Chapter 3 Hooded Shadows
A BIG shout out to Natsuki D for reviewing! Thanking fucking you for doing that. I probably won't give up on this story now. To the two guests who have reviewed, thanking your pretty asses as well but make an account so I can thank you formally. I guess for everyone that has an account and makes a super unique comment, I'll give a shout out to in the beginning of the chapter! And also to the people who even bothered to take a second glance at this story, thanks so much. You guys don't even know how much it means to me, in my small fucking heart.
I've been spending way too much time on school so I couldn't get to writing this chapter. In this one, Hitch and Annie are going to be the creepy stalkers they are and Armin and Jean are introduced. If you have any problems, please comment below and try to give comments of what you want. I'll do my best to help you enjoy the story better! Until someone comments and reviews, Armin and Jean are an official pair in this story. I'm hoping that in the next chapter, Levi can finally meet Eren in person. Maybe? Who knows? Enjoy this chapter!
Levi walked down to the locker rooms just after he parted with Erwin from their short walk to the hospital. The blonde had shown up in the morning as if it were the most normal thing. Levi had spent the entire night cuddling the warm wool blankets to his chest and touching the side of the bed where Erwin could have been. The raven walked up to the small cupboard that was used as his closet. He placed his bag into the cupboard and reached in for his nurse uniform. He began changing slowly, taking tie to strip from his clothes.
"Ah, Levi! You're early today!" The raven turned and saw the petite strawberry blonde nurse walk in. Bright blue eyes stared deep into Levi's as he regarded the newcomer. "Good morning, Levi!" Armin said as he bounced up and down.
Levi snorted his response and pulled up his pants. After dressing, the two men walked out of the changing room together and headed towards the main lobby for a fresh cup of brewed coffee. The new girl at the main building could make the best coffee. Levi sniffed and gave the drink an approving nod as he was handed a cup. The girl smiles cutely before bouncing to the other workers. Erwin Smith walks out of his office and smoothly slides up next to Levi, who was keeping his nose buried in the coffee. The blonde smiles and Armin bows.
"Good morning, sir!"
"Good morning, Armin," the head doctor said. He turned towards the petite girl and waited until she handed him a cup. She smiled brightly and said,
"Here you go, doctor!"
"Thank you, Petra."
Levi huffs and walks away from where the rest of the workers were and up to his office. Once in, he walks over to the rubber gloves that were placed neatly on the wooden desk and puts them on, stretching them over his fingers. He reaches for the mouth mask when a larger hand comes down and wraps itself around his. For a moment he thinks it is Armin's for the fingers were smooth and long like piano keys. Then he sees the silver ring on the index finger.
Levi immediately pulls away, knocking a stack of books off his desk and an ink bottle in his haste, and looks up with wide eyes. He sees nothing.
The raven is dumb-founded. There was a person in my office. He was sure that someone had placed a hand on his. Yet there was no one there. Levi knows it was a gentle touch of a smooth hand, but who was it? He looks around the room, trying to find evidence that it wasn't his hallucinations. He hadn't had one in-! Armin rushes in followed closely by Erwin.
"Levi! What's wrong?! There was a sudden loud noise!" Corn flower blue eyes look down at the stack of books on the ground and the spreading ink stain. Erwin walked forward quickly and paused when he saw the raven's pale face and shaking knees. The blonde turned towards Armin.
"Armin, why don't you go down to the main lobby? I am sure you'll be greatly needed there. I'll tend to Levi." The smaller blonde hesitated eyes trailing back to Levi for a moment before shrugging. He nodded and ran off. After he was gone, Levi sighed as Erwin walked towards him and began to pat him lightly.
"I'm fine, God, you don't need to get all touchy! I just tripped and knocked over some shit." The raven said, knocking the blonde's hand off. Levi ignored the other man as he walked over to the box of napkins and began to wet them at the sink nearby. He walked back, kneeled down, and began to clean up the ink stain. Erwin stared down at the raven for a moment before kneeling down next to him and placing a gentle hand over the smaller one.
