A few days passed uneventfully, and life as the gang knew it returned to mostly normal. Well, Tifa was running around crazed planning a wedding, and Yuffie and Vincent weren't talking at all, but other than that it was normal. Work, play, argue, eat, sleep. Ah, life was good.

"Yuffie, would you like to go to the gown boutique with me?" Tifa asked poking her head in Yuffie's door. Yuffie was laying on her futon flipping through a fashion magazine absently. She really hadn't been acting normally lately, but Tifa suspected that was simply because of the girls spat with Vincent. "Naw, I'm good." Tifa almost got a sad look on her face, but caught it in the nick of time. "I was hoping you would be willing to go with today because I want your opinion on something. I mean... you have such a plain and simple view on a lot of stuff... I was hoping we could talk." Yuffie looked up at hearing this. "About?" Tifa looked absently over her shoulder and then stepped into the room, silently sliding the door closed behind her. Yuffie closed her mag and watched Tifa sharply, "I want to know your opinion on me and Cloud's relationship. But I don't want to talk about it here... I feel I'd blow up." Yuffie sighed and got up. "In that case, I suppose I'll go." Tifa's smile bloomed into full bud almost instantly. "Awesome!"

An hour later found Yuffie and Tifa sitting in a cafe` sipping tea and chatting about how lovely Tifa's dress would be when it was done. "So, what exactly is it you wanted to talk about?" Yuffie asked after a moment of silence. "Oh. Right... Ok. I want to know if you think Cloud will be faithful to me." A shocked look came over Yuffie's face. "You mean... Uhm, if he would cheat with Sephiroth?" Tifa nodded. "You've got to be kidding me." Tifa shook her head slowly, deliberately, two shakes. "Okay... Well, honestly, I don't know." She paused, and the silence seemed to last longer than it actually did. "I don't think he would cheat to hurt you. Or even really on purpose. But I do think he loves Seph. Why, I'm not sure... But in some weird as hell way... I think he does. But I don't think that would be enough for him to cheat. Wait... are we talking physically, or in some other way?" Tifa looked like she was deep in thought, but answered almost instantly. "Physically. Then we'll talk emotionally." Yuffie nodded, "I don't think he would cheat physically, but possibly emotionally. But he has done crazier shit. So where he may not actually go have sex with Sephiroth, I seriously doubt you'll ever have all his heart." Tifa took another drink of her tea, gazing into the space somewhere above Yuffie's left shoulder. "That's kinda what I figured." She sighed.

Back at the house...

Cid was in his shop as usual when there came a knock at the door. "Yeah?" He asked looking up from his modifications on an old ignition switch. "Cid, it's Vincent. May I come in?" Cid had started wiping his hands on an already filthy rag. "Yeah, why not." Vincent entered the shop as quietly as a mouse. "What's up man?" Cid was staring at him waiting for whatever the reason for this interruption was. "I need to ask you something." Cid threw the rag on the work table next to him. "Duh, why the hell else would you be here? So, spill it dude." "Should I... I mean, would it be wrong of me to... well, you see..." Cid sighed annoyed and exasperated. "Should you suck it up and ask Yuffie out?" Vincent swallowed past a lump in his throat. "Yes." "Gah! Dude, you're an idiot! Of course you should. Dude, look at it this way, you're a fucking geezer, yet you don't look more then 19, and you don't show any other sign of your age. You're some fucking mutant." Vincent looked almost hurt, but he was listening to Cid intently. "Your age difference isn't going to get in the way. Okay, I seriously fucking doubt it will anyway." Cid looked up to watch Vincent's reaction. "So yeah, if you can deal with her immaturity, ask her kooky ass out!" Vincent nodded then walked out of the shop as silently as he'd entered.

Back to Tifa and Yuffie...

They were on their third cup of tea each when Yuffie looked up and directly into Tifa's eyes. "Say Tifa, do you think me liking Vincent is completely ridiculous?" Tifa almost choked on her tea, but managed to save it and cleared her throat. "No, why would I?" Yuffie shook her head. "I don't know. I honestly kinda think it is myself... But I don't know any more." Tifa stared at Yuffie with a loving open understanding in her eyes, "I understand." Yuffie was looking at the small round table listening to Tifa, "When I first realized that I was in love with Cloud, I thought I was being ridiculous and crazy. But I guess I got over it. I kinda figured that if I didn't at least try it out, then I might miss out." She shrugged. Yuffie looked up at Tifa, there were almost tears in her eyes. "I suppose that makes sense..." Tifa smiled. "You should ask Vincent out. I know he likes you. I mean... I kinda think he's in love with you. But that's just what I think." Now it was Yuffie's turn to shrug. "I guess."

