This is my attempt at an alternate ending of FMA Brotherhood with Riza and Roy. (Not the Ed ending) SPOILERS: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! If you don't like spoilers and haven't read the manga or watched the full anime this may not be right for you. It's really short so enjoy!
Oh and I don't own FMA Brotherhood, I'm working on it…
The knife sliced through her skin like scissors through tissue paper. Blood trickled down Riza's neck, staining her clothes and the floor beneath her. Her skin felt as cold as ice and her consciousness was slowly fading away. It felt as if death was eminent for the young woman.
Then, she saw his face. The look of despair and hopelessness was overpowering. It made her sick inside. Her heart was aching with every second that she saw his expression. She couldn't die now, not when he was so desperately holding onto the hope that she might be ok; that she would stand up, pull out her gun, and shoot their captures as if nothing had happened.
Riza grasped onto the small amount of strength left in her body, willing her body to stop bleeding in ample amounts. She tried and tried but felt herself slipping away to the pending darkness that threatened to overcome her. As long as he refused to perform human transmutation, everything would be fine. She pleaded with her eyes for him to refuse the gold-toothed man's offer. From the look of things, it appeared as though Roy understood, hanging his head in shame, refusing to look at his dying lieutenant. She faded in and out of consciousness, grateful that he had understood her plea.
Next thing she knew, she was in his arms as he clutched onto her as if holding onto her would keep her alive. She looked into his dark eyes, so filled with despair, and observed how her blood was now staining his clothes, a constant reminder of how much blood she was losing. She couldn't hold on anymore; the darkness was too overwhelming.
"Roy," she muttered, using her dying strength.
"Riza, shhh," he pleaded, holding her closer, and looking into her amber eyes, "Save your strength, you're going to be ok."
"No, Roy, I don't think I will be," she uttered, sending pain through her body, "I'm sorry."
Then, Riza Hawkeye succumbed to the blackness.
Roy Mustang stood in front of two graves. One read Brigadier General Maes Hughes. Roy set a bouquet of flowers on the grave, along with a picture of a now older Elicia. "You'd be proud, Maes," Roy said, "She looks so much like her mother, and she's smart, just like you."
The second grave read First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye. "Damn it," Roy said, suddenly angry, "You both said you would work below me and push me to the top. What will I do without you? Who will watch my back? You just had to get yourselves killed."
He turned away and began walking back to his car, not before setting a single rose on the grave of Riza Hawkeye and saying softly, "I love you." He turned back, looking at the grave of his best friend and beloved Lt. "I wish you could see it," he said, tears flooding his eyes, "It's raining."
With that, Roy Mustang returned to his car and drove away while, from above, Riza Hawkeye and Maes Hughes stood, watching Roy with tears in their eyes.
*AN*
This is my attempt at fluff mixed with blood and depressing stuff/ an alternate ending. I hope I succeeded. I got this idea sort of from both hanging out with my weird friends and from thecatchinglightalchemist's story "Offerings" where she kills off Riza. (Good story, you should go check it out) Hope you don't hate me for kind of playing off your idea. I wrote it at our sleepover! XP Oh and fluffy-chan, if you comment saying "ew it's so fluffy, I'm gonna barf," I will kick you. (I'm allowed to threaten her. She's my friend. Plus, this is a Death Note reference so all shall be forgiven.)
Reviews make me happy… (keep that in mind)
