Hello, my precious followers! I'm so sorry I haven't updated in 9 years. However, I love you guys because, well, honestly, I gave up on this story a few months back, but you guys keep reviewing and following and all that jazz. I just want to tell you that, while I haven't updated this since prehistoric times, your many reviews have spammed my email enough to finally force me to keep writing. So thank you, my fellow readers! Read, review, hate me for abandoning you, I deserve it. However, I tried to help by making this my longest chapter yet! {Disclaimer which I am usually too lazy to put: I am not Veronica Roth, in case you haven't noticed.}
Tris's POV
Seven minutes later, Chris and Will emerge from the claustrophobic closet, hair ruffled, clothes a mess.
"You guys! What happened? I thought you would come barge in at five minutes, not let us come out long past seven minutes," Christina worries. Funny, if it was me in the closet, I'd just stay in there.
"Jeez, Chris, I thought you might enjoy the extra time, but okay," Will sulks back to his seat.
"Well, no, it's just-"
"Whatever, it's fine. Marlene, truth or dare?"
"Mm...truth?" Marlene answers, obviously unsure of what's to come.
"PANSYCAKE."
"Oh, Uriah, if only someone else caught on to saying that," I tease.
"That would be a sad, sad world," Shauna adds.
"No! Just you wait, someday everyone'll say that, and congratulate me on my great achievement."
"Okay, okay, guys. Anyways, Mar, who, where, and when was your first kiss?" Will asks.
"My mom, in a hospital bed, when I was born," Marlene jokes, to some laughter from around the circle. "No, but really, I refuse." She was smart, and wore a sweatshirt, so she still has on a t-shirt.
"What, is it a big secret or something?" Uri asks. I can't blame him, even I figured it was with him.
"It doesn't matter!" Marlene quickly covers. "Zeke, Candor or-"
"Dauntless!" he shouts, though we could have easily heard him at a less ear-shattering volume.
"I dare you to...enter a drinking contest with Tris!"
This surprises me, for obvious reasons. Why me? I'm with Tobias, and Zeke's with Shauna. But I guess we needed to mix it up a little, anyways. I start to stand, but Tobias grabs my hand. "You don't have to, you know." I give his hand a reassuring squeeze and he releases me. I am a little nervous, though. It's my first time drinking, but I don't want to admit this to them.
"Okay, you ready, Tris?" Zeke asks. He's sitting on a stool at the small island in his kitchen. The bottles are already on the counter, making me nervous.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I know it's a stupid time to think of this, but I hear Tobias's words from initiation echo in my head, be brave, Tris. Oh, I will.
At that, Uri yells, "Let the drinking games begin! May the odds be ever in your favor."
After five or six bottles, my vision grows fuzzy, but I don't let that hold me back. I chug down four more before I stumble across the room to the bathroom, where the toilet water dances as I puke into it. I hear footsteps coming, and see someone's face. It's the last thing I see before my head hits the floor, and I don't even know whose face it was. Some boy with a number for a name. How strange.
-Page Break-
I'm laying down. Why am I laying down? Who knows? Apparently, number boy knows, because he rushes over to me when he sees my eyelids flutter.
"Tris, are you okay?" number boy asks me.
"Youhaveafunnyname," I slur. Why is my voice so weird? It sounds funny. I start giggling, and then laughing hysterically. I roll over, falling off the couch. I was on a couch? Whose couch was I on? Maybe it was number boy's. This makes me laugh even more, and he puts his hand to my forehead. Why was I laughing? This isn't funny. I feel like a child with a fever, but I don't feel like I have a fever. Weird.
"Howcomeyournameisanumber?" I ask, with the silly voice again.
"It's not really Four, that's just my nickname," number boy reminds me. Four, I correct myself.
"Thenwhatisyourrealname, Four?" I try testing out the name. It feels funny on my tongue, and I like the feeling.
Four leans over me, whispering something in my ear. "What?" I try to whisper, but it comes out in the blurry voice again, making me giggle.
"Tobias," he breathes.
"To-" I start, before Four - Tobias - puts a finger to my lips.
"Can we keep playing now?" I look up to see who the complaining person is. I remember her name is Christina.
"You sure I shouldn't just take her home? It's her first time drinking, and it's getting late…" Tobias reasons. Wait, I'm drunk? No wonder why I feel so silly.
"I'm fine," I grunt at him, through gritted teeth. My voice isn't as funny anymore. I frown.
"Yeah, she's just fine, Four. I'm sure Tris doesn't want you to bring her home anyways. Why are you even a couple? You're both total Dauntless snobs because you were ranked so high. But Tris was only ranked high because you were her instructor, and she convinced you to love her so that she could stay in Dauntless. That's how it is, isn't it, Tris?" Tobias has his big hands in fists, about to stand. "Don't feel bad. That's what happened to him too, Tris. Clearly his instructor fell in love with him, too."
I look up at Peter. "You sure?"
"Of course. I mean-"
"Shut up, Peter! Don't listen to him, Tris. He's trying to confuse you, don't-" Tobias is interrupted by this guy. I don't know who he is, but he is hot as hell.
"I think it's my turn, right?" the guy asks. He has the same funny voice as I did. It brings on another wave of giggles.
The room is dead silent until Christina tells him, "Yeah, Zeke, but you sure you should? I mean, you are kind of…" Zeke, that's his name. Zeke and Tris. That sounds really great together, doesn't it? Zeke and Tris, Tris and Zeke.
"Drunk? Yeah, so? I'm fine," Zeke answers in his sexy voice. "Peter, truth or dare?"
"Tru- no, dare."
"I dare you to leave," Zeke says coldly. He sounds even better when he's threatening.
"No way, you aren't getting rid of me that easily!" Peter shouts, yanking off his t-shirt. I did not need to see that. "Tris, truth or dare?"
"Dare?" I'm not sure I should trust Peter, but I don't want to be a pansycake.
"I dare you to play seven minutes in heaven with the sexiest person in the room."
My eyes land on Zeke's, and our stares lock. I walk over to him, and pull him up by the hand.
So, how was it? Sorry if you are disappointed in any of the following: lack of Fourtris, lack of update, lack of knowledge of how people feel and act when they're drunk. Keep reading and reviewing!