The two went home shortly after that. There hadn't been much to do that day. So it was only about one in the afternoon. The house was abnormally quiet when the two women entered. "Hm, Cid must have gone out for parts or something. I don't hear him screwing around in his shop." Tifa was setting her bag on the couch and taking off her coat while she answered, "Your probably right... but other people live here ya know." She gave Yuffie a cock eyed smile, and Yuffie laughed at her. "Yeah, but he's certainly the loudest." "Agreed." The two women had just started to giggle because of their perfect understanding of each other's thoughts when Vincent came around the corner. Yuffie just barely caught the surprised 'oh' as it formed at his mouth before he stopped if from rolling off his tongue. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt." He turned to go. Tifa obviously catching something that Yuffie had missed, nudged the girl in her side to encourage her. Yuffie- being Yuffie- didn't get it and turned to her to ask why she'd done that, but Tifa quieted her with the look on her face and made an exaggerated roll of her eyes towards where Vincent had just disappeared. Again a look of pure understanding came across Yuffies face, "Gotcha." She mouthed and turned to follow Vincent down the hall.

Vincent had just turned down the stairs and was on the second step when Yuffie caught up with him. She didn't know what to say so she knocked on the door jam. He turned, and again almost let the surprised 'oh' escape his lips. To herself Yuffie wondered why he was so out of it. He should have heard her coming... "Can I help you?" Yuffie was pulled out of her thoughts and cleared her throat to cover for her momentary silence. "I- I was hoping we could talk." Vincent just gave a curt nod and started down the stairs again. However after a couple of steps he turned back to see Yuffie still standing at the top. "Wouldn't you like to come down?" This time, she just shook her head to clear her jumbled brain... wait, "Yes, yes. Sorry. I got lost in thought for a minute there." This time she started down the stairs after him. When they got to the bottom, Yuffie realized she'd never been in Vincent's room, and began looking around soberly. Right at the bottom of the stair case there stood a wall. A sharp right, and one more step down, and you were in the basement. This part of the basement though, she quickly ascertained, was only storage. The Thief in her mussed over what was worth stealing in the room before she continued to follow Vincent towards the back of the house. At what she assumed was probably about half way point of the house was a wall and a door. Vincent opened the door for her and let her precede him in. She took only a few steps in before stopping to look around. The room was decorated in black, red, and silver. 'Big surprise'. She thought sarcastically. But it looked comfortable. She started her sweep at the left- There was a couch- that she guessed would comfortably sit the whole crew- sitting with its back facing the room. With a reading lamp at both ends, a coffee table set in front of it, and in front of that a book shelf against the wall. Then in the far back corner on the same wall there was another door. Yuffie guessed this was like a closet. She kept scanning- There was a bed side table with a lamp and a single book. Then the bed... It must be a king size. With all black and red silk linens. And wow was it gorgeous, four post bed with a canopy of draped black silk. Yuffie thought it was a bit of a shame to have such a large bed all to one's self. Must get lonely... She kept going on her scan. In the corner exactly opposite where the other door had been there was another. She had a moment of wondering if he had a private bathroom, before her scan continued. Then there was an armoire. And then a desk. All the furniture was the same dark wood. She suspected a darkly stained cherry... And all these observations took only a few swift moments. When she looked back to Vincent he inclined his head to the couch and made a sweeping hand gesture, "Would you like to sit?" She nodded, "Sure, thanks." She replied before walking over towards the couch. She walked around and sat at the far end. She wasn't really sure how to start so she decided to make herself comfortable. Slipping off her shoes she turned so her back was to the arm rest and pulled her knees up to her chest. "Pretty couch." She said examining it closer. It was sort of a smooth black velvet with silver running through it. "Thank you." He said as he sat down a few feet from her. "You don't have to sit practically at the other end of the couch. I'm not going to bite you." 'unless you want me to...' she added in her head. He looked at her oddly then turned to face her, bringing one knee up to rest on the couch and letting his right arm rest across the back. "No, I do not suspect you would." He cleared his throat looking away momentarily. "So Yuffie," he looked back to her, "there was something you wanted to talk about." She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Yeah..." She was trying to center herself, but this honestly ended up a nerve racking action instead of calming. Mentally she cursed and started going through all the ways to start this conversation. After a moment of frustration she recalled something Tifa had told her on their way to the dress shop ealier- "You're so smart, and you have an uncanny skill to simply everything. Everyone relies on that. You make confusing, uncomfortable situations manageable." Right... Manageable. "Right. I want to try us out." Yes! She inwardly congratulated herself at being so straight forward and decisive. Vincent didn't answer for a moment. He just looked at her intently. Like he was trying to see her thoughts play across her mind's eye. "I'm not sure I understand." She stared at him and groaned inwardly. "I think you do. I want to try a relationship between us. I don't care if you think you're too old for me." He nodded once at her to show understanding, "And I get no say in this?" She nodded confirmation. "None what-so-ever." He looked at the floor then. But it was neither a forlorn nor crestfallen look. It was a look of admiration. And there was a soft smile playing at his lips. Yuffie guessed he was lost in his own thoughts, because when he looked up to find her kneeling right beside him he almost jumped out of his skin. She giggled, "Sorry, didn't think I'd startle you that bad." He chuckled a little in response. "More like pleasantly surprise." She smiled warmly at him. And they fell into silence...

