A night to remember

Sharon placed the last plate in the cabinet and turned around to face the man standing in her kitchen drying the dishes. Andy handed her the silverware he just dried with a warm smile. "I think I need a walk. The food was just too good." Sharon giggled slightly. "Sounds like a good idea…stretching the legs, getting some air." Andy nodded, hanging up the towel. "Great, you'll tell Rusty and I get our coats." Sharon disappeared, knocking on Rusty's door and peaking inside after his answer. "Rusty, we are going for a walk. Do you need anything?" He barely looked up from his laptop, shaking his head. "No thanks, I am fine." Sharon nodded smiling. "Okay, till later then." He was absent-minded again. "Yeah 'later." Sharon closed the door quietly. He seemed distracted by something lately and she was wondering what had occupied his mind.

When Sharon came back into the living room, Andy had her coat ready and helped her slip into it. "Ready to go?" He asked and placed his hand gently at the small of her back. "Yes so ready, let's go." They got into the elevator, waiting silently while going down. Andy looked at Sharon scrutinizing. "Are you okay?" He asked warily and smiled relieved when Sharon nodded. "Fine, I am perfectly fine." To assure him, she gently let her hand slide in his giving him a warm smile. "Everything is fine. I just…I just worry about him you know? He seems absent. I don't know what's on his mind right now. Maybe it's nothing, he's eighteen, maybe he's supposed to be absent figuring out what he wants to do with his life." Andy nodded, drew her a little closer and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. "I am sure that's what it is. Don't worry. He's going to be okay. And if not, we are here." Sharon nodded knowingly. "I know, I know." They left Sharon's building heading down to a nearby park.

It was a warm summer night and people were crowding the little park, talking in small groups, listening to music, just relaxing after a heated day. Sharon and Andy strolled through the park until they stopped at a bench near the small watercourse, their bench. Every now and then they would take these strolls and almost always stop at the bench to sit near the water. They sat down next to each other, Andy put his arm around Sharon's shoulder, she leaned in and placed her hand on his upper leg. There was a comfortable silence between them, just looking at the light dancing on the watercourse, listening to the distant voices and sounds of the park. "Let's bring something nice for Nicole on the boys' birthday party on Sunday okay? She'll be stressed out by all the preparations. We could offer to come early to help, mh?" Sharon said letting her forehead rest at his chin and placing her hand at his chest. "I already did, she said she was fine. We should just bring ourselves. Her exact words. But I think flowers would be nice." Sharon nodded, tilting her head back so she could look at him. "We should do that." She said softly. "It's wonderful that you asked though." Andy smiled placing a little kiss on her nose. "I always ask. And I knew you would offer." Sharon smirked and gently put her hand at his cheek.
