Cenrid needs an army and peasants make expendable soldiers. An AU for what would have happened if Merlin was conscripted into Essetir's army before coming to Camelot. Merlin's not as naive as he would have been had he just been a farmer. As such Merlin knows not to wholeheartedly trust advice from strangers (or dragons). Takes place at the start of season 1.

[WIP] Gen fic, no slash: Shortly after coming to Camelot, physician's apprentice Merlin learns that Prince Arthur is suffering from a mysterious ailment nobody is willing to talk about. The Prince keeps to his chambers and is in danger of losing his status as heir apparent to the throne. When Merlin finally comes face to face with him, the Prince and he do not exactly hit it off.

Arthur and Merlin are captured on a hunting trip and taken to a kingdom where nobles are despised.

Morgana teaches a history class and is annoyed by what she's supposed to teach her class about King Arthur.
