more been one at loss due to all of her family."

Remus shook his head, as the dark clad man turned to him, as Lupin answered, "Not all of the Lamarn family. Their son... Silas... is still alive, thanks to his parents' sacrifice."

Severus's cold face seemed to have a twinge of light to it, as he asked, "Where is the child now?"

"With us. Scamander was called upon to look after him," Remus answered.

Severus and he stopped not too close to the orphanage as he asked, "And Dumbledore trusts a Magizoologist?"

"He's trusted Newt in the past with the Grindelwald case," Remus knelt down and put the case down. "He'd trust him with this."

And suddenly the suitcase opened up... and out climbing from it like they were on a ladder, was a gentleman with a bundle in his arms. He was a tall wizard possibly about 6'1", with brown hair with a grey streak behind him and on his sides, hazel eyes. He gave off the appearance of a slight, awkward man, but in actuality he was actually rather muscular. His attire included a blue coat, brown vest, white shirt, bow tie, dark brown trousers with a wand holster, and brown boots. He also owned a yellow and black trimmed scarf around his neck and shoulders, and had in his right arm a small white bundled cloth.

He looked to the two gentlemen as he nodded, "Professor Snape, Remus Lupin."

"You actually stayed in your shelter while Lupin carried you," Severus asked calmly as the gentleman stepped out.

"It was a good way of making sure nobody spotted me," Newt Scamander replied. "If anyone spotted me, we'd be in trouble. And I didn't have any Polyjuice potion on me."

He looked at the orphanage, not noticing a small tiny thing pop out of the suitcase before anyone had a chance to notice, "This place seems nice. Trees seem plentiful, plenty of open fields..."

"The muggles here as well as the family that runs the orphanage are decent," Remus said as they walked to the front door. "They treat the children here rather well, so it's perfect for Silas. Dumbledore picked a good place for him. Far from the magic community til he comes to age."

Scamander walked to Severus and passed him the bundle, to which Severus didn't seem to want to take it, as Newt asked, "Well... don't you want to hold him?" A little green twig-like creature popped up from his collar as it squeaked a bit, as it pointed to the bundle, "Pickett's taken a liking to him, and don't get me started on Teddy's little ones."

"I'll take it to heart for you, Scamander," Severus replied rather bluntly. Remus and Newt shook their heads with sighs, as Remus finally said, "Merlin's beard, Severus Snape. He's your godson! And he's the only living reminder of Serena Parker."

Severus then gently reached out to hold the bundle, revealing it to be a baby Caucasian brown-haired boy only a few months old. Severus looked down to the child, as he asked, "Was Albus alright with my decision to change the boy's name?"

"He was, but I must confess, it is a rather unusual request for him to have your last name," Remus replied as they still didn't notice a brown ball gently rolling its way from everyone's sight, as Remus asked, "May I ask why?"

"We both know who it was that killed his parents. He'll be relentless to hunt down any survivors. Having the name Larman or Parker will mark him wherever he goes," Severus replied. "If he goes by a different name, he won't bother to go after him. And he can pass on as my nephew as such, so it will account as a measure of security."

He then gently laid the baby at the doorstep, gently patting the child's heat, stroking the hair a bit. Though a sad chirping sound was heard as the two saw Newt's little friend Pickett looking sad, as he gently nuzzled him, "He's so attached."

Remus smiled as he said, "Oh, you two... it's not goodbye. Not for real." He and Newt walked away as Lupin replied, "Severus, if there's anything you want to say to him, we'll give you some privacy before we take off."

Severus sighed, as he shook his head. But then took out a letter addressed to the location, but with a stamp of a sigil of what appeared to be a school house's insignia of four sigils on a shield. He then looked to see the two walk away for a moment, as the fog was slowly coming in, as Severus whispered, "I don't expect much from you, so as to never burden you with great and weighed disappointment. And I don't know what you would expect of me to say; I am not someone one would consider a role model, or even a father figure." He looked away for a moment until he looked to him again, "But I guess… it wouldn't hurt if you were to end up a halfway decent wizard." And then he walked up as he knocked on the door.

He then walked away from the door, but stole a glance as he said, "Good luck... Silas Snape."

And with that.. he and the other two disappeared in ribbons of color and flashed like lights going out.

At the moment, the door opened revealing a seven-year-old girl with red hair done in two braided pigtails and a white night gown, as she looked down with her green eyes. She then called out, "Mama! it's a baby!"

At that moment, from the bushes, watching the girl's mother come out and carefully pick up the child as they took him inside, all while something in the bushes watched.

It was a small brown furred creature, rodent-sized and as big as a golf ball, with a tiny snout similar to that of a platypus, tan flesh, similar to that of a platypus in build and had hands and feet like a mole Nifflers were rodent-like creatures with a long snout similar to that of a platypus and a coat of black, fluffy fur. and a small fluff of fur to its tail, and big greenish blue eyes. It then disappeared into the bushes again.