After a few moments of neither of them speaking that seemed to go on for hours. She leaned forward and barely brushed her lips against his. At first he didn't kiss back. And she thought she'd fucked it up already, but he slowly brought his hand from where it rest on the back of the couch, to rest on her jaw, cupping her face. He smiled against her lips then pulled away just an inch or two. "I've always wanted to tell you- you smell wonderful." He leaned back in gently claiming her lips, making the kiss slow and passionate. After a moment, Yuffie leaned away to breath. The kiss had been wonderful, though shallow, and left her almost panting. She was now in a position, still on her knees, though leaning into him, with her left hand on his thigh, and her right on his shoulder for support. She was still smiling when the first tear rolled down her cheek. Vincent- having been staring at her intently- noticed and gently wiped it away with his thumb. "What errors, my dear?" She smiled almost choking on her words. "Nothing. -hic- I'm just -hic- so happy!" His smile returned and he pulled her against him, embracing her as a means of calming her emotional bubbling over. Her face was buried in the crook of his neck when she muttered against his skin, "Can we just cuddle for a while?" "Of course." In a swoosh she was up in his arms, and he was walking...

Towards the bed.

"Ohmygosh. What are you doing?" He stopped mid step and looked at her. Shaking his head a little he put his foot down and stood more comfortably still holding her in his arms. "I'm moving us to the bed. The couch is to shallow and not good for cuddling. Do not worry, I will do nothing to compromise your morals." She looked like she thought about it a moment then somberly nodded in consent. Silently Vincent was mussing to himself about how he had thought she would be jumping into his bed at first chance. She's always been a very physical creature. Casual touching was just her thing. And he had assumed that it extended to... well... this. Meanwhile Yuffie was wondering what the hell was wrong with her. Belittling herself for reacting like that. She frantically tried to think of a way to take it back without looking even more foolish. Then, she had a bright idea. "Uh, Vincy, sorry about my little over reaction just a moment ago." He was laying her on the bed. "I think it's just... everything. I was really scared you would be upset about this whole thing..." He was taking off the black sweater he was wearing to reveal a black tank that was skin tight. "And then the kiss, and you picking me up. I think it just got to me for a sec." He crawled up on the bed next to her. Now her eyes were locked on him as he moved to lie next to her but at the last moment leaned over her, propped himself on one arm, and stared down at her. His raven hair falling around his face- framing its pale beauty in a way that made Yuffies breath catch. He chuckled at her dazed stare. "And here I thought you were just shy." She snapped out of it enough to realize he was teasing her and gave him her best glare... though, it's hard to glare when you're trying sooo hard not to grin like a fool. He tsked at her once, "Now now. Pouting is strictly forbidden in my bed." He made it deep and slightly seductive, a harsh whisper almost. She quirked a (in his opinion) perfectly arched eyebrow at him. "Then what do you do down here all day?" She made it light and teasing. And he knew it was rhetorical, so he leaned down, their faces mere inches apart. Feeling each other's warm breath caress their lips. Yuffie playfully draped her arms over his shoulder and smiled only a little coyly at him. He chuckled and shook his head. "You are a piece of work, Loopy." She giggled at the pet name and moved her hand up to fist in the hair at the nape of his neck. He apparently liked this a lot because he shuddered under the touch. Grinning she pulled him down for a kiss.

Chapter end.

Author note: sorry for the super short chapter. This spot just seemed a good place to stop.

I know it is weird that I hadn't posted it so long and then… POOF! Here's a new chapter!

I don't know if I am going to continue with this, or write one more chapter to wrap it all up, I guess I will leave it up to whoever cares enough to review and ask. This chapter was written way back when the fic was originally posted, but I never uploaded it for some reason… *shrugs* Hope it was enjoyable.
