I don't own the Avengers
When Annie ran away from the training room to the abandoned wing of the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, she was expecting, hoping to be left alone. She sat curled into a tight ball with warm, hot tears running down her face. She couldn't tell how much time had passed or how long she had been crying but decided she couldn't care less. As she was about to venture back into her world of misery, a gentle voice broke the silence of the hallway.
"Hey...are you alright?"
Looking up, she locked eyes with cold, steel eyes. For a moment, she thought it was Adam, but the young man's eyes were too cold to be those of her teammate's.
"Who are you?" She whimpered, her tone breaking a bit as she wiped her eyes of her tears.
"I'm one of the trainees here." He sat down next to her, a low thud resounding the area. He gave her a warm smile that showed startling white teeth. "You never answered my question."
"I'm okay." Annie mumbled lowly, pointing her gaze down.
"It doesn't look you are." He responded attentively. Looking up, Annie had a chance to really look at the boy. His raven colored hair sporting a crew cut, Annie was able to see the older boy's face without any obscurities. His golden t-shirt, which would give him away in any crowd with its bright color, fit his built body well, allowing Annie a good look at the boy's great physique. Blue jeans and black running shoes covering his lower body, the only indication of the boy's affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D. being the division's emblem patched on his shirt's left sleeve. Meeting his gaze once again, Annie analyzed the boy's expression a bit. He sounds so concerned. She could see the concern and bright aura of friendliness around the boy almost as if he were glowing. Not like Max or Cassie. The thought caused a slight frown to reach her face.
"What happened?" The boy asked, steel blue baring attentively into her white-blue irises. Intrigued with the boys eyes, the young girl found herself willing to open up to this sweet boy. Letting out a frustrated sigh, Annie gathered her thoughts and took a breathe.
"It's nothing big. I mean, I've kinda dealt with being yelled at my entire life." She paused a brief moment, memories of her past reaching the forefront of her mind. Pushing them aside, Annie continued. "It just feels different hearing it from someone who's like me. Someone who's been through what I have and still shouts at me for no reason." A prolonged silence enveloped the young teens. After a few moments, Annie started fidgeting uncomfortably.
He must think I'm such a baby.
"Who's this guy anyway?" the boys voice garnering Annie's attention once again. A little taken aback that he was willing to hear her out, Annie quickly recovered, choosing to take this chance to voice her worries.
"Max." she whispered quietly, just saying the name bringing back unpleasant thoughts of the way the orange haired punk spoke to her no more than twenty minutes ago.
"Well, Max doesn't know what he's doing." He stated unflinchingly, before another of his charming smiles reached his face. "You're too sweet and adorable to yell at."Annie felt her cheeks heat up a bit before abruptly ducking her head, hoping her pink hair would conceal her equally bright blush from him. An amused laugh left the boy's lips, Annie lifting her head, captivated by his sweet voice. "What's your name?" He asked, the smile never once leaving his lips.
Paying attention to the boy's beautiful smile, Annie realized she had been staring for too long. Blushing again lightly, Annie cleared her throat quietly before answering.
"Annie."
"Alex." He extended his hand to her, Annie grabbing it timidly, her heart rate increasing a bit. Why do I feel like my heart's about to burst? She had never experienced this feeling before. It was strange and a little scary, but in a way, she liked it. Finding her voice again for the umpth time, Annie spoke a little louder than she had the entire conversation.
"Nice to meet you Alex." She told him, releasing his hand and standing upright. Extending her arms upwards, hoping to relieve some of the stiffness in her body after sitting in such a confined position for a while, Annie let out a relieved sigh from her lips. Looking back at Alex, Annie felt another blush starting to reach her face before addressing him once more.
"I should probably go...I was supposed to be training." Waving Alex a small goodbye, Annie turned and began walking to the exit of the abandoned wing, a content grin clear on her face as she left turned a corner and left the area.
Alex watched as she walked down the hallway, a small smile plastered on his face. Once she disappeared around the corner, the grin left his face, his lips forming a straight line, all emotion leaving his steel-blue eyes as he stared in the direction Annie left. Pressing a finger to the device in his ear, Alex spoke.