"You're shaking Levi," he was stating the obvious fact. "Something is bothering you."
"The fuck you're talking about?!" he snapped, suddenly annoyed with the taller man. "Nothing's wrong; like I said, I just fell and-" Levi was cut off by a rough kiss forced onto his mouth. "Smith, what the hell are-" The blonde's hot tongue made his way into Levi's mouth as he forced a deeper kiss. The raven tried to push him away, but the blonde only held tighter. After a while of deep, hot, breathtaking kissing, Erwin released him.
"Something is bothering you," the man repeated. Levi said nothing and when he didn't raise his face to the other man, Erwin gently placed a hand under the raven's face and lifted it up. Levi's hard grey eyes met Erwin's clear blue ones.
"Someone was in my room." He said solemnly, face clear of emotion. Erwin's eyes widen, but soon crinkled up in a smile. He smiled despite the growing heat in Levi's face. He laughed out loud and Levi stuck out his lower lip. "I'm dead serious, you little fuck!"
"Levi," Erwin began, wiping tear drops away with the back of his hand. "What have you been reading at night to make you have ridiculous visions in pure daylight? Edgar Allen Poe? I cannot even believe you, of all people, is scared in broad sunlight!"
"I was not joking, Smith," Levi said, eyes narrowing, face red as a tomato. A dark aura filled the room leaving a frightening chilling sensation behind. Erwin stopped laughing and placed an arm around the smaller man's shoulders.
"Levi, I will personally take you out for a walk around the park and if you'd like, I'll treat you Italian cuisine for dinner." The raven narrowed his eyes. Erwin raised an eyebrow. "I apologize for laughing earlier. It was quite rude of me. Taking you out for dinner is my repayment. You'll come, no?" The smaller man narrowed his eyes.
"Maybe I will." He leaned in for another kiss.
….
Armin was waiting for Levi in the blood bag room. The small blonde gave Levi small, quick glances every once a while. He stared deeply at Levi as they stood side by side, checking the bags. They exchanged occasional small talk. It was just, "pass me that bag," or, "how is your blood bag?" Simple talk. But after a while later, Levi couldn't take it anymore.
"Take a picture; it'll last longer." He said. Armin's neck and ears flushed with color.
"Sorry, Levi. It's-." He paused, staring at Levi for another couple of seconds before finally speaking. "I was just… are you… Is Doctor Smith really your boyfriend?" he squeaked out. Levi twisted his head and raised an eyebrow. Armin turned his head down and blushed. "I overheard you conversation and I saw the, kiss." He said, getting all quiet when he said 'kiss'. Levi stared at him for a second before sighing.
"I don't know what we have, Armin." The raven said, quietly. "I don't know if he loves me or not, but I like him." Armin's eyes widened. "It's just complicated and shit so I don't really want to talk about it, okay? I don't force my ass into your life so don't fuck into mine, you dig, coconut?"
"Oh, I'm sure he likes you, Levi. You're pretty and nice and so generous. So good! So he must like-!" there was a sudden pounding on the door of the blood room. Armin frowned and paused, placing a gloved hand over the blood packet he had been checking. He glanced over at Levi who had paused what he was doing and was now staring back at the blonde, pupils darkening from narrowed eyes. They were thinking the exact same thing. No one is allowed to barge into the blood room, not even the doctor. Then who was knocking on the door?
The raven shrugs and walks swiftly to the door and swung it open after another glance at Armin. There was a small pause before the small blonde boy cried out in pleasure and rushed over to the person that stood outside. "Jean! What a pleasant surprise!" he said, throwing his arms around the two toned haired man. Jean laughed and hugged Armin back. Levi scoffs.
"No one is allowed in here, fuck tart. How in the name of the devil did you get past the nurses?" Levi asked, a scowl visible on his face. The unfamiliar man smiled and finally seemed to notice Levi.
