I know, I know, I haven't updated in like forever. (I haven't done a lot of things in forever) But with 2013 in the past, it time for BDragonXO to upgrade! So 2014 is going to be different, I talking more stories, quicker updates and above all great quality work (or sub-par work, whichever comes first!) But whatever.
Anyway, on with the story!
Chapter 2:
NorthPole
It was two weeks before Christmas and Santa's workshop was in full swing. The elves were... well, doing whatever it is that the elves do while the yeti's where busy making sure that everything was perfectly prepared for Santa's departure. And the jolly giant himself could not be anymore calm then he always was.
"This is all wrong!" a voice yells and the entire workshop shakes
Or maybe not
North's POV
All eyes were on the "not" so jolly Saint Nick.
North narrowed his eyebrows and wiped his hand across his face in frustration. He walked across the room and looked over the colorfully painted toys and grunted.
"Do you see this" he asked in a quiet voice and picked up one of the boxing robots
The yetis mumbled among themselves and shrugged
"This!" he yelled shaking the robot in his fist "Is not the shade of red I wanted! They are supposed to be Dorothy red, these don't want me to skip down anything!" he shrieked "And the planes should have already been packaged and!" North stopped and looked at the stack of dolls and silently counted them to himself "And why is their one doll missing!" he yelled
A small jingle could be heard from the back corner of the room and all eyes turned to see one of the elves kissing said doll. The elf stop what it was doing and looked up at a very mad North, the elf frowned and dropped the doll and walked off sulking, North sighed
"Can we please get back to work" he grunted
No one moved
"Now!" he shrieked and everyone scattered
North sighed and ran a hand through his short gray hair "What I'm I going to do with these guys" he mumbled to himself. North wasn't paying attention and didn't see the elf sneak back and quickly grab the doll and run away with it.
North walked back into his office and sat at his desk. He looked over the table and pulled out a stack of papers, North cracked his knuckles and put on his reading glasses, he lifted his glass of eggnog and brought it to his face but cringed when he smelt it but drunk some anyway.
"Now let's see" he said placing his mug back on the table
"Suzy Newman.. Nice"
"Duncan Blackwell… Nice"
"Pippa Mattingly… Nice"
"Spike Mattson… ohhh, you've been one naughty boy this year" North chuckled and continued to go down the list
"Let's see, Jamie and Sophie Bennett" North smiled and made a mark near their names before taking another sip of his eggnog. North placed the cup down and continued with the list.
*Crack*
North looked up and saw nothing and shrugged it off
*Crack*
North stood up and placed his hands on the desk before looking all around his office.
*Drip*
North looked at his eggnog and saw that it started to ripple. North looked up at the ceiling and saw nothing. The eggnog continued to ripple and North proceeded to move the cup and when he did he felt something hit his hand.
"What the" North touched the wet spot on his hand "Water?" he thought and looked back up at the ceiling. More water droplets started to fall and landed on the papers on his desk. North quickly moved the papers off of his desk; the droplets continued to fall and then formed a single stream. North grabbed the nearest broom near him and plugged the leak. The water stopped falling.
North smiled and dusted his hands "That should do it"
Suddenly another hole appeared and more water quickly poured in. North quickly grabbed the broom and plugged the other hole but making the pervious one start leaking again. He grabbed one of his canes and plugged the other hole. The leaks stopped and North sighed but suddenly three more holes appeared and started leaking, North gasped and pushed the door's open to his workshop.
"Hey! We have a situation, bring me some…" North didn't get a chance to finish because he gaped at the scene in front of him "Sweet jingle bells" he gasped
His entire workshop was covered in water and it continued to pour out of the holes that plagued every wall. The yetis were desperately trying to stop the leaks and prevent the toys from getting ruined. Half of the elves ran back and forth in terror while the other half were swimming in pools of the water and seemed to be enjoying themselves. North ran up to one of the yetis
"What's going on" he screamed
The yeti gibbered something and used various hand movements to try and explain what happed
"What do you mean it just started, nothing just…?" North was cut short when the entire workshop started to shake. Toys fell off shelves and everything started to topple over. North grabbed the nearest rail to him and started barking order "Protect the toys!"
The yetis grabbed the nearest toys to them and piled them in their arms. North struggled to get to the globe but when he finally reached it he pushed a couple of buttons and the globe slowly slid down and retracted into the building.
"Good, the globe is safe" he thought
North staggered over to the window and looked outside, he didn't see anything and turned back to his wet work shop. The shaking subsided and the water slowed down to where only a few droplets would fall. North sighed at the mess
"Ok" North started "Lets dry up this place and continue working" North took a step forwarded and quickly regretted it when the workshop started to tremble again but this time it was different. North slowly turned around and saw a pile of white snow slowly fall down the mountain and increased in size and speed as it continued to fall.
