Floor 48

As we walk through the forest, Sachi was showing me the way to the town that her friend Lisbeth the blacksmith was. After the day Sachi found out about my "secret job", she was a bit nervous about showing me to her friend. Grant it, I'm a bit on edge myself. I don't know where, but I saw Silica before, and she recognized me on the spot. Will Lisbeth have the same reaction? "Katzugami, are you alright?"

I shake myself from my day dream and Sachi was looking at me with concern."Ya I'm fine, so how much further", I ask.

She smiles in releaf, "ok. Don't worry, we'll be there soon." I nod my head, pulling my cigarettes and burnt one with the incinerator. I let out a small cloud of smoke, which flicked Sachi from 'nice little angel' to ' my mom'. She then gives me those cold eyes that only a monster wished they had. She crosses her arms and just looked at me until I drop it. I threw it to the ground then extinguish it wth my foot by. To see that she is happy, I look at her with that 'are you happy ' look and all she does is smile.

It was getting late in the city as players were more scarce then usual. It almost felt like a ghost town, all it needed was tumble weed and some saloons. As we walked through the town, we heard footsteps off in the distance. I saw a man with several people behind him, it was a massive powerful guild, the 'Nights of the Blood Othe'. I grabbed Sachi and we hid in a near by ally way and I held her close. "Katzugami what's going on?"

I put my finger over my mouth to quiet her and listen, there were about 20 players or so. They were marching in sync, so it sounded like a giant was coming. They passed by us without a second thought, 'dam, there must have been a meeting for a boss raid. Oh well, I'll just ask Kirito later.' Sachi gives me a weird look, "why did you hide from the 'Nights of the Blood Oath'?"

She got me in a corner, so no point lieing, "you could say me and them had a run-in when I was 'working'." As the sound of their marching subsided, Sachi and I left the ally way and continued to Lizabeth's shop. But because of Sachi's memory, it apperantly wasn't the easiest task.

After an hour of searching, we found the shop. It was nice and small, didn't look buisy most of the day. Sachi let herself inside and a little bell rang, telling the clerk people are here. The place had shelves and shelves of weapons and tools. 'this place isn't half bad', then there is a door leading to a back entrance. We could hear footsteps from the other side as someone opened the door. Out came a girl with pink hair and a red and white dress smiling, "welcome to Lisbeth's shop".

Sachi walked over to her and hugged her old friend, "Lis, it's good to see you, how have you been?"

Lisbeth's smile grew wider as her old friend came to greet her, " its good to see you too Sachi, I've been doing great, and you?"

"Just amazing!" Sachi steps away from her friend and gets down to buisness, "my friend Katzugami wanted to try and get a new sword, but his sword is kind of, special. Do you think you can make one just like it?"

I pull out the sword and gave it to Lisbeth. It was a long sword with a white scaple and black handle, its name was Florashine. Lizabeth was looking through its stats and then stopped. She went to the counter, put the sword down, slammed the counter top and yelled, "where the hell did you find it?!"

Even Sachi was a bit surprised, "What do you mean Lis, is the sword really that hard to equal?"

Lisbeth looked at me, " you never showed her these stats before right?" I nod my head and she mentally socks me in the jaw and grabs the sword. She gives it to Sachi and shows her the stats," look at these numbers!"

As Sachi checks the numbers, she practically faints at what she sees. "1250 damage per swing, piercing 975, where on earth did you get this sword."

That was a pretty easy of a question to answer, " I got it from a monster drop, and...". Instantly I felt like I was punched in the gut, because the only monsters that dropped this were high leveled like floor 50 or so.

Both of them were just looking at me like I was an alien. Then Lisbeth flinched and grabbed Sachi by the wrist hauling her to the back of the store. "Get away from us you you monster! Someone please help, the White blood is in my store, someone please!"

I lunge at her and knocked her out with my sword's handle, only to make her go flying towards the wall. I immediately regret everything I just did as Lizabeth struggled to get up from that monstrous blow. I look at Sachi and she is concerned for the fact that I hit her best friend, and the fact that she knew my secret. Soon Lisbeth stood up and grabbed a weapon from the wall, a massive mace. She saw that I had Sachi and roared, "Get away from her!"

She charged at us at full speed, 'what do I do, if I strike, things will get worse, but if I don't, this is gona hurt. Dam it!' I closed my eyes and brace for impact as Lisbeth reached attacking range, but she suddenly stopped. I opened my eyes as Sachi had her face hairs away from the mace. Her face showed no fear as Lisbeth slowly pulled the mace away from her. Lisbeth put away the mace and Sachi looked straight into her eyes as she announce, "I won't let you harm Katzugami."

I loosened up as I saw how brave and bold Sachi has grown. Lisbeth was stunned by Sachi, but then came back to senses. "Sachi, do you even know who you're defending there, a murderer, a heartless, cruel, assassin. He should be hung and killed in public. How did you not notice that he killed people behind your back?"

