Chapter Three: I Can't Do This
Sakura shut her door behind her a little harder than she needed to. She crossed her room in a blur of tears, before pitching forward and collapsed on her bed. She sobbed loudly, warm liquid spilling free from her green eyes and soaking her bed, as she clutched her pillows tightly in her fisted hands.
"I just don't understand." She whimpered.
Her mind was in an uproar. Colorful flashes of Sasuke doing various things flashed behind her eyes. Sasuke sinking the basket to score the winning point during their championship game. The way he nibbled on his pencil's eraser as he tried to think of the answer on a test. His coal eyes darkening when he was aroused and even how soft his lips felt pressed against her lips.
"I can't take this anymore!" She screamed.
The pain in her chest was building, as her memories changed to something more tormenting. Ino's smile as she walked side by side with Sasuke. His cocky smirk he liked to flash her. The way his arm seemed to always be over her shoulder or around her waist. Even more painful was how easily their hands seemed to fight together.
Her heart was breaking.
"Sasuke." She whined.
"What?"
Time seemed to stand still as she rolled over. Her curtains were billowing in the soft breeze. It took her a moment to realize someone standing in front of her window. Sakura sat up quickly and rubbed the tears from her eyes. The pink haired girl sat dumbfounded, shocked to the point of double and then triple blinking. It was none other than Sasuke, wearing a devilish smirk as he crossed the short distance to her bed.
"What can you not do?" His deep voice filled her ears.
Sakura couldn't breathe. His presence filled her senses, his scent that seemed to be a cross between burning wood and the wind. He moved cautiously, before sitting down beside her. In a blind fury, she turned away from him as fresh tears collected in her eyes. The silence that seemed to stretch around them was growing awkward.
Sasuke lightly touched her shoulder with his hand, earning a gasp from the girl. Suddenly she turned on him, green eyes blazing in an inferno of both anger and pain. Her cheeks were flushed her eyes narrowing as she opened her mouth to unleash the words she'd always kept buried in her soul escaped her.
"I can't do this anymore." She yelled as she made a sweeping motion with her arms, "I simply can't be your night time good time anymore."
Sasuke said nothing as she spoke. His expression never changed and he kept his large onyx eyes on her. After a while he nodded. The clever Uchiha knew this little outburst of hers was going to happen eventually and he was prepared.
"This isn't me." She continued, "I love you, Sasuke! I always have and I always will. But I refuse to be the girl you call up once in a blue moon to sleep with because you aren't getting it from your girlfriend."
"You don't have to be." He said after a moment.
Sakura blinked, clearly taken aback by his sudden words. Even more so by the emotion behind his declaration, he almost sounded genuine. What did he mean? Was he breaking things off with her? Was he bored with her? Did Ino finally decide to sleep with him and now Sasuke had no use for her now?
Her heart was racing, but she couldn't find her words.
"Ino broke up with me while we were at Naruto's house." He explained, "She's with Shikamaru."
"Why are you telling me this?" She asked, finally finding her voice.
He didn't answer her right away, but leaned in and kissed her lips gently. Sakura's lips curved up into a true smile.
"I want you, Sakura." He breathed against her lips, "No one else."
The sun raised high, its bright beams slipping through her sheer curtains and warming her face. Green eyes fluttered open to meet the sleeping features of her dark haired lover. Sakura smiled and lightly kissed the soft lips of her Sasuke. His eyes lazily drifted open to meet her face.
"Good morning." She greeted.
Sasuke flashed a smirk, but didn't say anything. He stretched his arms over his head and flexed his legs muscles. It was obvious that he was still a little worn-out from their rigorous workout the night before. They'd made the kind of love you read about but rarely see.
"I guess I best get out of here before your dad catches me." He said, leaning down to give her a quick kiss on her lips.
Sakura nodded, wrapping her blanket around her and watching as the Uchiha stumbled around her room searching for his shirt and shoes. She waved him off as he slipped out her window and shimmied down the tree. The rosette teen watched him slip into his car, before she shut her window.
Today they would be starting out their new relationship as being a not so secret item. As awesome as that was, that wasn't why Sakura currently smiled. No, her reason was something not so complex and almost as sweet.
"He stayed." She whispered, a dazzling smile playing on her lips.
AN: Finally it's done. Sorry it took me so long. Oh and yeah I know it is kind of a corny way to end...but hey I was in that kind of mood when the concept of this fanfic came to mind. Hope everyone enjoyed my short little 3 chappie drabble. Don't forge to R&R.
