Act 1

Scene 1- Pheonix Airport

Enter Bella

Bella- Farewell, O land of sparse beauty. Farewell, land of warm

and golden orbs. Farewell, my home. I bid you adieu as to stormy

exile I go. From light to gloom I doth fly. This bird of metal hath

unmoving wins that yet lend to flight. Oh that it doth not leap from

ground to cloudless sky and stayeth here despite its purpose. Adieu,

adieu, City of the Firebird. I bid adieu. Myself I banish to dreary

Forks, that I detest.

Scene 2- Forks

Enter Bella and Charlie

Charlie- Ah, my daughter, it dost mine eyes well to see thee in all

health good and none sour. The days and hours have changed thee

not. How farest Renée, thy mother?

Bella- Mother mine, tis fine. 'Tis good to see thee as well, Father.

Charlie- I have found a good car for thee. 'Tis cheap.

Bella- What kind of car, pray tell? From whence did it come?

Charlie- Mine friend, Billy Black, hast no need of his truck. Dost

thou rememb'r him?

Bella- No.

Charlie- He is in a wheelchair presently and cannot drive. Billy

off'réd to sell me 't cheap.

Bella- How much whilst it cost me?

Charlie- 'Tis yours already.

Bella- I thank you.