"I think I've got this one sir." He paused to listen to the other side of the line, his eyes never leaving the hallway. "No, it was too easy. Just complemented her and listened a little." A sneer left his lips, his eyes finally looking away from the hallway. "These so-called heroes are pathetic." He finished, his finger leaving the device as he stood up and left in the opposite direction, meeting a locked door at the end of the narrow corridor. Extending his hand towards the door, a brief sound of static emitted before it beeped lightly and opened. Stepping through the door, Alex moved his pointer finger a bit, causing the door to shut behind him before locking again. Again, Alex sneered.
These defenses are so laughable. So long as it there is technology, I can control it.
Walking through the empty halls of the Helicarrier was Alanna, her gaze focusing on the ground as she maneuvered the corridors. She had gotten quite a lecture from her mother after being taken from her team. And like every lecture, she found herself feeling self-conscience and a bit upset, though it was directed solely at herself.
What did I do wrong this time? Why can't I ever be good enough for her?
Before Alanne could sink back into her bubble of misery, she spotted a spot of pink walking merrily down the same hall. She'd recognize that bright hair anywhere.
"Hey Annie!" Alanna yelled, jogging a bit to catch up when the young pinkette turned to face her. Alanna could see a slight glint in her eyes that she hadn't seen before in the sweet girl. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah." She smiled, a slight blush adoring her cheeks, Alanna growing curious. "I'm fine. What about you? Your mom..." Annie bit her lip, unwilling to finish her thought.
Forcing a smile, Alanna shook her head, her blonde hair swaying slightly. "Don't worry about it. It was nothing, she's just...stressed." Annie didn't look too convinced, but decided to drop the topic, seeing it was something Alanna didn't want to discuss. The two girls walked down the silver, metallic hallway almost in step. The silence was deafening. Hoping to relieve the tension a bit, Annie decided to go for a bit of small talk.
"Where are you going?" she asked, smiling brightly at the bleach blonde.
"Well I'm going to see Doctor Banner." Alanna responded, noticeably more exuberant than before. "He said something about a new study in Gamma Rays the other day and I wanted to check it out." She continued, her eyes seemingly lost in interest over what she could learn from the "angry" scientist.
Annie froze in place. Alanna stopped walking and turned to face Annie. Her face white as a sheet, Annie realized she had never told anyone about her fear of doctors. It was a pathetic, silly fear she knew, but it was one of her worst ones.
"Doctor B-banner?" She asked looking like a deer in headlights.
"Yeah. He's really nice." Alanna said, looking at her friend quizzically.
"Oh...umm... I don't think-" the pinkette stuttered, racking through her brain for a good excuse. "I'm going to go do something." Annie blurted out as smoothly as she could manage before turning around, frantically walking away.
"Annie, wait!" Alanna called out, running to catch up with her friend. She came up behind Annie and grabbed onto her wrist, stopping the frantic girl's walk and making her face the telepath. "Whats wrong?" She asked, a bit confused at Annie's odd shift in behavior.
"I... I just don't like Doctors." She bit her lip, averting her gaze to the wall beside Alanna.
Alanna sighed lightly and smiling a bit to the shapeshifter. "Look Annie, Bruce won't hurt you." She assured, removing the from her wrist and placing it on her shoulder in comfort. Annie nodded, turning her head to face Alanna. The blonde gave her a reassuring nod before turning and continuing down the hall.
"Come on." She encouraged, Annie obliging reluctantly. As they walked side by side to the seminar, Annie immersed herself in her thought.
I thought the same thing about my parents too, Alanna. Look where that got me.
The thoughts threatened to drag Annie deeper into sorrow when an ear shattering explosion rocked the ground making the two girls shake and causing Annie to fall to the ground, both girls letting out a light shriek of fear.
