AN: This is my response to the Densi Prompt of January. On Tumblr, there is a blog where you can submit your prompts and get one in turn to write. So enjoy the prompt of "Kensi and Deeks laying out under the stars." ;) {This takes place well after Kensi comes back. The ideal world is that everything is all sunshine and happiness when this happens.}
"Hey, Kens?"
"Mhmm?" Kensi looked up from her reports to find Deeks grinning at her.
"So… wanna get out of here?"
"Isn't it 3 o'clock?"
"Nope! It's already 6! Come on Fern, we're gonna miss the show if you dillydally." Deeks grabbed her laptop bag and stared at her, waiting for her to get up. She sighed, finally giving in. Getting up, she bumped shoulders with him and sauntered out of the building, Deeks following her.
As Kensi reached the car, she realized that her car keys were missing from her pocket. She was about to turn back to the old mission to pick up her forgotten keys when Deeks appeared, jangling the key chain teasingly. She tried to make a grab for it, but he just moved it out of the way.
"Uh uh. It's supposed to be a surprise."
"You already said it was a show. I know how to go to the theater."
"We're not going to the theater."
"Then… where are we gonna…?"
"Again, it's a surprise, Sunshine. I'm driving." Deeks winked before climbing into the drivers seat. Kensi just shook her head and followed.
"Deeks.. what are we doing on the beach?"
"Uh.. I planned for some pizza, beer and a night of star gazing. If that's not what you expected, it's okay and we can…" Deeks started to stutter, but Kensi leaned over and silenced him with a soft kiss.
"It's perfect." She smiled shyly and jumped out of the car. He grabbed the picnic basket with the food and blankets and made his way to her. They set the blanket and quickly finished the medium sized pizza. Just as they finished, the stars started to come out. Deeks gazed into the sky for a while before pointing to a streak that disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
"Hey! Shooting star! Make a wish!" Deeks quickly closed his eyes and muttered something under his breath. Kensi smiled, and repeated his actions. When she opened her eyes, she found Deeks smiling at her.
"So what did you wish for?"
"Hey! If I told you, it wouldn't come true!" She giggled.
"Didn't know you were into making wishes upon stars."
"My dad and I would always stargaze and make a wish when we went camping. He would always get me to tell my wish though." She smiled, reminiscing through old memories. They continued to gaze into the dark night sky and point out different constellations until their eyes started to close. Kensi fell asleep first, her head resting against Deeks's shoulder. He smiled and kissed her forehead, and eventually fell asleep to the gentle crash of the ocean.
