Ice Barrier Chronicles

Chapter: Two Part 1

"Ping! Dai! Wait up!" I shouted but they just wouldn't slow. Dai I understand, but why ping? This would be his first time out would it? The kid don't now what he's getting into. Hell, I don't know what I'm getting into. The farther that we went, the skies turned darker and hid the sun and the flames grew in age. This place deserves the title of true hell. Barren patches of dirt where grass once stood and embers of flame rushing past us as we ran, burning us little by little.

"Wait!" I was gasping for air. It was getting way to hot for me and my lungs felt as if there were going to give out to the point that I couldn't take it. I stopped and leaned over with my arms supporting me by on my legs. Max nudged against my legs and looked up at me whining. He knew that I wasn't okay with this place. Dai turned and saw I wasn't with him. From what I can see, he panicked. He looked around in worry flailing his armed to his head. Ping stopped when Dai did and looked for me as well. The shouted something but the roar of the flames were to much that it muffled what they said. It was most likely my name. The smoke became more and more intense until I couldn't see them. The smoke wrapped its filthy hands around my neck and began to squeeze the life out of me.

"Max... go get help". I wheezed trying to catch air. Max then ran to get the others but when he left, the smoke dissipated with a gust of wind from behind. Air rushed into me and with the first gulp of air I coughed to clear what doesn't belong. The gust of wind knocked me over and cleared a large area of smoke and fire. It was a blessing at the most part. Then out from the distance I saw Max, Dai and Ping rushing to me. Max's grow could be heard from where I was. "Prin! Get out of there!" They shouted. I didn't know what was wrong, it was... A loud roar was heard from behind me. Loud enough for me to have to cover my eyes and ears. It echoed throughout my mind when I collapsed to my knees. The sound vibrations it gave out had made the dirt vibrate and shift from side to side.

When the roar stopped, I turned to find a dragon of black scales and red eyes. Fire flowed from its mouth in wisps as our eyes met. The dragons mouth opened and I was stunned in fear. My body couldn't move. Everything slowed, thoughts rushed in my mind about things that I didn't see and the people that I would leave. When, the dragons teeth was in full view, a barrier was placed around me? The teeth scraped the outside of it and wouldn't pierce it. I searched where it came from and when I saw it, I couldn't believe it. It was Max that produced the barrier and if I didn't know any better, it would look like he winked and grinned. From my line of sight, Dai gripped his sheathed katana.

"Spirits that guide us. Grant me thy power to slay my enemy. UNLEASH THE SEAL"! A burst of power surrounded him in a light blueish aura as he ran. The dragon let go of the barrier and blew and cone of flame at Dai and Ping.

"Let's see if all that training that you gained as a Sacred Guard paid off"! Dai shouted as he ran but Ping stopped in his tracks when Dai jumped towards the flame. What are they thinking? They are going to get fried!

"Gods of our lands, hear my cry. Protect me and those I vow to protect." Ping was preying but the flame over took them. It was over. A flame that big would take down any person no matter how tough. I fell to my knees and began to cry. It was over. We wasn't ready to leave home like dad said. The flame let up but Ping was still there on one knee, clenching the arm that's pointed towards the dragon. In hopes that he was okay, I looked. Dai was face to face with the beast. Somehow, he managed to stab the black dragon in the eye without being burned.

"Don't just stand there! Help me"! Dai said when a roar came from the beast. It was a delayed roar as you can see. The dragon flailed its head and shook Dai off. He hit the ground hard from the sound of his grunt. The dragon set its sights on me and max again and instead of biting again, it blew fire. Two disks appeared in front of us that formed two cups and the flame went into one and out the other to hit the dragon. Six ladies landed in front of us to aid us, all different colors.

"Dusk! Flair! Get them out of here"! The tan one ordered and the yellow one and the red one nodded. The Red one scooped me up and the red scooped Dai. Ping was already at a safe distance away and they took us to him.

"Leave this fight to us and watch how you we deal with him". The red girl flew off. "Sorry if we hurt you in any way when we carried you". Then the yellow one flew off to aid her friends. Who were they and where did they come from? And their staffs were like scythes. I never seen anything like it . Something like this should have been hard for them but they swarmed it and taking it one on one.

"Dusk! Shadow! Give me support"! The tan one ordered once again. She must be the leader. The Yellow girl and the Purple one was chanting what sounds like to be a spell incantation. Streams of light flowed from the both of them onto the Tan girl and then she started to power a spell.

"Gust! Aqua! Provide Cover"! The two of then parted onto opposite ways and then attacked from both sides. The way that they worked together to cover each other was amazing. But where was the red one? A sudden burst of heat can from behind. When I looked it was the Red one. Fire circled her in rings, one for each limb and her jewel at the end of her scythe... staff thing.