Adam sat on the roof of the Helicarrier, one leg dangling over the edge of one of the many helipads while the other was bent, his arm resting on his bent knee. He had changed into a new set of clothes courtesy of S.H.I.E.L.D. His dark red v-neck covered with a black zip-up jacket, the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem plastered on the left sleeve of the long-sleeve jacket. His dark blue fitting jeans and black Vans completing the image that the young apprentice of "Hawkeye" Clint Barton was currently off-duty. Despite being on a small break, Adam could never break the habit of carrying a weapon with him at all times, as apparent by the single sword sheathed to his back and held by a small harness.
The wind user loved this area. The feeling of the wind brushing through his undercut black hair, the sight of the clouds rushing by at high velocity and the roaring of the spinning blades used to keep the large air-carrier from plummeting. They brought back good memories of his naive youth. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier's heliport was where he and old friends used to devise plans to prank other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. It's where he used to hang out when training was over. It's where he would practice his wind skills and push his limits with the endless air available to him in the sky. More importantly, it's where he had shared his first kiss with that special someone he holds very dear to himself.
He could still remember her scent, the soft feeling of her fingers intertwined with his, the way her soft voice sounded when she spoke, the way her upbeat attitude would brighten even his darkest days, the way her genuine laugh would pull at his heart strings and make it skip a couple beats, the way her beautiful, brownish-red irises would gaze into his blue-grey ones lovingly, radiating happiness. He remembered the day she had died her hair a mix of dark red and black along with how she cut it to a spiky crop, just reaching her shoulders when she had completed her training as an apprentice under Natasha Romanoff. She had told him it was a symbol to show how she had changed from the timid, shy girl who was rescued to the strong fighter and protector she was today. Lost in thoughts of her, he subconsciously pulled out and gripped the pendant on the black laced necklace he always wore on his person. Thinking of her brought back wonderful memories that he will always cherish, but they also reminded him of the mistakes he had made in his past that led to an unwanted outcome.
Jenny...
"Hey! Mr. Airhead! You there?" A voice yelled in his direction. One that could only to be owned by Cassandra LeBranch. Adam quickly tucked the pendant under his shirt, making sure it was hidden, before turning his head to look at the fiery red-head.
"Sorry, just got lost in my thoughts." He responded evenly, taking note of her appearance. Cassie had definitely taken a liking to the wardrobe S.H.I.E.L.D. had provided for her. She had a slimming dark grey athletic t-shirt on with red lining, the S.H.I.E.L.D. emblem patched onto her left chest area. Black S.H.I.E.L.D. issued pants with red linings rather than her typical cargo shorts adored her figure with black laced-up boots that reached up to her knees. Black fingerless gloves covered her hands and Adam noticed she now had a gun holstered on her right thigh.
She settled in pretty quick.
"Must have been some good thoughts." She said, her right hand placed on her hip. "You were smiling like an idiot." She sat down beside the wind user.
"Was not." Adam scoffed, rolling his eyes.
Cassie look at him incredulously raising an eyebrow, "Whatever helps you sleep at night." She kicked her feet over the blowing air. A comfortable silence ensued, allowing both teens to gather their thoughts peacefully. After a few seconds, Adam decided to speak up in the name of civility.
"What brings you out here?" He asked trying to make light conversation with his teammate.
She shrugged, "Same as you, to think about things."
Adam nodded and looked back to the white clouds. The sun was high in the air and Adam was starting to sweat, but he didn't care. S.H.I.E.L.D. trained him how to withstand heat and cold for missions that weren't realistic for the average person. Though Cassie hasn't trained with them as long as he has, he can tell the heat didn't bother her one bit. As they both stared at the horizon, Adam returned to thoughts of his past. After recalling his regrets and mistakes, reliving experiences he'd rather not have experienced, remembering what he'd lost and could no longer have, he exhaled a long sigh.
"Have you ever wanted to know what a normal life was like?" he asked suddenly. "Like school and stuff. Not worrying about how to survive."
"I don't want things." She replied, shrugging her shoulders.
Adam looked back at her and narrowed his blue-grey eyes, not believing what he had heard.
"Everyone wants something out of life. It's human nature." He justified.