North quickly turned around "Quickly, put up the shields" he yelled
One of the elves saluted and climbed on top of the control panel and commenced pushing a button, but instead of shields being open music started to play:
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
North faced palmed himself "The other button!" he yelled. Another elf climbed onto the table and pushed the other one off, it pushed the button and nothing happened. It pushed it again and still nothing happened.
"Hurry!" North urged
The other elf jumped back on the table and glared at the one that pushed it off. Both elves continued to furiously push the button and when it didn't work started to blame each other. They started pushing each other and then the one elf tackled the other and they both rolled across the floor fighting with their bells jingling.
"If you two don't stop!" he threatened
Soon the avalanche got closer and casted a shadow over the workshop
North looked up and gasped "this is not good" he muttered. The white blanket covered the workshop and snow filled every room and soon the workshop was buried.
Bunny's Warren
Luscious green moss covered every landscape of the warren and spring colored flowers bloomed around every corner. A thumping sound and a gray blur quickly zips past the flowers. It continues to hop at a fast pace around the lake and rocks before standing on a tall hill overlooking the entire area.
A tall pooka rabbit breathes in some air and grins
"I love the smell of Easter in the morning" he sighs
Bunny POV
Bunny hops down from the hill and scurries over to a field of brightly colored flowers. He thumps his foot on the ground.
"Alright, up and at em"
He brings his paw up to his mouth and whistles loudly; all of the flowers open up and a bunch of white eggs jump out and walked over to Bunny.
"Alright troops, it's time to get coated, so move out!" Bunny took out his boomerang and threw it toward a bunch of vines knocking them down and making a path for the eggs. The boomerang flew back and Bunny caught it with ease. The eggs marched in a single line through a bundle of flowers was covered in powder and came out colored. Some of the eggs slid down the vines though bush and received a striped pattern on their shells. Other dived into the brightly colored lake and received a glittery coat
Bunny smiled but noticed something rustling in the bushes next to him. He took out his boomerangs and prepared to strike. The rustling continued to move and Bunny was on hot on its trail. After chasing it for a couple of more minutes Bunny stepped in front of it.
"Nowhere to hide now mate" he sneered
The resulting stopped and out popped a clear egg. Bunny dropped his weapons and chuckled
"What are you doing by yourself" he picked the egg up and cradled it in his paws.
"Let's get you back you little rascal" Bunny hopped the rest of the way back and made sure not to bounce too much so that the egg wouldn't fall. When they were half the way there Bunny stopped, he sniffed the air
"Something's not right" he muttered
The pitter-patter of little egg feet could no longer be heard and everything just seemed to be too quiet. Bunny hopped a couple of more feet when a gust of wind rushed past him, Bunny shivered as the air passed through his fur.
Bunny's eyes snapped open and looked down at the little egg in his paws "Hang on"; Bunny quickened his pace, he rushed to the top hill. When Bunny reached the top he gaped at what he saw.
"What in the Blazes!" he shrieked
The entire warren was covered in solid ice. The lakes were frozen over and some of the eggs were frozen in midair. The stone egg guardians were frozen in place and it seems like some of the eggs were trying to run away but didn't make it in time.
Bunny looked on in frustration and tried to say something but couldn't conjure up the words; something then hit Bunny and he squinted his eyes in fury
"I bet that this is that frost brats doing, oh when I find him he'll be sorry!" Bunny tapped his foot on the ground and a sink hole appeared, Bunny jumped in the hold and when he did it disappeared.
Tooth's Palace
Little Tooth fairies fluttered about as they dropped the newly acquired teeth in the designated spots. More and more fairies continued to fly back and forth in a rhythm, some would drop the teeth and other would pick up the quarters and fly them out for the children's presents.
Toothiana or just Tooth stood in the center of the palace and continued to go over the newly acquired teeth.
"Ohhh, look at this one!" she exclaimed
Tooth's POV
"This has to be one of the perfectly kept bicuspid I've ever seen" Tooth gushed
Tooth always had a thing about people keeping their teeth in the best conditions and was overjoyed when people at such a young age did exactly that. She placed the tooth in its container and gave it to one of her fairies. Tooth flew around to the top platform and overlooked all of her work. She grinned at the amount of progress that they were making. Working every night was not an easy task but Tooth's thoroughly enjoyed her job.
A sudden breeze flew over the palace and Tooth stretched her arms out and breathed in heavily
"Today is such a nice day" she thought
More and more fairies continued to fly in with new teeth and suddenly the breeze rushed forwards with more intensity making the fairies shudder and some of the cages rattle. Tooth braced herself from the sudden wave of air
"Whew, talk about your windy days" she thought while hugging her body
Tooth started to fly back down to her main work platform when another strong breeze suddenly rushed forward making everything in the palace shake and clang.