"Come on! This is my fifth fight and I'm still watching! Let me in on some action"! The more she shouted the more flames came out of her. To add on to that... wasn't she the one that told us to sit back and watch them take care of it? Then way is she back here with us? As of now, I really didn't care, I always wanted him to rest his head on my lap but I didn't want him hurt when he's doing it. I wanted to see if he was okay so I tried to move his hat from out of his face but before I got to it, he grasped my hand and them spoke.

"Prin, you know the rule about me and my hat. Only I can move or touch my hat". He said as he leaned up. I leaped at him to hug him but I hurt him. It looks like he has a fracture in one of his bones. It made me worried if I made it worst. We should of stayed beck home. This place has nowhere for us to be. If we cant handle this little task, how are we to take up the others that are the real threat? The smoke that was blown away started to creep back. The Green girl looked at the Blue one and nodded. The Green girl flew off in a circle around the field repeatedly.

"It's all you Red! Take out the flames"! The Green girl shouted flying at amazing speed.

"Don't give me orders"! Red shouted back. She risen her staff into the air and mumbled something under her breath closing her eyes then leveled the staff horizontal with both arms. All the flames burning on the field redirected to Red in streams in front of her. Waving her staff in a circle motion, the raging flame became a fireball and it grew in size. If I didn't know better, it looks like she was adding on to it from her own flame.

"HEY, TERRA! DAWN! AQUA! SHADOW! GER OUT OF THE WAY! ITS COMMING IN"! Red shouted and she pointed and the dragon to let the massive fireball go. Her friends moved out of the way but just by a well... a hair is just two slim but then again, two wouldn't make a difference really. The dragon dodged it and came charging to the Red one.

"GOT YA! YOUR PATH ENDS HERE"! She shouted winging her wand back behind her keeping her crimson eyes the heavily black scaled beast. With the motion of the wand, the fireball followed, It made a loop and hit the dragon from behind. It looked like that this attack did something. The others rushed it but the Tan on stayed behind. So the leader makes her followers do all the work, huh? I want to know whats so good about what they do. I never seen magic such as that. It's as if over time, they get stronger. I moved Dai and all three; Max, Ping and Dai held me back. They knew that without them, I cant do anything. I don't have it in me, I need somebody watching my back.

"It's ready, girls. Move out the way!" The Tan one commanded and they all but her scattered. When everyone was cleared, she unleashed a beam that hid the dragon directly. It fell to the ground and they cheered. So in the end, the victory was to them. We had no part in it what so ever but it's good. We all made it out alive. Sure, if not for Max, I could have been dragon chow. Ping helped Dai even when he has little to no power in the attack department. The ladies flew over to us with the Tan one in front and landed.

"Are you hurt in ay way?" The yellow one asked looking at Dai. She must of saw how hard he hit the ground.

"Yes. He..." I was interrupted.

"I'm fine. It's nothing really. All I need Is some rest". He stood using his sheath to balance himself on. He has me worried about him. So stubborn; never asking for help when he clearly needs it; don't blame him. We lost our first fight. That dragon was way to strong for us.

"Well, let me introduce ourselves. From the color: Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Purple, and me Tan, in that order. This is Dusk".

"My name is Dawn"! Geez with the amount of time we knew each other, to think that oyu would of remembered my name but now". She pouted. There was a small giggle amongst the group. It seemed to be an inside thing.

"Oh, trust me, I know your name. It's just that I call you that from you waking up at twilight instead of morning. Now, where was I"? She began to think and I began to wonder how strange these people are. With their different colors, I would think that they would look like the Ice Rangers. Then she continued.

"Oh, I'll just start over. This is Dawn, Flair, Gust, Aqua, Shadow, and then me, Terra. It's nice to meet you all". She placed her hand together I'm Prin. Nice to meet you too". I held out my hand to shake hers but she bald hers into a fist? That's rude. When somebody hold out their hand, you should at least take it and shake. She then balled my hand and forced it into hers knuckles front.

"This is how we shake hands, not that old way that you do". Shadow spoke up and did the same thing to me then the others on her side but Flair. She was cleaning up the flame and having a good time. Shooting fireballs into the sky. Then I guess she got board cuz she absorbed all the flames and shpt them off in one god go. "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That was awesome"! Or she could enjoy it more... Dusk was paying more attention to Mas and Ping was hitting on Aqua and Gust. It was a long day and the fight didn't even lat that long. We need to take the time to rest up and regain our strength.

"Do you four have a place to stay?" The Gust asked. I wanted to say yes but...

"No we don't. Do you have a place in mind"? Ping slid right on to Gust's side and interlock his arm with hers. She smiled and formed a telaportation circle around us.
