AN: Notes and Disclaimer on first chapter!
*Hermione POV*
Finally! It's the first day of school! This day took too long to come! I think that this is the first time in Weasley history that we arrived for the train a half hour early! I found my way to the Head compartment, and I sat down to read, before I met Draco.
*Draco POV*
Hermione didn't realize that I entered the platform right behind her, so I basically followed her to the Head compartment. I let her have a few moments in there alone, so I wouldn't seem like a creeper. I do want to make a better "1st" impression. I opened the door.
"Hello, Hermione" I nodded. She looked up from her book,
"Hello, Draco."
"How was your summer?"
"Enjoyable, slow,"
"How was it slow?"
"Well," she paused to give me a look, "I couldn't wait to get back to school after I found out that I earned the spot of Head Girl!" I had to pause for a moment to stop from smirking. This is such typical behavior for her. And then, a thought struck me.
"You were still excited after you knew that I'm Head Boy?" She gave me an incredulous look,
"Why would that matter? We already agreed to end our pointless feud." I was stunned, and she went back to her book.
*Hermione POV*
After I turned back to Hogwarts, a History. I sat there not really reading, I practically memorized the book, but I digress. I started thinking of my history with him, and I realized that the first actual things he said to me, was calling me a mudblood for the first time. I sat up.
"Draco, may I ask you a question?"
"Sure,"
"I realized something just now"
"I don't see how that is your question, but continue"
"Why did you hate me?" He looked dumbfounded,
"Ca-can you clarify?"
"Yes, why did you hate me so much that the first words you said to me were to call me a mudblood," He looked at me, confused, before realization dawned upon his face.
"Oh, you're talking about that time in the Quidditch pitch, aren't you?" I nodded, he sighed. "I'll be honest, I didn't hate you, I was jealous at how smart you were," I scoffed, "I'm serious! My father, at that point, was still keeping up his façade of being the cruel Death Eater that he passed off so easily. I, at the time, thought that the best way to get in his good graces was to act like him. I-I'm sorry, Hermione" Did-… Did he just apologize?
*Draco POV*
Her mouth dropped open. Great, she doesn't believe me. I sighed, and that seemed to startle her out of her stupor. She then said two words that I didn't think I would hear so early in our time of peace,
"I understand,"
"You do?"
"Yes, I know what it's like to have to live up to your parent's expectations," I was about to ask her what she meant when the train started moving. "Well, I guess that's our cue to talk to the Prefects," She marked her place in her book, which I could now see was Hogwarts, a History, and opened the door, "Well, are you coming, or should I talk to them alone?"
