A/n this wasn't supposed to get done today and I hardly planned on it but after three hours this was done so i'll upload it so I hope that anyone who reads it likes it. As always R and R.

D and T-chan were at Leon's apartment. The door was hanging wide open and that put them on high alert. As a cop Leon never even forgot to lock his door let alone left it wide open so that anyone could walk in.

The apartment was slightly messy and there wasn't much laying around unlike the last time that D had been here so Leon must have cleaned up then. Any other day and this would have made D smile but today he was far too worried about the man himself.

Further into the room there was a trail of blood on the carpet and by the looking of the stain it hadn't been there for very long. At one point the stain was larger and there was a soiled towel crumpled near it.

The sudden sound of harsh coughing and a half shouted curse pulled his attention away from the blood.

"Leon?" He called out in a worried tone as he went over to the bathroom which was where the sound had come from.

There wasn't an answer. Leaving T-chan in the other room the D entered the bathroom shocked at what he saw. He had thought the detective looked bad yesterday but compared to now the man had been at the peak of health.

Leon was pale and shivering. He was wearing only a muscle shirt that was stained with blood. His coat and t-shirt lay abandoned on the floor beside the toilet. In one hand the man held a needle and thread that he was using to stitch shut a knife wound luckily there was no hint of infection to be seen.

With steady hands D finished what the detective had started.

Leon gratefully allowed D to do it. He felt so tired and he probably would have passed out if he had to finish it himself.

After taping gauze to wound area, D help Leon get off the bloody shirt and added it to the pile on the floor. Afterward he led the man to his bed and helped him lay down. As much as the count wanted to have some answers Leon needed rest more than he needed the explanation. Without prompting the man-eater got into the bed with the ill and injured man so as to preemptively ward off nightmares.

Once Leon was settled the count went back in the bathroom and bagged up the clothing. Then he went and grabbed the towel. After that he cleaned up the blood. When he had finished he decided that he would wash the clothes too.

As the count was cooking a meal that would reheat nicely whenever the detective work he was startled by a whisper.

"D," Leon called out before a coughing attack assaulted him.

D hurried over with a glass of water and helped Leon drink it.

Leon tried to speak again but was shushed by the kami. "No need to explain right now my dear detective. Go back to sleep." For once Leon did as he was told.

When Leon woke he was sure that he had dreamed that D had helped him. But when he felt T-chan's warm wool beneath his hand he knew that it had happened.

"Good morning," D said when he saw that Leon was awake again. Leon nodded his greeting not wanting to risk another fit.

After a little bit of water he said, "Sorry."

D looked at him quizzically.

"I meant to come home and rest. Then I was gonna go back to the shop and... uh..." Leon trailed off with a slight blush. 'way too go' he mocked himself. 'really smooth Leon. A blushing virgin confronting her crush is braver than you.'

"What happened?" D asked not caring about the blush for now.

Leon was happy to change the subject. "I tried to but then I was called in on a case that I had had before. I was feeling alright 'cause I had taken medicine. But I got stabbed when we went after the guy. They wanted to take me to the hospital but I wanted to go home so I convinced them that it was only a scratch and walked away before they had a chance to argue."

"Do you not trust me Leon?"

"Of course I trust you." Leon replied not even thinking before he said it.

"Then why can't you depend on me. You could have called or had one of your co-workers drive you. Yet you recklessly did everything by yourself." The count said angrily.

"But I-" Leon began to protest before realizing he didn't know what to say. He wasn't reckless by nature he was reckless by circumstance. Life taught him at a young age to depend on himself and that kind of control was ingrained in him. He didn't think that it had been bad enough to warrant asking for help but obviously he was wrong.

"It's alright." the count said gently. At that point Leon realized that he had begun to cry. Instantly mortified he reached to wipe them away jarring his injured arm in the process.

He gasped trying to steady his breath all the while feeling intense pain. He was such a screw up after this he wouldn't have to worry about his feelings or depending on the count because the guy had seen how weak he was and that would be the end of it.

Leon just closed his eyes wished he could bang his head in the wall just to put himself out of his misery but he was denied even that comfort.

T-chan looked over at D silently asking him to address the rotten mood of his favorite chew toy.

D frowned. It made him quite sad to have to see his detective in such a mood. Humans were quite odd at time especially Leon.

"Leon," the kami said quietly.

Leon looked up and as soon as their eyes connected the count swooped in with a kiss.

Love was a language that all creatures understood.
