Hey Hey Hey! I would like to say that I am loving that I am starting to get more reviews, and I am feeling really good about this story again! Anywho, I still don't own anything in here, and if I did I would be a LOT richer. The onlything I do own are my OCs!
"What the hell is wrong with you Christopher Ryan Brandt?!" Chris winced as he held the phone away from his ear when his best friend decided to –scream- into his ear. Before he could say more she had continued, if in a more reasonable volume. "I thought you were actually making progress why the hell would you run away from him like that? Do you know how badly in trouble you would have been in if that was me you ran from?"
Chris sighed, looking into the mirror that hangs on the back of his door. His shirt was off and he was poking experimentally at his ribs. "I know Amber, trust me. I just… panicked. I actually forgot about my ribs for a while when he was washing my hair…" He paused when he heard her snicker and he mentally face palmed. "Not like that you brat! Like I told you before, we were both fully clothed."
"Uh huh… sure you were, but what I want to know is when you plan on telling someone about your dad." It was quiet for a while after that, he scowled at his reflection. "Come on Chris, you know that if you don't get your ribs checked out you could really hurt your lungs? What would you do about your singing career then, huh?"
"Just… You know I can't do anything Amber. The last time I even tried to say something about him smacking mom and I around things only got worse. And to top it all off I was labeled as a fucking Liar!" He scowled, that was the one thing he never really forgave his mother for; despite the love he held for her. She had told his teachers at his old school, when he had informed them of his father's behavior, that things at home were just fine and that he was just trying to get some attention.
He heard his friend sigh and he could almost picture her pacing her –pink- room trying to think of something. "What if you don't bother with the teachers this time?" He frowned, that was just….
"I thought you said you wanted me to tell someone-"
"I do you dolt! Just… not the teachers. Maybe on your way home tomorrow you can have Kurt take you to the police-"
"Stop, just, stop right there Amber." He sighed as he ran a hand over his face. "One, I don't plan on telling Kurt anything, and two; what if the same thing happens this time?"
He could almost see the comforting look Amber was giving him, even if he couldn't actually see it. "Look, I know that it's a risk, but you need to get those ribs checked out!"
He blinked. "Well what if I just say that I got into a fight-"
"No, because then they would want to know who beat you up, and if you say it was the jocks they can just say that all they did was throw a slushy at you. And… you know I am on your side here, but who are they going to believe? The new kid or the kids who have gone there their whole life?"
He let out a rather frustrated sigh as he pulled on one of his hoodies, and grabbed his boots from by his door. "Look… I need to think this over; I'll call tomorrow and let you know what is going on… okay?"
Amber let out a small sigh. "Yea… okay, love you, you idiot."
He laughed, rolling his eyes. "Yea love you too." He hung up the phone and bit his lip as he put his desk chair under the handle of his door. His parents usually didn't bother him this late; it was actually pretty early, eight or so. He just wanted to make sure that they didn't walk into his empty room later.
He moved over to his dresser and stood up on it, slowly pushing open the basement window so he could slip through it. He was actually pretty lucky that you could open the window from the outside as well, otherwise he would have to leave it open and let all kinds of bugs in his room.
After standing up outside he made his way out to the street, his hands shoved deep into the pocket of his hoodie. He thought of what Amber had told him, and bit his lip. Did he dare going to Kurt for help? And for that matter why Kurt? Why not just find the police on his own? He knew that Amber would just tease him and say that he had a crush, and maybe he was starting to. That, however; didn't mean that he wanted to tell Kurt everything about his home life.
And that was another problem. If he did have a crush on the other boy, and he wasn't saying that he did, what would Kurt think of him after he found out that he was basically his dad's punching bag? Would he pity him? Or would he be disgusted by him? Both options didn't sound very appealing, and he was just about ready to pull his hair out and scream. He blinked as he thought about what had been going through his mind. He was Chris Brandt, he wore eyeliner and wasn't afraid to wear a dress to school on pink day. Why should he care what someone thinks of him? And for that matter why was he just letting his dad get away with this?
He pulled his phone out quickly, he didn't want to lose his nerve, and sent a quick text to Kurt.
Hey, sorry about before, can we talk? –C-
He put the phone back in his pocket and took a moment to look at his surroundings; he was currently across the street from a small park, and shrugged. He walked over to one of the swings and sat down, just when his phone went off and alerting him to a text.