"When you want something you get it and when you have something you can lose it." Cassie responded back, sighing before glancing at him. Adam was never an expert when it came to reading people, but he could see the pain hidden behind those green-gold eyes of hers. Those were the same eyes Jenny used to look at him with before she trained with Agent Romanoff. Not wanting to delve into a subject she clearly wasn't keen on talking about, Adam decided to divert the conversation a bit.
"Wow. Poetic. Don't tell me you like reading Shakespeare and watching romantic comedies." Adam grinned teasingly, earning a sharp glare from Cassie.
"No." She snapped "I do not."
Adam opened his mouth to say something when the roof violently shook, a clear cloud of smoke and fire emerging on the other side of the Helicarrier. Adam and Cassie jumped to their feet, exchanged glances at one another before running towards the explosion.
Max ran onto the helipad, his leather jacket blowing with the intense winds of the sky. Looking in the direction of the explosion, he saw a group of people engaging S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. Analyzing at their uniforms, he noticed they were similar to the garbs worn by the mutants who attacked the city were wearing. Only the markings on the suits were green instead of white.
Seeing a chance at redemption, Max ran into the battle, gathering shadows in the area. When he reached the battlefield, he grabbed a mutant's shoulder and hit him with a strong right cross, knocking over the edge of the Helicarrier. Turning around, Max saw another running in his direction. Ducking beneath his first strike, Max landed a couple jabs to his ribs before knocking him over the edge with his other comrade. He turned around intending to find a different opponent, only to feel a sharp blow to his skull, causing him to crumble to the ground. His head still spinning from the hit, Max looked up to find the mutant he had just thrown off the aircraft floating above him.
"That's for knocking me over." He said, charging towards Max and punching him in the face. Noticeably groggy, he lifted Max up by his jacket before addressing him once more. "And now, I'm going to finish you off."
He punched Max again, causing a bit of blood to spill from Max's mouth. Cocking his fist another punch, a white gust of wind struck him, blowing him away from Max. Max immediately shot to his feet, a shadow spike forming beneath him and pointing it towards his savior. Adam arrived, the hand he had used to blast away the mutant now resting on the grip of his sword.
"I could have handled it!" He snapped vehemently at Adam.
"Sure." Adam retorted doubtfully, not bothering to deal with Max's attitude before drawing his sword form its sheath.
Glaring at his so-called leader, Max cursed the wind user briefly before turning away and lifting up some shadows from the ground forming them into long javelins. Noticing a group of mutants to his right, Max lunged his arm towards them, sending his javelins to the attacking mutants. Three javelins struck their targets, the shadow weapons disappearing upon impact, knocking the struck targets to the ground. Leaving himself exposed, he felt a blast hit him from behind, knocking the air out of his lungs. Max hunched over in pain but tried to steady himself. Looking towards his attacker, he saw he was surrounded with the mutants who all lunged at him at the same time. Thinking quickly, Max gathered his shadow beneath him and extended tentacles from it, striking his attackers and knocking them off their feet.
Taking a moment to gather himself, Max observed his surroundings once more. To his right Alanna and Annie were taking on a small group of mutants. Alanna would turn invisible to confuse the opponent before surprising them with a lethal punch. Annie looked a bit timid and was trying to just dodge the hits, but when a mutant lunged as her, she let out a light squeak and instinctively kicked. Her foot struck the mutant on the crotch. Hard. He went down instantly, unable to stand back up after his "family jewels" had metaphorically been kick up to his throat. Scoffing lightly at Annie, Max turned to his left. Cassie was alternating between lighting people on fire and striking them with lightning. She had her gun drawn was fire at mutants whenever she could, though they seemed to have no effect on one in particular when the bullets would just bounce off his body. Before Max could finish observing the battle, he was thrown roughly onto the ground. Careful to not let himself get pinned down, Max quickly rolled away and got back to his feet facing his attacker. She was tall and muscular, her hands coated in what looked like concrete. She stared at the young teen mockingly.
"This will be fun." She said gruffly.
Max wiped away some blood that was trickling out of his lip before extending his arms outward. Gathering more shadows from the area, Max formed a pack of shadow wolves and sent them after the muscular mutant. While concentrating on her with one hand, he formed a javelin with some more shadows on his other hand and send it flying into the chest of another mutant, the javelin again disappearing upon contact.
