ToonLupin: Hey guys! So I finally got around to writing this... Sorry about the wait. I should also mention - this chapter and the next few will most likely be quite boring! I mean... Who wants to read about Daniel learning?

Uxie: HEY! I heard that!

ToonLupin: * Gulps * Well... On the with the story!

Mesprit: Hold up! You didn't apologize to your readers!

ToonLupin: Oh... Umm... Sorry guys, didn't mean to keep you waiting...

Azelf: Just so you guys know, he doesn't own us, or the world we live in, and the moves we use. That is GameFreak and Nintendo. But he does own our personalities for the sake of this story.

Daniel looked up at Mesprit as if she had lost her mind, which in reality; she was about to. 'You mean I have to learn?' Daniel asked incredulously, 'But learning is for humans. Why do I have to do it? And I am only five...'

Mesprit shook her head sadly; this was going to be tough. Mesprit wracked her brain as she tried to come up with a way to make this easier on the both of them.

'Well...' Mesprit said slowly as Daniel looked at her expectantly, 'You have to learn because if you don't, how will you know how to have Pokemon battles? How will you know how to care for Pokemon? How will you know how to do simple things?'

Daniel looked at the ground. 'I really would like to learn about pokemon...' he thought to himself. 'Okay memma. I will learn. What's first?' Daniel asked cautiously as he looked into Mesprit's eyes. He knew his memma could get really grumpy at times.

'What do I have to do? And who is teaching me? Uncle Az? Auntie Uxie?' Daniel was slightly confused. Unconsciously, he started to play with his fringe and shifting from foot to foot. Mesprit looked at him and said gruffly, 'You will find out Danny boy!' Daniel paled and took a step back.

Before Daniel could get away, Mesprit quickly floated to him and picked him up and took him outside their cave. She set him down roughly on a rock and floated in front of Daniel in a sitting position. Daniel looked around at the lake and the reflections of the sun on the water; watching as they danced across the small waves that lapped at the shore of the small island.

'DANIEL!' Mesprit snapped, angry that the boy had zoned out. Daniel looked down, shamefaced and quickly returned his attention back to Mesprit. 'As I was saying,' Mesprit continued, 'I am going to be teaching you about emotions. And we are starting now.'

Mesprit shifted position and starting radiating happiness, even though she would rather be at the lakes borders and resting. Life as a parent was stressful, and she had found out the hard way.

'Daniel, can you feel the happiness coming from me?' Mesprit asked, hoping this would be easy and they could get it over with quickly.

Sensing the happiness that he seldom felt, Daniel face showed his amazement. 'Memma,' he said, 'You can change your emotions?' Daniel's voice showed his awe clearly.

'Yes Danny boy,' Mesprit replied, 'Even if I don't feel like it, I can radiate any kind of emotion I want.' She started radiating anger. 'Can you feel the difference Daniel?'

Daniel nodded quickly; this new emotion scared him. Daniel looked at his memma with fear in his eyes. Then, while fear showed in his eyes, a weak feeling of happiness started emanating out of him. 'Like this...?' Daniel asked with a small quaver to his voice. Mesprit was shocked; so shocked that the anger rolled off of her like it had turned into a Groudon holding a heavy ball. Daniel, who was trying hard to radiate happiness, was so surprised that he fell off of his rock into the water.

Mesprit quickly rushed to the edge of the lake, and found that Daniel was back on shore, with a Piplup standing next to him.

'Hi...' the piplup said shyly, 'I saw him over here and I wanted to play with him and then he fell in so I helped him and can I play with him please because that would be really awesome and I want to play' he finished in a rush. Mesprit started to reply when the piplup started up again.

'Oh oops! I am Piplup, I live with this old guy who lets me stay here most of the time. So... can we play?' Piplup looked up hopefully at Mesprit, not realizing that he was talking to one of the legendaries; a lake guardian at that.

Mesprit giggled, put off by Daniel's show of competence as she replied, 'Of course little Piplup. Off you go, our lessons are done for now.' She turned to Daniel and started speaking to him as he just stared at Piplup in wonder. 'But Daniel, just remember. Uncle Az will be here soon, so you can't be too long.'

Daniel, still marveling over the piplup that had helped him out of the water. 'Yeah, sure memma.'

Mesprit left and floated back into the cave. Daniel watched her go, completely forgetting what had just transpired. Then he turned his attention to Piplup. 'What do you want to do?' he asked eagerly. Piplup turned, and without warning, pecked him on the shoulder. Then running off, he giggling over his shoulder, 'Tip! Your in!'

And so the two played, chasing each other back and forth over the island shore, and occasionally going a little ways into the water. All too soon, Azelf arrived.

On Azelf's arrival, Daniel quickly said goodbye to Piplup. 'Bye Piplup, let's play again soon!'

'Yeah!' Piplup replied enthusiastically, 'How about tomorrow?' Piplup looked to Azelf, who was floating in mild surprise behind Daniel.

'Unfortunately, no. But Daniel here will most likely be at his Auntie's for quite a few days after today. She has some very important lessons for this young boy' Daniel gave a small glare at Azelf as he called him a 'young boy'. Missing this completely, Piplup replied with a small , 'Aww... That's okay... Maybe some other time then...'

Piplup quickly turned away and dove into the lake, swimming off under the water so that his childish tears were hidden. As soon as Piplup disappeared Daniel turned to his Uncle, Azelf, with a curious look in his eye. 'Why would Auntie Uxie need me for more than a day? I didn't do something wrong... Did I?' Daniel asked worriedly while he twiddled with his thumbs.

Azelf turned to him and looked at him kindly. 'No Daniel, you did not do anything wrong,' Azelf said, his eyes sparkling with mirth, 'You will find out when you get there, and your auntie will tell you what is happening. But that is for when you get there, for now, we should head to my lake.' Daniel's face lit up as he smiled and took hold of one of Azelf's tails, preparing himself to be teleported to Lake Valor.

With an audible pop, the two disappeared from sight. Mesprit sighed with relief, 'Now I can relax for the first time in four and a half years... I hope he is ok.'

ToonLupin: So there you are! Who knew that Mesprit could actually be a caring and considerate parent? I certainly didn't.

Mesprit: * glares evilly at ToonLupin *

ToonLupin: * is oblivious to the death stare * So... I should probably start with chapter 3, right?

Uxie and Azelf: RIGHT!

ToonLupin: * notices Mesprit glaring at him and gulps * I'll go do that now... BYE! * sprints away from Mesprit who is now chasing him *
