!SUPER ULTRA IMPORTANT AUTHOER NOTE!
Alrightyo guys. I made a couple small, but very important to the plot, changes to the last chapter. Here's the change so you don't have to go back and read it again, unless you, of course, want to: when Jayfeather and Briarlight go to the twenty-second century, they don't turn completely into to humans. In human form, they still retain their ears and tails. Their pants have tail holes in the back of them, kind of like Build-a-Bear clothes, if you know what I mean. Also, Jayfeather's ears are hid by his spikily shaggy hair.
Sorry about that guys. The plot wasn't flowing correctly, so I took an idea from anime and used it ^.^ (kawaii!) I hope this doesn't terribly screw up what little feelings of continuity this story remotely had. Sorry.
And merry Christmas, to whoever celebrates it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Sherlock Holmes in the Twenty-Second Century or Warriors. After the mess up I made, no one would want to sell me the copyrights to their company ._.'
Chapter 6: To the World Outside
22nd Century
After the argument, all was peaceful over their little group.
"Umm, Holmes?"
"Yes, Briarlight?"
"Umm, well, I assume that we'll have to figure out how to... how to possibly cure my legs first, so if we have some time, I was wondering if we could go to some sort of place with trees," Briarlight mumbled out. The last few words were very rushed and she looked down at her lap with a slight blush on her cheeks and her ears flat against her head. It was as if she was trying to curl into an embarrassed ball by leading with her ears and only with her ears.
"I don't see why not. Do you Holmes?" asked Lestrade.
"No, I don't think so, except for her ears and tail. And Jayfeather's tail as well."
"People will just think they're a couple of your new, albeit older, Irregulars that like to cosplay. It'll work. But why do you want to go somewhere with trees?"
"Because they live in a forest, my dear Lestrade, and in this scenario they probably miss home already and want any sense of normalcy they can get, am I correct?" asked Holmes, with an intelligent twinkle in his eyes.
"Oh, yes," replied Briarlight, "I feel like it's been moons since I've seen some real forest. In fact, it has been moons, since I've been confined to camp with my useless legs."
"Yeah, it also feels like moons to me. I already miss ThunderClan's familiar territory beneath my paws."
"I don't miss that much. For the most part I just miss not having paws."
"Yeah, I miss that too. It feels so weird being a twoleg. At least we have our ears and tails. So, where are we going?"
Lestrade replied, "I was thinking New London Park. It is only a couple of blocks away from here. But how will we get Briarlight and Jayfeather there?"
"Elementary, my dear Lestrade. I figure that Jayfeather could carry Briarlight while Briarlight guides Jayfeather. he can give her a piggyback ride."
"Umm, what's a piggyback ride?" Jayfeather fretted nervously.
"Oh, it's easy. Jayfeather crawl over towards my voice and give me your hand," Lestrade commanded.
Jayfeather crawled. Using his powers, he delved into Lestrade's thoughts. 'Hand... hand. What in the name of StarClan is a hand?' Shifting through Lestrade's mind, he figured it out. 'Oh, yeah, one of my front paws.' Jayfeather stuck out his hand and Lestrade hefted him to his feet. "Hey, I'm standing on two legs! A little wobbly, but no worse for wear.'
Next, Holmes hoisted Briarlight. She let out a small shriek and Holmes started. "Did I hurt you?" he inquired.
"No, no," Briarlight assured, "I was just startled, that's all. And besides, I can't even feel my legs and tail, so you could not hurt me."
"All right, Jayfeather, Holmes is going to bring Briarlight behind you. You're to support Briarlight's legs and she's going to wrap her arms around your neck. You'll be her legs and she'll be your eyes."
Jayfeather gave a nod and braced himself to bear Briarlight's weight. When she was positioned, he grunted and repositioned himself. "Hey, you actually don't weigh that much. You haven't been forgoing your share from the fresh-kill pile, have you?"
"No!"
Jayfeather's answer came too quick and he knew even without going into her mind that Briarlight had,in fact, not been taking her share of prey again. "We'll talk about this when we get home," he said with a steel edged voice that offered no room for argument.
"Sorry Jayfeather," Briarlight murmured.
Jayfeather heaved a sigh. "Just... don't do it again."
"Okay."
"All right, now that you two have sorted out your problems, it's time to go to New London Park."
Briarlight gave a giggle of happiness and the two former cats stepped out of the flat and into the unknown.
From across the street a shadow lurked. With binoculars, he saw two figures step out of an apartment. The male had the female on his back. They both looked in awe at their surroundings. The female really perked the interest of the shadow. Zooming in, the binocular's sensors did, in fact, indicated that the cat ears on her head were real. The shadow gave a smile. The Professor would be pleased with its findings. And if the shadow were to capture the mysterious creature, why his whole gang would be able to join the Professor's criminal empire. It watched as two detectives stepped out behind the first two figures. Two detectives, it seemed. One was with the New Scotland yard. The shadow would have to wait until the first two creatures were separated from the detectives. When that happened, the shadow and its gang would swoop in, incapacitate the male and bring the female to the Professor. The gang was patient. They'd swoop in like hawks and leave without a sound. They'd go to the professor bearing gifts. The shadow showed a sadistic smile and turned back down the ally, its black cape fluttering in the wind.
Soon it would strike. It just had to be patient.