The battle continued and Max eventually found himself back to back with Adam. Looking over his shoulder, he noticed his "perfect" leader was sporting a few cuts on his face and a few holes and slices on his clothing. Turning his attention away from him, Max continued to form shadows and attacking his enemies, trying to keep a safe distance with his attackers. Adam's swordsmanship was superb. He would guard and parry his opponents with ease from all directions. Even those that would hit from his blind spot were finding a tough time hitting him. It was like he could sense the attacks before they could hit who were too far to engage with his sword, Adam knocked away with a strong blast of wind from his palm. Despite his open dislike for the suck-up leader of the team, Max could admit he had mad skills with the sword. Adam panted loudly as he tried to gather himself, Max not faring too well himself.
"What do they want with us?" Adam yelled over the noise of the battle.
"How the hell should I know?!" Max yelled back breathlessly before quickly ducking, barely missing a strong kick to the face. Adam knitted his eyebrows in thought.
They must have a reason for attacking us like this.
Adam turned to help his teammate when he felt something whiz by his shoulder, grazing it and opening a small cut. Adam grunted and raised his blade ready to defend. He lifted to guard at just the right moment as an assailant swiped downward, intending to cleave him in half. His blade lock with his assailant, he noticed that he had guarded against his attacker's arm. And it was coated with ice. Putting a bit of force into his guard, he pushed back, causing his attacker to stumble a bit. Noticing this lapse in footing, Adam stepped forward and lunged, intending to stab his opponent. Surprisingly, a coat of ice formed over their stomach, protecting them from a lethal impalement, thought the force of Adam's lunged caused them to move back a few feet.
Looking at the face of his attacker, he was a bit taken aback to see the face of a young girl. She looked to be just a little younger than him with piercing blue-green irises, the color making him think of a freshwater lake. Her wavy, dark chocolate brown hair was blowing wildly in the wind with two strands at the sides of her head fastened to the back of her head. Adam noticed she was wearing a different uniform from the rest of the mutants. Unlike the black and green garbs of the other mutants, she wore a skin-tight quarter-sleeved shirt with black skin tight leggings. The materials looked to be made of a lightweight bulletproof fiber due to some of the lightly protruding padding complete with a pair of black combat boots. As an addition to the outfit, she had green and blue swirling patterns embroidered on the material, almost looking like a snowstorm design on her suit. Taking in her appearance, Adam thought she was a very pretty young girl.
"You got lucky with that block of your's." She said, her voice calm and calculating. "I'll make sure the next one pierces your heart." She threatened, not the least bit fazed that she was nearly impaled through the stomach. Her unreadable expression gave away nothing to Adam.
"Sorry, wouldn't want my heart to become as cold as your's." Adam retorted. The girl let an amused grin cross her face before lunging toward Adam. As she struck out with her ice-coated arms, Adam would guard and dodge and swipe when he would see an opening. When he'd swipe, she'd dodge before going on the offensive once again. This dance continued for a while before she shot some ice spikes in his direction. With no way to guard, Adam dodge rolled to the side, the spikes narrowly missing him, only to come to the sight of the girl swinging down with her ice-arms. Again having no time to raise his sword, Adam extended his hand towards her and released a strong gust of wind, forming a sphere of wind around him that expanded, knocking the girl away with great force. She landed with a loud thud, but got back on her feet quickly. She was visibly disoriented, as apparent by the slight limp in her footing. Adam was breathing hard, growing exhausted from the fight with the ice princess. As she was gathering her breathe, a smile formed on her lips.
"You have a good handle on your powers." She spoke with labored breathe. "That's good. I haven't had a challenge like this in a while."
The way she was looking at Adam made her look older than she actually was. Adam couldn't shake the feeling that he had underestimated the younger girl.
She's tougher than I thought.
