A/N: after two months I m updating this. I m sorry. I know I'm late, But I m getting distracted by one shots. But I still am trying to keep my multichaptered fics active. Thanx for not giving up on me. Enjoy please

In the dead of the night, water was splashing everywhere. It was raining heavily and she was nearly out of breath. She was in bad shape. Black locks of her hair plastered on her face, rain peltering her. Lightening illuminated the area for a second before a loud clap of thunder rumbled the sky. But she could not stop. Those rascals won't let her go. She was stuck. All of sudden someone grabbed her from her waist and threw her against another. She let out a shrek of shock and surprise. Then she was thrown against the mudfloor of woods. She collided with ground quite roughly, maybe broken even few bones. She scrambled to, picked herself up and limped again. Her knee had collided quite badly against the ground and was, no doubt, shattered. But ignoring the scream of protest of her body, she ran from those men, atleast tried to. But soon one of them grabbed her and tossed her to the floor like a ragdoll. She knew it was futile attempt but again tried to get up, when one of them pinned her against the ground.

Fear seized her.

FLESH

BLOOD

DEATH

She started shaking voilently underneath him. And started to blabber in some weird language they didn't know. Darkness of the night did nothing to hide her fear from them or their lust from her. All sudden she pleaded, her eyes still shut with overwhelming fear, tears were immidiately washed off by rain.

"Please jane do mujhe"

They laughed her off.

"Maine kya bigada hai tumlogo ka...(sob)...Main toh madat karr rahi thi...(sob)...Jane do...(sob)..."

But her pleads were drowned in the rain. Sky rumbled with a loud clap of thunder. And the woods rang with hauntingly shrill shreak of pain...

Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Late afternoon in CID Bureau. It was plunged into deadly silence. Only sound that could be heard was clicking of keys and turning of papers. Every officer was cautious as if walking on eggshells and watching their Boss.

Right now ACP Pradyuman looked less like a man and more like a ticking bomb, cut wrong wire and BOOOOMMMMM

Quiet words of Muskann wafted in the office.

"Vivek, kya jaroorat thi discharge lene ki? Aaj hospital mein hi rehjate toh achha tha"

"Muskann main thik..ah..hu.."

"Khak thik ho..paer sooja hua hai..main kuch nai janti. Tum wapas hospital jaarahe ho..bas"

"Muskann.."

"ACP sir ka written order lau?"

"Nai"

"Toh?"

"Thik hai. Chala jaunga"

"Good"

Another voice boomed..

"Kaha jaoge Vivek?"

"Sir, kahi nai"

"ACP sir, Vivek k paer mein soojan hai. Isse aaj discharge nai lena chahiye tha", Muskann explained.

"Thanks Muskann", Vivek huffed angrily. He knew what was to come next, and as expected...

"Ye sab Jay k wajah se hua. Itni gaerjimmedaar kaese hosakti hai wo?" ACP rants again.

Vineet tries in vain to save his best friend, "Sir wo.."

"Vineet. Tum, Purvi aur Daya toh muh hi matt kholo, samjhe? Usko bachane k liye hi bologe tumlog toh."

Daya spoke tentively,"Sir, Jay aesi nai hai. Koi jaroori kaam hoga. Warna jis child kidnapping racket ko pakadne k liye usne din-raat ek kardiye, wo kyu gayab hogi last minute mein"

"Toh phone kyu nai utha rahi wo?"

"Sir...", Daya was speechless. It was true, Jay had failed to answer every call. They had been trying to ring her since the morning.

"Plan kya tha Daya infiltration ka? Yahi na k, sabse pehle Jay gang-member banke andar jaegi. Phir halat ka muabja karke hume signal karegi. Phir hum jaenge? Sabse pehla aur jaroori kaam uska tha na? Phir? Last minute mein ake aese gayab hone ka matlab? Agar sab plan k mutabik jata toh sayad Vivek ko goli nai lagti, aur na hi ek masoom mara jata"

"Sir...", Vivek tried to speak.

"Chup. Sab ne sarr chada rakha hai iss ladki ko. Majak k v hadd hoti hai. (turning to Abhijeet) phone uthaya usne?"

"Nai sir..."

