Author's Note: I got the weirdest desire to write this the other day. o.O I'm not usually a fluff person in this fandom. Anyway, enjoy!~

Music = *heart*
Dib snuck up behind Zim. His steps were muffled and he grinned. He was ecstatic that he finally caught the alien off-guard. He held his weapon in his hands as he crept closer. He was so lucky that he had caught the alien the other day. What he saw changed what he knew about Irkens, about aliens, and about Zim.
Zim was sitting under a tree, dappled sunlight falling through the leaves. He was alone in the schoolyard. He always sat alone at lunch. Dib figured it was because he was busy plotting something evil. Since he always ate with Gaz, Dib never got a chance to see what Zim did at lunch. But today he did. Gaz was sick and his brotherly devotion was broken for a chance at his nemesis.
Dib peeked around the corner of the building, spotting the alien from a distance. He pulled out his binoculars. What he saw surprised him. Zim wasn't fiddling with strange machinery or fixing GIR or even communicating with his leaders. No, today Zim held his hands close to his antennae and, with a closer look, Dib realized it was because he held a pair of headphones to his skull.
The human observed as the alien sat, eyes closed, and breathed deeply. If Dib didn't know better, he would have guessed Zim was asleep. He took the chance to creep closer, hoping his enemy couldn't hear him over whatever he was listening to. He was right behind the alien before he realized that Zim hadn't reacted at all. Maybe he couldn't sense Dib with the music over his antennae…
Then it hit him. What if Zim wasn't listening to music? What if he was hearing secret broadcasts from his planet, or instructions from his leaders? Dib couldn't pass this up. Before Zim could react he grabbed the headphones and the mp3 player they were attached to. He ran, furious Zim trailing behind.
He lost the alien by the time he reached his house and he sat in the dark of his room, observing his prize. He turned the headphones over and over, searching for anything dangerous, or secret, or alien. When he found nothing, he turned on the mp3 player. He looked through the 'songs' expecting to find a recording of Zim's leaders. Instead, all he found was music. But maybe they were disguised…Dib put on the headphones gingerly and pressed the 'play' button.
What came from the speakers was not alien language, or transmissions from the Tallest. No, what Dib heard was a very common song. It had a lot of bass, a lot of upbeat notes, with a creepy undertone. It was something he actually enjoyed. He listened to the whole song before he realized that this wasn't a plot to destroy Earth. Zim, and possibly all Irkens, enjoyed music. He smiled and put the headphones in his backpack.
Now Dib held the headphones. If his hypothesis was correct then the vibrations from the bass soothed Zim. He chuckled internally. Music to soothe the savage beast. Though right now, while he sat under the same tree, eyes closed and head bowed, Zim didn't look savage. If anything, he looked sad. Dib felt his stomach turn as he crept up to Zim. He could only hope that the alien wouldn't notice his approach. Three more steps…two…one…
Dib was directly in front of the clueless Zim. He smiled before pouncing. He knew he could capture Zim like this. He put the headphones on Zim with the mp3 on. Then Dib did something completely on impulse.
He kissed Zim.
"Gotcha."