Sachi looks at Lisbeth with a straight firm face," I know what he has done, but he didn't do this with a smile. He's kind and helpful and…"

"They're all just ways to trick you! That's what assassins are, lying, conniving, soulless bastards who only care about themselves!"

"He didn't want to kill people, he was forced because of me. He didn't want me to get hurt, but he regrets every horrible thing he's done."

"Why do they want him to kill, oh ya, that's because he can kill someone and nobody would ever know. He could kill you and then lie about what happened, you could die and I wouldn't know, just like them!" Lisbeth soon began to cry, "Just like them, like them, my own friends!"

I soon understood what was happening and went into my menu. I put my assassin disguises, the one that I hadn't used since Sachi found out about me. It was a white cloche with a golden cross design, with black and white boots that went up to my knees, a white tunic and pants, and a golden scalpel with my sword 'Halo'.

I walked over to Lisbeth and she backed away when I pulled my sword out. Sachi looked at me, but I gave her a smile that told her everything will be alright. Lisbeth was trembling against the wall, "you can't kill me in the safe zone, so don't try."

I lifted my sword and she continued to tremble. Then in an instant, Lisbeth saw me implant my sword into the ground, "I don't know how many of you friends I have killed, but you can stab me for every one of of them." I stood up strait as Lisbeth was stunned by my sudden act.

Lisbeth slowly stood up and she had her eyes on me the whole way. She grabbed the sword and it was so heavy, it took he both of her hands. She pointed it right at me, trying to balance herself into position. Then in a quick instant, the sword, my sword went straight into my chest. She continued to push it into my body until it was all the way till the hilt touched my chest. My health had hit the halfway point, 'man, this thing hurts more then I thought'. Lisbeth hid her face as she slowly pulled the sword out of my chest. When it was all out, instead of going for another stab, she dropped it and stared at the ground. "why, why are you being so nice, like it's going to make a difference. People are still going to hate you for killing so many people, so why be so nice to them. Besides…" she points over my shoulder.

Sachi was in tears, quietly crying to herself on the floor. I look at her and relize something. I look at Lizabeth and walk over to Sachi," Sachi, I'm ok see, I only lost half my health. I'm not dead, not as long as your still in this game."

She slowly looks up, tears still leaking from her face. Her eyes were red and watery as she looked up at my face. She drove her face into my tunic as she began to cry again, repeating, "please don't leave me, please don't leave me, please don't leave me…"

As she continued to cry, I held her in my arms, cooing in her ear to calm her down ,"Hey Lisbeth?" she looked at me, "is this how people crying when they lose someone they care about in this game?"

She looks over at me and Sachi," ya, something like that." Lisbeth said wiping some tears out of her eyes. I grab Sachi by her soulders as I helped her stand up.

"Lisbeth" I call her again, "Can you make me a sword like Florashine please?" Sachi looks up from my chest, "if I keep using that old thing, it'll break while I'm trying to protect Sachi."

Lisbeth stares at me for a bit and then smiles, "sure, but it'll take a while for me to get the materials for it. I'll message you when it's ready, ok."

I smile at her, "ya, I'll wait, but don't keep me waiting to long ok. My job is to protect Sachi now, I need the right tools."

"Right!"

It was the next morning, we stayed in an inn nearby. After what happened, Sachi went to mom mode and described how dangerous that was. But, like the angel she was, she forgave me and we headed back to Lis's shop in the morning. Lisbeth messaged us last night and said for what happened yesterday, she was going to sharpen my worn-out sword for 50% off, 'go figure'.

When we got to the shop, she was restalking her shelves. As they did yesterday, the friends hugged again as if they were gone for years. She went behind the counter and asked for my sword again. As I pulled out my sword, she looked a bit confused, "why are you giving me Halo?"

I grinned and rubbed the back of my head in embarrassment, "because Florashine sort of... broke." I had never felt more like a dunce cap in my life. The girls both looked at eachother and broke out laughing. Soon, I started to laugh with them until we were all out of breath.

Soon Lisbeth was in the back room with me and Sachi. It was a small room with a furnace, a giant sharpening wheel, a back entrance, and buckets of water to cool down the smelted metals. As Lis sharpened my sword, we heard a knock from the back door. Lisbeth called out, "who is it".

"Its me, Asuna" anounced the person behind the door.

"Hold on, I just need to finish this sword and I'll get the door for you", said Lisbeth as she finished my sword.

'Crap, why did Asuna have to come here now. If she sees me...' I shiver at the thought. As Lis gives me my sword, I pay for it and she heads to open the door for Asuna. While she does that, I try to find a way out of this situation, 'the door, it's my only hope'.

As I ready myself to sprint, "is Asuna a friend of yours too Lis" asked Sachi out of quriosity.

"Ya, she helped me alot. Why don't you stay and meet her?"

"Sure".
