Gale, Katniss and Primrose followed Mr Everdeen round the house, where he continued walking out and away.

"Um, Mr Everdeen, where are we going?"Gale asked, very confused as to why he was taking us so far into the woods.

"Gale, call me James, Mr Everdeen makes me sound old. Which I am, so don't remind me." Mr Everdeen said, not turning round or stopping from his fast pace.

"Ahh, here we are." he said, promptly sitting down on the grass. The other three sat around him and looked around. They were in a beautiful field full of all different kinds of flowers.

"Now children, I want you to find the flowers your mother would love best and pick them. She loves colours so she would love a beautiful bouquet." James said, leaning back on his shoulders while Gale and Primrose set off to work.

"Dad? How are you alive?" Katniss asked bluntly. James sighed.

"Right to the point I see. Well, that day I was walking out the house to work when I realised we had no food at home. So, being the lovely father I am decided to go and hunt some. I didn't go too far in as I had to hurry so I could get to work. So I set up a few snares and wandered off with my bow." He said. Katniss knew this though, as she saw the snares the day after he 'died', all with rabbits in.

"Soon I was sitting in a tree waiting for a deer or something to shoot. A bear wandered into my view and I thought 'Wow, this is my lucky day, this will feed us for weeks.' and jumped down from my spot to shoot it. I shot it right in the back of the head and it swiftly fell over. So I ran towards it to retrieve my arrow and my prize, knife out to cut it. But I was so focused on the bear I didn't notice another behind me. It seems that I had shot a growing cub and the mother wasn't pleased. She managed to knock me over and I crawled into a large fox nest to hide. I was losing blood very quickly and couldn't move my leg. That was when I passed out from blood loss and I don't really remember anything else." James said. He sighed and laid down.

"I found out about the work explosion and knew if I came back they would kill me, so I stayed in the woods until the right time." Katniss was shocked. She thought he was dead. She soon realised she was crying. She quickly wiped away the tears when Gale and Primrose came back. Prim was too happy to notice but Gale did, sending her a worried glance. She replied with a glance that said 'never mind' and they all got up.

"So are you coming home Dad? Without you Mother doesn't eat, sleep or anything. Just sits in her chair staring out the window. She needs you, and what better a day to bring you back then her birthday?" James with her big doe eyes. He sighed.

"How can I resist that?" he said and they began the journey back, James holding a giant bouquet of flowers for his beloved.

"Mum, I'm home. Prim followed me into the woods again." Katniss shouted from the doorway, Prim under one arm, Gale the other and James next to them, the bouquet in hand.

"What did I tell you last time Prim? You could have been seriously..." Their mother said, stopping mid sentence when she saw James.

"James?" she said, in shock. He nodded and she immediately ran towards him, wrapping her thin frame around him.

"I've missed you so much my love. But I'm here now and promise to never leave again." he murmured into her dress, smelling the sweet scent of daffodils and willow that he will never get enough of. They all went into the front room, knowing everything from then on would be alright.

Or will it?