Max had his hands full battling with the many mutants alongside the S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. He was starting to tire a bit, as apparent by the much smaller shadows he had started forming due to exhaustion. His javelins weren't as long as they should be and they didn't strike with as much force as he'd like. Even his wolf-shadows were diminishing in size and number. Max took a moment to regain his senses, his breathes coming out in short pants.
He was suddenly lifted from ground by his throat before he could get his head back in the game. His attacker had a death grip on his throat and Max was starting to feel dizzy from the lack of oxygen to his brain. Gripping the wrist of the hand holding his throat, Max tried to pry his fingers open. He was losing strength far too fast though and soon found himself focusing more on getting air back into his lungs. His vision was wavering, darkness started setting in.
"Leave him alone!" Max's ears picked up before he was roughly dropped to the ground. He coughed heavily, taking as much air as he possibly could. Looking up, he saw Annie standing in front of him, shielding him from further harm. The mutant that had choked him was standing a few feet away, grinning amusingly at the young pinkette guarding the orange-haired punk. Letting out a light chuckle, he lunged at the defenseless girl. Operating instinctively, Max extended his hand out towards Annie's attacker. All of a sudden, the mutant froze in place. After the brief lack of movement, he moved slowly to mimic the stance Max was taking.
Max blinked, confuses at the strange actions of the mutant. He stood to his feet, the mutant also standing up. Testing the waters, Max lifted his arm, in which the mutant mimicked. Raising his eye brow, looked to his feet and saw his shadow had stretched and connected that of his attacker. Max smirked after putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
He can't move and I have total control of his body. Didn't know I could do that.
Before Max could take advantage of his vulnerability, something struck the mutant across his cheek, sending him reeling to the ground and breaking Max's shadow connection with him. A transparent silhouette of a female body could be seen before the body became visible a moment later. Alanna stood, staring at the unconscious form of the mutant she just struck, her shoulder-length blonde hair blowing, covering part of her face. Her S.H.I.E.L.D. issued white tank top was torn at random spots with light blood coating her shoulders. Her khaki short-shorts were also sporting some bloodied spots. The only thing without a bit of blood on it were the bleach blonde's brown hiking boots.
Max was about to give Alanna a piece of his mind for interfering when he saw some movement from the corner of his eye. Turning, he saw that one of the mutants had gotten a hold of one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s RPG-7 rocket launchers and had the large weapon resting on his shoulder, ready to fire. Taking aim, he pulled the trigger, the rocket leaving the tube and heading in the direction of the three teens. Max saw that there was no way he could stop the missile before it could strike him and was surprised to see Annie step in front of him once again. The rocket was approaching them quick and just when he thought they were done for, Alanna stepped in front of the two and outstretched both her arms in front of her. Seconds before the Rocket Propelled Grenade could impact, a transparent blue dome forcefield formed in front of Alanna's extended hands. The rocket struck the forcefield, causing a large explosion, the force of the impact knocking Alanna, Annie and Max back and to the ground.
Feeling the force of the shock wave, Adam drew his focus from the ice princess and in the direction of the explosion. That was a big mistake. With his gaze turned, Adam didn't see the girl sprint towards him. Instead of tackling the older boy, she froze the soles of her feet and extended one of them outwards on the ground, causing her to slide across the ground towards him. Ice trailing behind the girl, her foot connected with Adam's legs, causing him to be flipped over from the momentum of her slide. Standing up and looking over her shoulder at the downed S.H.I.E.L.D. recruit, she formed ice claws on her fingers and lunged at him, intending to impale him through his sternum.
As her arm lunged, a ball of fire struck her ice-clad arm, the girl releasing a pained gasp. Taking a few steps back, the teen examined her arm and was relieved to see the flames had melted the ice and didn't cause any burns to her skin. Raising her gaze up, she was met with the green-gold eyes of Cassie. Her fiery red hair lashing around from the wind, she raised one of her flame covered arms, extending her index finger and addressing the ice user, a confident smile ever present on her lips.
"Why don't you try taking me on, bitch?" She taunted, letting electricity crackle through out her body as the flames on her forearms and hands intensified.
The ice user opened her mouth to respond but halted upon hearing the distinct sound of a jet-fast troop carrier. The young teen smirked, knowing that she had ran out of time to play with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new recruits.