Yes, call or text? K
He bit his lip, he wasn't sure if he could explain everything in a text, and he wasn't really up for another phone call.
Actually… can we meet? I know it's getting late, its IMPORTANT –C-
He waited a little bit longer, absently swinging his legs as he watched a few random cars drive by; he glanced to the phone in his hand when he got a reply.
Yes… R U at home? K
No, some park near my house. –C-
He replaced his phone in his pocket when he didn't get a reply for a while and started twisting in the swing so that it would spin on way then the other. He had been at it for a few minutes, and starting to get dizzy, when he heard someone walking near him. He did his best to stop the spinning and looked up to see Kurt standing with his arms crossed trying to hide an amused smile by scowling.
"Oh… hey Kurt…" He rubbed at the back of his neck, standing up as slowly as he could, trying to get his thoughts in order. "Look, Kurt… before at school… I'm sorry…"
He looked up to Kurt to see him nod, but he was still scowling. "Its fine, but why didn't you say they had hit you too? We could have gone to the-"
"Wait! What are you talking about?" Chris was confused, was he thinking that the bruises were from those jocks? "Kurt… those… Cliché bullies weren't the ones who did that…"
Kurt gave him a look, it was obvious he was confused, and Chris couldn't blame him. "Then who did…?"
Chris started walking over to one of the benches that the parents usually sat at to watch their kids, watching his feet as he sat down, not quite willing to watch Kurt's reaction. "Well… that's the thing… Kurt when I was In Iowa… things was starting to get a little bad."
Kurt must have followed him because he felt him sit next to him, and place a hand on his shoulder. "With bullies or…?"
Chris shook his head. "No, I actually wasn't bothered that much back there… but, and you have to understand a lot of this is my fault... I never made things easy, always had to push his buttons…" He took a breath, knowing that the only thing he was accomplishing was confusing Kurt. "I really don't go around telling everyone my life story you know, but you figured out about… me and you've been a great guy so far-" He laughed a bit humorlessly. "Actually I'm the one who hasn't been a good friend, snapping at you and everything else-"He stopped himself, knowing that he was just rambling to avoid the big issue here. "Sorry, I just… I've only told a few people about this, and it's not that easy."
Kurt nodded slowly, just watching him for now, not sure what to say, he could tell that the other boy was nervous, but he just couldn't figure out why? Who had been hurting his friend, and why was it so hard for Chris to tell him?
"The thing is Kurt… it's my dad…" He paused, forcing himself to glance over to Kurt, to see the boy's eyes widen so far he thought that they would just fall right out of his head. He hurried on to explain, before his friend got the wrong idea. "It's not his fault, though, not really. He was always getting stress from work and his only son isn't exactly what he was hoping for… He doesn't know that I'm gay, but I wear makeup! And every chance I get I seem to enjoy rubbing it in his face that he never amounted to anything and-"He was cut off by Kurt wrapping his arms around his shoulders, hugging him close.
They didn't say anything for a while, and when Kurt pulled back he had a determined expression on his face. "You are staying at my place tonight." Chris watched his friend's face for a while, blinking when he saw absolutely no room for argument. "I'll let my dad know and we can stop by your house so you can grab some clothes, but I will not take no for an answer."
Chris nodded, and then let his friend pull him to his car, he was almost in a daze as they made their way to his house, and he stopped him before he pulled into the driveway and gave a small smile. "I'll be right back, I snuck out the basement window before, and I don't really want to get caught."
Kurt gave a small smile and waited in the car while Chris went into his room through the window, rounding up a few outfits of clothes –in case he had another slushy incident at school- the shirt he borrowed from Kurt, and his school things before heading towards the bathroom and getting his makeup and anything else he might need from there.
By the time he had made it back to Kurt's car it was well after nine-thirty, and he could tell that his friend was getting a little tired. "Thanks Kurt… for listening, and forcing me to stay with you tonight."
Kurt grinned at him as he started the car up and headed for his house. "No problem, besides, what are friends for?"
Okay people, I'm going to try and make chapters longer bit by bit, but for now that is all I can do, I'll post another one AsAp! I'm also working on an Avatar:the last airbender Fanfic if anyone is interested! Oh! And a big thank you to all my reviewers! Particularly my most loyal one, Rainshadow999!