"Whoaaa!" Tooth shrieked and grabbed onto the nearest cage bar for support. The wind increased in speed and size, pushing everything in the opposite direction. Tooth could barely hang on the bar when the fairies where sent hurling backwards, dropping all of the collected teeth in the process. The teeth continued to hurl to the ground in a free-fall.
"Hurry!" Tooth shrieked "Catch the teeth!"
The nearest fairies quickly hurled themselves at the falling objects and managed to catch them all safely
Tooth let out a sigh
Another strong wave rushed forward and all of the fairies huddled together to protect the teeth. Tooth continued to hold onto the bar with everything she had but could feel herself sleeping.
"Hold on!" she encouraged herself "Just…Hold…On, huh!"
Even with all of her might, Tooth was unable to hold onto the bar for another minute and was sent hurling toward the mountain wall at a fast pace
"Ahhhh!" she screamed
The wind continued to push Tooth until it started to die down. Tooth to fight against the current until she was able to extend her wings and straighten herself out just nearly missing an upcoming stalactite.
Tooth flew back to her platform where she was bombarded by tiny frantic little fairies
"I know" she shushed them "I know"
The fairies started to settle down when another one of them muttered something to her
"I don't know" she replied franticly, Tooth looked off into the sky "But it can't be good" she muttered
Burgess
The little town was considered to be many things. Small, mystical, and the home to a certain frosty winter spirit. Every holiday send the small town into a frenzy but none more than Christmas, and with it being only two weeks away people tried to complete all of their holiday shopping before the rush started and parents trying to hide gifts from their (to curious for their own good) children, while the children themselves tried to be on their best behavior and make up from their past "Bad Deeds"
On the other side of Burgess, a young Jamie Bennet was pacing his bedroom floor while having a conversation with his frozen friend.
"And I need to see if he can forget about the whole "indoor mud slide" thing and…" Jamie looked out the frost frozen window and sighed "Jack, are you even listening?" he asked the air. The winter spirits looked from his seat on the window sill and looked at the troubled boy and chuckled
"Yeah, sure mud slide, got it" he replied
"Jack!" Jamie groaned "This is serious"
Jack sighed and turned his body to the little boy "Ok, I'm listening"
Jack POV
"How did I get dragged into this" Jack muttered to himself while shaking his head
He went from playing with the kids to getting dragged to Jamie's bedroom where he had an explicit list of things that he had done wrong that year and to see if he could "persuade" Santa Claus to look the other way.
"Ok" Jamie continued "There was also the incident where I put the bugs into Pippa's hat and blamed it on Cupcake who in return punched me so that really shouldn't count, so…" Jamie looked at only to see his staring off into space again
"Jack!" Jamie shrieked
Jack head snapped back "Yeah sure, bugs" he replied
Jamie groaned and crossed his arms "If you don't want to help me then fine, you can leave" he replied sulking
"Hey, Hey don't be like that" Jack hopped up from his seat and placed a hand on Jamie's shoulder
Jamie shrugged his hand off "Then why don't you help me" he said sulkingly
Jack ran a hand thought his white hair and leaned on his staff "Look Jamie, it's just that…" Jack paused and thought before he spoke "You've helped me and the other Guardians defeat a psychopathic shadow lord, so… that's like a get out of trouble free card" Jack grinned
Jamie eyes shot up "Really! Are you sure?" he asked giving Jack a questionable look
Jack patted Jamie on the head "Of course, I am a Guardian after all"
"Oh boy!" Jamie tossed the list to the side of the room and started jumping up and down on the bed
Jack chuckled at the little boy antics
"Jaime!" His mom shrieked busting into the room
Both Jack and Jamie froze and stared at his mother
She scanned the room before laying her eyes on her son
"Jamie, what are you doing and who are you talking to?" she asked
"Uhh" Jamie eyed Jack who only gave a puzzled look and shrugged
"Jack Frost" he gave his answer like a question
She rolled her eyes and giggled "Fine" she walked over to the window and walked right though Jack who only stepped to the side. She opened the window and shivered when the cold air rushed in.
She turned back to Jamie "Make sure "Jack Frost" goes home" she said walking over to his bed "But it's your bedtime"
Jamie groaned "But mom, I'm not ti…." Jamie gave a big yawn and rubbed his eyes "tired"
Jack chuckled walked over to the window and jumped onto the edge
"Alright, in the bed you go" tucked Jamie in his bed and walked over to the door "Goodnight, Jamie"
"Night, mom" Jamie yawned again and snuggled deeper into his bed
She smiled and tuned the light off before closing the door Jamie looked over at Jack and gave a sleepy smile
"Night, Jack" Jamie said drifting off into sleep
"Night, kiddo" Jack said before climbing out the window and swinging on to the roof before using his staff to close the window. As Jack scaled the rooftop, he unconsciously looked up at the moon; he hadn't realized that he had done that in so long. Jack sat on the roof and continued to get lost in thought, he didn't want to worry Jamie with all of his problems but the same time could not forget them himself.
