"Listen Fawn, I know you are hiding books somewhere," the guards voice was surprisingly warm and inviting. No longer was he terrifying, but actually friendly looking. His blue eyes seemed to smile, and his mouth was curved into a smile. He reached inside his jacket and pulled out a small book. My whole body started to tremble as he handed it to me. "I have books too," he said with a grin. "I can give you more books, and show you where there are thousands of books." The smile on his face faded away, "we have to get all of the books here before the government takes them away." Before I knew it, he had left. The words he said were still ringing in my ears. The book in my hand was missing a corner of the cover, and a few pages had dirt marks in them. A small paper fluttered to the floor. Picking it up, I discovered that his name and address were printed neatly on it. "Toby Reed," I read aloud.