"Nai uthaya, dekha...Purvi", Purvi looked horried. She doesn't have any answer to her bestie's whereabout.

"Sir?"

"Tum janti ho? Wo kaha hai?", ACP barked.

"Nai sir..."

"Nai pata...kisiko nai pata k wo kaha hai, aur lage rahe, sab, uski safai dene main", ACP muttered sarcastically and walked pass the glass door, which leads to his cabin.

"Mujhe bohut fikar horahi hai"

"Mujhe v Daya", Muskann placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Ajj tak aesa nai hua k ain waqt pr ake wo aese laparwahi kare. Pr ACP sir ko yakin kaese dilau. Upar se phone v nai utha rahi. Mujhe toh darr hai usse kuch ho na gaya ho", Daya voiced his concern.

"Wo thik hogi Daya", Muskann spoke soothingly.

"Pata hai, selfish khayal hai, pr main bohut khus hu k goli tumhe nai, Vivek ko lagi. Agar tumhe lagg jati toh mera kya hota?"

"Dayaaaa", Muskann was horrified.

"Janta hu, janta hu. Pr kya karu? Upar se Jay ki fikar", he spoke wiping his face in frustration.

"Ghar jate waqt uske ghar hote chalenge. Kahi bimar-wimar toh nai padd gayi", she suggested.

"Tum kaese jaanleti ho mere mann ki baat?" Daya held her hand.

"Kyu ki colleuge hi nai, BIWI v hu tumhari. Janti hu tumhe. Ye v janti hu k bohut pyar karte ho usse. Hum sham ko check karlenge. Aur ye v janti hu k mere motu pati ko kitni bhuk lagi hai, ajj subah se kuch v thik se nai khaya tumne", she pulled him up.

"Damn Jay, uthao", Purvi had been trying to connect to her best friend since their return. Pacing back and forth in Bureau. Rajat was slowly going crosseyed. He got up from his table, grabbed her and led her to her seat.

"Baitho", and gave a straight order. Purvi sat down grumbling along the line of bossy and 'akdu'. Rajat gave a mischeivious smile. "Chup-chap baitho. Kitna idhar-udhar ghum rahi ho. Chakkar arahe hai mujhe tumhe dekhte-dekhte"

"De..Dekhte..? Matlab", she blushed a little.

He was enjoying the scene. Those brilliant shade of red was captivating.

"Tumhe chot toh nai ayi na, Purvi?"

"Nai, Main thik hu, wo Jay..."

"Purvi bas karo, wo thik hai. Busy hogi. Aur waese v Daya sir aur Muskann sham ko jane wale hai na uske ghar. Muskann batadegi tumhe", he tried to calm her.

"Aap sahi kehrahe hai. Main Muskann se pata karlungi shan ko", she said with heavy heart.

"Achha ye batao, lunch kia tumne?"

"Nai sir, aapne?"

"Maine v nai kia. Avi jane wale tha. Tum v chalo"

"Sir thora kaam hai"

"Baad mein karlena, pehle paet puja"

"Ok sir", turns to another table "Vineet"

"Hn", Vineet looked up from his computer. He had some worry lines on his forehead.

"Chal, Lunch karke ate hai, phir khatam karlenge kaam"

"Nai tu ja Rajat sir k sath", he gave a evil smile, "bhala main kyu jau kabab ka haddi-upps-hadda banne?"

Purvi got up in embarassed anger and dragged Vineet out with smiling Rajat trailing behind.

Daya took a turn towards her home. He had to keep firm control of on the wheels as the road was slippery due to constant downpour. Muskann was on phone, informing Abhijeet that they were going to check up on her.

"Haan dada, hum ghar jaa rahe hau uske. Usse milke ghar chalejayenge"

"..."

"OK dada, apko v khabar kardungi"

"..."

"Wo toh hai, kal ACP sir uski khaal hi udhed'denge"

"..."

"Sahi kaha apne, (looks at Daya) issbaar usse koi nai bachasakta Ravan se, Daya v nai", and laughed at shocked face he was making.

"..."

"Nai, Vineet nai aya humare saath. Maine dono shaitano ko bola k khabar kardungi. Dono relax hogaye"

"..."