"Being a Guardian is fun and all, but…" Jack thought aloud "I keep getting this feeling like I'm not doing something right" Jack stared back up at the moon "A little advice would be helpful" he said to moon
"And… nothing, as usual" Jack sighed "Everyone else is so busy doing their own thing that" Jack grunted in frustration and ran a hand through his white hair "That it seems like I'm some kind of babysitter, not that I'm complaining" Jack chuckled "I mean, who wants to handle smelly eggs or wrapped packages for a living, and don't even get me started on Tooth's job" Jack smiled at the thought of the Tooth Fairy.
"The only person that I can actually see enjoying their job is Sandman; now that's a job I can get under" Jack waved his shepherd staff and a breeze swept over him sending him soaring into the sky. As Jack flew he noticed the familiar gleam of golden sand and descended on the nearest rooftop. Jack watched as the golden stream of sand entered each house and smiled at the sight.
Suddenly a large shatter rang throughout the city. Jack looked at the sky and saw dark clouds starting to form. As the clouds started to form droplets of water started to pelt the ground. A droplet fell and landed on Jack's hand causing him to shudder from the contact.
"What the..." Jack gaped as he touched the wet spot
The clouds continued to cluster together and the water droplets continued to rapidly fall to the earth. Jack had only been caught in a rainstorm a handful of time but something about this one was different. A sudden bright flash lit up the dark sky.
CRACK!
Jack flinched as the loud roar pierced the night sky of Burgess. The rain continued to pour down; Jack pulled his hood over his head and scaled rooftop to rooftop looking for some cover. Jack jumped off the nearest house and saw a tall tree in the distance.
"Better than nothing" Jack thought as he quickly scaled down under house and under the tree. As the rain continued to fall the only sound that could be heard was Jack's shallow breathing. His chest heaved in and out as cool misty air escaped his body, the tree allowed minimal protection but with Jack already being soaked it didn't really seem to matter. Jack shuttered as his wet hoodie clung to his frozen body; already lost in thought, Jack didn't seem to notice the little figure behind him until it tapped his shoulder
"Ahh!" Jack shrieked and jumped pointing his staff at the assailant only to see the Sandman putting his hands up defensively.
"Oh, it's just you, Sandy" Jack sighed and pulled his weapon down before leaning against the tree. The Sandman gave Jack a cornered look.
"I'm ok" Jack sighed "I'm just not really "fond" of thunderstorms; what about you?"
Sandman replied by shrugging his shoulders and shaking his head
"I don't really know what you said but I'm guessing sand and water don't mix to well" Jack chuckled and Sandman frowned
Sandman floated up to Jack's level and made an arrow appear over his head pointing to the night sky
"What?" Jack looked up and was shocked by what he saw
All of the Sandman's dream streams where slowly disintegrating as the water pelted it. They shimmering gold color was soon diluted to a sobbing mass of nothing that crumbled to the ground.
"Does that normally happen?" Jack inquired looking down at the dream spirit
Sandman shook his head and a question mark appeared above his head
"Something is going on here" Jack spoke softly to himself "And it's not good"
Time passed by as the two guardian's continued to take refuge underneath the tree. Another flash lit up the sky and Jack flinched again; Jack gripped his staff closer to his body closed his eyes and groaned, Jack could hear the sound of sand being shifted and when he opened them he saw a sand umbrella hovering over his hand. Jack glanced at Sandman who only grinned at him
"Thanks' Sandy" Jack said smiling "But standing here won't solve the issue of what's going on" Jack continued to stare at the sky as the rain continued to fall, the dark clouds continued covered the moon's light
Sandman pondered for a moment before a light bulb popped over his head. He tugged on Jack's pants leg who looked down at the smaller guardian. Sandman pointed to himself before making bells appear over his head and making them chime a Christmas tune.
"You think we should go see, North?" Jack asked
Sandman nodded his head and pointed again at the bells above his head
"Yeah, that would make the most sense, but…" Jack looked out at the pouring rain "How are we supposed to get their?"
Both guardians stood still for a moment before Sandman grabbed the handle of the sand umbrella and put on a determined face
Jack sighed "I was afraid you were going to suggest that" Jack looked out in front of him and put on a brave face "Okay, let's do this!"
Something's making everything go out of whack, but would could it possibly be?
But anyway,
