Caitlyn considered the option of leaving Piltover for a while. It wouldn't be bad, if it was just for a little while. She could leave Vi to do her work, that is, if she had any.
"Alright" she said to the cardmaster, who had been waiting for her response. "When do we leave?"
Twisted Fate smiled, but he hesitated to answer. He thought the sheriff would say no and that's why he hadn't made a proper plan yet. "When will you be able to leave?"
"Let me check my schedule." The sheriff opened one of her drawers and started rummaging through it, searching for her notebook.
Then both of them heard the loud sound of smashing glass, obviously done by the pirates. They looked at each other in horror, as they quickly made the decision of escaping through the back door.
"Ahhh... Piltover, city of Progress, technology... And great loot, if ya know where to look, hehe!" Gangplank said when he set foot in land right in front of his ship.
Graves who was next to him responded "Tell me about it, I..." All of a sudden his eyes opened wide. His face started getting red and his hands were squishing his shotgun.
Gangplank, confused, looked at what had his partner's dirction of view and he realised what brought the outlaw in such a condition. Twisted Fate, along with Caitlyn, was in the port too.
Fate and Cait started getting closer, before realizing the presence of their enemies. The cardmaster winced a little and the sheriff raised her eyebrows.
Graves, then, put up his shotgun angrily and started walking towards the cardmaster, but Gangplank grabbed him by the shoulders. "Are ya crazy? Not in front of so many people! And in front of the sheriff too!" shouted the mighty pirate.
Twisted Fate was aware of what was going to happen. Caitlyn motioned him to ignore them. "Don't worry, mate, I'll handle them" she said in her british accent.
"I DON'T CARE!" Graves replied as he escaped from the captain's grab and aimed straight at Twisted Fate's head. But right before he was able to pull the trigger, the cardmaster and the sheriff fell in the ground, covering their heads.
"What was that? Luckily, they didn't see me..." Graves whispered clueless.
"Ahoy mate! We got company!" Gangplank said as he noticed a small GROUP of Bilgewater's pirates chasing the couple and shooting at them.
In a minute the port turned into chaos. People started running and screaming, trying to get away from the pirates' range. In all this madness, Gangplank managed to maintain a cool head and said to his partner:"Well, I know y'are gonna hate me for this, but trust me, I got a plan!"
"You?... A plan? That's terrifying as it is... Anyway, what do we do?" Graves replied as he was trying to calm down.
"Look, we need Fate, but we need him ALIVE! So, we jump in and save him from our rivals. Sarah probably assigned every pirate he owed her a favour with this task." explained Gangplank.
"Hmph... I see... What about the sheriff?"
"Save her too, I need a good relationship with Piltover... Politics my friend" Gangplank sighed at this last sentence.
"I said I'd handle them" Caitlyn said to Twisted Fate after they both got up. She took out her rifle and started shooting at all directions, always aiming for the pirates.
"Alright" said Twisted Fate and played along by throwing his enchanted cards.
Many pirates had guns like the sheriff's. That means that our heroes had to duck a lot to avoid bullets flying their way from almost everywhere. One of them passed very close to the cardmaster's arm. Luckily, the bullet didn't get stuck to his skin, even though it managed to wound him.
He couldn't suppress a scream of pain. "I'm hurt!" he shouted in realization.
Caitlyn, who was starting to enjoy the current situation, turned and looked at him horrified. "You're hurt?" she repeated, looking at his arm. "Oh no! We must... do something! Get you to safety!" she said, panicking.
The cardmaster grimaced from the pain when blood started leaking out of him, staining his black jacket. The sheriff saw the blood and panicked even more. "Run! Run away, to somewhere safe! I'll get to you when the fight is done!" she said very, very fast.
"I can still fight.." said Twisted Fate, pressing his arm to stop the bleeding, even slightly.
"If you say so" replied Caitlyn, and, after shooting him a look of worry, she went back to shooting pirates with her rifle.
Twisted Fate wanted to fight, but he didn't want to risk any more injuries. So he distanced himself a bit from the big crowd and sat down. When he got comfortable enough, he tried to keep up, using his enchanted cards as before, but at a much slower pace.
Then, a very ugly-looking pirate noticed that he was vulnerable and launched at him. He had a quite obnoxious face that would make even Gangplank (who was familiar with pirate faces) hate him, and one of his eyes was fake. At that point, Caitlyn prevented the ugly sailor from hitting Twisted Fate. She knocked his fat belly with her rifle violently, sending him a couple of meters away.
After this incident, they saw Graves and Gangplank approaching them, but they couldn't perceive their motives.
"Oh, no, not now..." muttered Twisted Fate, clenching his fists both in anger and in an effort to numb the pain.