"Ha Ha Ha...Dada Bruno ki sirf apse dusmani hai, humari nai. Kuch nai karega", Muskann laughed remembering how pissed Bruno gets when Abhijeet is in his visible peripheri. And how comically and sucessfully he had chased the Senior Inspector around the house. Bruno had taken him as sworn enemy.

Daya too gave a mischeivious smile at the memory of never ending tug-of-war between the mentioned beast and his best buddy.

"..."

"Ok dada, bye", and she laughed heartilly.

Purvi was cleaning the dishes after the dinner. She had to force herself to eat. Anxiety and restlessness was killing her. Rain continued to pelter her window.

Finishing her chores, she walked up to the window and gazed. Rain was getting worse. Lightening flashed and thunder rumbled in every few minutes.

FLASHBACK

"Oh ho! Ye barish toh ruk hi nai rahi", Purvi closed the window forcefully. Girls had planned sleepover at Purvi's.

And rain almost ruined their plans, almost. But they too were stubborn and collected over her residence despite gloomy weather. After all it was their last sleepover before two of their 'gang', Tarika and Muskann married the man of their dreams.

"Toh hone de na barish", Tasha chided as she brought everyone hot-steamy cup of coffee.

"Abb iss barish ko toh hum rok nai sakte na, Purvi. Haan tum kaho toh Rajat kosis jaroor karsakta hai", Tarika snickered.

Purvi glared at Bridezilla no. 1 and went to another window as storm raged outside and rain threatened to enter.

"Oye, khabardar jo tumlogone iska majak banaya", Jay reprimanded. Purvi gave victorious smile which was short lived "sirf main banaungi"

All laughed at Purvi's expense, "Chup. Warna sabko barish mein bahar fekdungi", she growled.

Lightening flashed and sky rumbled with thunder. All ladies let out a startled shreak, except Jay, who was laughing at Tasha. Tasha's colour had drained from her face out of fear.

"Mujhe aese thunder aur lightening bilkul pasand nai, bohut darr lagta hai", Tasha said meekly.

All started to comment on ths topic, at last they concluded in two groups. One who feared thunder/lightening with Tasha, Tarika and Purvi, and other who did not fear. Jay and Muskann.

FLASHBACK END

"Daya, ghar pr toh tala laga hai", Muskann said checking the door.

"Kal se barish nai ruki. Aesi barish mein, itni raat ko kaha gae hogi? Muskann, andar Una aur Bruno hai kya?", Daya asked thinking. Jay never locked down the house, unless it was time for both of the pets' monthly health check-up, which ran for 3days, atleast. Otherwise she never bothered with the locks.

Both of them rounded the house and inspected from window. House was plunged into absolute darkness in the absense of its dwellers. Both the officer went aroud in neighbourhood to ask about her, ignoring the bone soaking rain.

Both of the returned around 10-15 minutes atmost.

"Kuch nai mila, Muskann. Tumhe?", Daya asked climbing on porch.

"Daya, Mrs. Mehra kehrahi thi k Jay kal se ghar hi nai lauti", Muskann informed.

Vineet was restless. He had just been informed by Muskann that Jay was not at her home. He just wanted to storm over to her house to investigate. But Daya had forbade him. At that moment he wanted to scream, "Screw You Daya sir. She is my best friend. Abhijeet sir ki khabar nai milti toh aap v ACP sir ki order ko andekha kardete" But it too was true that this maddening weather would not get them anywhere. He will have to wait for the crack of dawn.

Purvi laid on her bed shivering as the thunder boomed seconds after lightening. She really hated storms. It gave her goosebumps. But this storm, today, it was giving her creepy feeling. It felt as if sky was screaming in pain, mourning at losing someone dear to it. And her thought drifted to Jay. Muskann's call made her worry peak to whole nether level. Where was she? In this storm?

Last time she had seen her, she was distraught. Jay was never one to be afraid of anything. She was scared to nothing in particular. But yesterday? Yesterday, she reeked of pain. She looked do lost, as if her very being was haunted. She looked so scared of almost everything. She seemed scared of thunder, lightening, storm, rain and most importantly, her own dreams.

Purvi let out an exhausted sigh. Her eyes drooping out of fatigue, "Kaha hai tu Jay?"