"I apologize, but it looks like I have ran out of time to play with you losers." She said, turning away from the duo. Before she could take two steps, a fireball struck the ground beneath her, causing her to halt in her step.
"Don't you run away from me!" Cassie yelled infuriatingly, her jaw clenched in absolutely seething rage. The cold-hearted teen turned to address the fiery redhead.
"You seem to be quite fired up. I think you need to chill out." She retorted, extending her pointer finger to the hotblooded teen. Cold white air began to form by Cassie's head before snow flakes were suddenly flung into her eyes, causing the redhead to turn away. Taking advantage of the momentary distraction, the ice user quickly froze the ground beneath her and skated across it before leaping from the Helicarrier, landing in the hanger of the MUF troop carrier with ease.
Shaking the snow from her eyes, Cassie looked back to the ice girl only to see her leap into a fast troop carrier. Enraged that she had been outsmarted by that, she took off after the MUF mutant.
Adam got back to his feet and took off after Cassie. Observing the area, the recruit leader saw that the other MUF mutants were all taking off for the two troop carriers hovering at the edge of one of the helipads.
Adam ran to the edge of the helipad alongside Cassie and watched as the two MUF troop carriers flew away. The airships were way too far away for him to reach. Although he was upset they got away, Adam wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth and took the time to catch his breathe.
Cassie wasn't as cool-headed as her comrade. The fact that the ice bitch had gotten a good hit on her and just ran away before she could leave her a mark to remember the redhead by was absolutely infuriating. The fiery redhead shot a fire ball into the air with a rage-filled cry, lighting dancing across her body at the same time.
"Damn it!" Cassie yelled to the heavens.
Waking up to a splitting headache, Max pushed himself up with a light groan. Shaking his head a bit, he scanned the environment and saw many S.H.I.E.L.D. agents bustling around, helping to carry the injured back into the Helicarrier for medical treatment. Looking to his right, he saw both Annie and Alanna lying face down unconscious. He nudged Alanna roughly with his foot to which the blonde groaned a bit before regaining consciousness. Like Max, she observed the environment but was unable to take in anything before Max gripped her arm roughly and bringing her to her feet, his angered eyes meeting stunned ones.
"Why did you interfere? I had everything under control!" He yelled. Though Alanna visibly flinched a bit at the punk's voice, she directed her eyes to the still unconscious Annie before meeting Max's eyes defiantly.
"I didn't do it for you." She whispered vehemently before yanking her arm free of his grip and kneeling by Annie. Max watched as the she tended to Annie, helping the naive pinkette come to and walking her to the inside of the Helicarrier. He scoffed lightly, still visibly frustrated with the blonde before following then inside.
Eira walked into the darkened room, up to a cloaked man. His back was to her as he was monitoring the many televisions in front of him. The ice princess took a calming breath before bowing and addressing her leader.
"The job is done." She stated bluntly, keeping her eyes directed to the floor, not wanting to offend her leader.
The man held out his hand behind him. Understanding the silent command, Eira reached into the pocket of her black suit and took out a flash drive, placing it in the cloaked man's palm.
He retracted his arm and examined the flash drive, smiling at the information contained within.
"Good work Blizzara. You are dismissed." He said, addressing her by her mutant name, never taking his gaze off the hard drive.
Eria nodded before turning away, forming a path of ice and skating out of the room.
The man inserted the flash drive into his hard-drive. After the monitor in front of him finished downloading the files, five faces appeared on screen. Each photo belonged to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s newest brats and upon clicking on either one, the file expanded. Each photo contained the history, powers, strengths and flaws of every single recruit. The man's smile widened at the information that he had managed to procure.
"Perfect."
Sorry it took so long! I'm not the normal writer for this fic, I'm just a friend of hers. I'm sorry if this is bad! I just felt bad that this story hadn't been updated in 3 months! I'm not that good of a writer though.
no flames please, but reviews are appreciated!
Yeah, I had lots of school stuff. My friend offered to write so she kinda took it up. But hopefully I'll keep up!