"Ah, you must be Levi! Armin tells me all about you. I'm Jean, nice to meet you." The man said, extending a hand out towards Levi. After a moment it was clear that Levi didn't want to take it so he just let it drop to his side. His voice was deep and had an elegant slur to it, which painfully reminded Levi of Erwin. There was an uncomfortable silence that stretched for some time before Armin broke it.
"L-Levi, Jean is my best friend." He said, choosing to stare at Levi's shoes instead of his dark glaring eyes. "Ah, I'll go over to the break room to speak with him. Um, see you in a little bit…?" Levi still said nothing and stood there awkwardly as the two walked off, hand in hand. Wasn't that gesture too strange? It was too familiar. But Levi didn't want to question his friend. He didn't want to be the one judging the young blonde.
…..
There were three more hours until the hospital closed for the day and Levi was strangely looking forward to dinner with the tall ass blonde. After a few hours of accidentally burning himself so he could talk to the new nurse, Petra, he decides to take a break. He heads for the break room, but is stopped, by quite, small sounds coming from one of the vacant rooms in the east wing. The raven pauses and remembers that it was supposed to be empty. He curiously pushes the door open a crack and peeks in.
Levi sees the small blonde held closely by the other man, Jean. They seemed to be in an embrace, with Jean's head pushed into Armin's shoulder, but there were soft wet sounds and Levi knows better. He whips his head around and walks quickly to the break room. The two young men should have known better than to be giving hickeys during work hours. Armin was making soft whimpers as if he was in pain, but said nothing and clutched the sleeve of the other man's shirt. Levi must have made some noise for Jean's eyes suddenly flashed open.
The raven wasn't concerned with the fact that Jean saw him; he was just taken back by the red orbs staring back at him. Jean smirks as he kisses Armin and winks at Levi. The raven twists his head and walks away quickly. Does he have red eyes? He enters the break room and slams the door shut with a loud bang.
….
After work, Levi changes and walks down towards Erwin's office like he does every single night. On his way there, he passes Armin and Jean who don't even give him one glance, just smiling and chatting away. He sighs and pushes the large doors open and walked in.
The two men walked out together, Levi's hand in the pocket of the blonde, even thought the raven had protested; he was embarrassed to be seen with the handsome doctor. They made their way to the luscious park filled with flowers, Levi loved so much. There were children running around holding bright colored wind wheels, shouting with laughter and joy. Dogs barked and adults chatted quietly. A clear, crisp wind blew on the late autumn evening. Levi closed his eyes and savored the feeling of peace.
Erwin smiled, reached over and caresses the raven's hair. Levi's face immediately felt hot and red. He ripped his hand from Erwin's pocket and tried to shove the other man's hand off, twisting his head this way and that to make sure no one was watching. "You worry too much, Levi! Today you are so paranoid!" Erwin said, laughing at the sight of the embarrassed man. The raven said nothing and only glared.
"Fuck off, fat fuck, I'm having a shitty day. One more fucking abnormal shit happens and I'm-," Levi mumbled, letting the last words trail away, while pursing his lips. A slight chill ran down his spine and he shivered. He glanced around again, before stuffing his cold hand back into the blonde's pocket. As he turned one more time, he caught sight of the tip of a red dress disappear the side of a building. Erwin smiled softly again and they walked together to the edge of the park where the railings separated the ocean from land. There was a comfortable silence as they glazed out across to the see the small little ships in the distance. A nice warm orange sun smiled over them, sending out pretty rays of light all around.
They stay that way for some time, before the sun set and Levi's stomach rumbled. Erwin looked up at Levi and raised an eyebrow. "Why don't we head off for dinner? I do believe I promised a nice Italian cuisine." The raven nodded and began to walk, a little closer to the taller man than before.
The two of them had a wild dinner when the waiter tried to collect food from a customer on the side and accidentally spilled water onto Erwin lap. Levi had let a string of curses fly from his mouth as some of the water splashed onto him, but Erwin had politely accepted the apology. The blonde and the raven were escorted to the restroom where they were followed by the regretful waiter. The two were given a free meal and a new bottle of fine red wine. Levi was quite satisfied with the compromise that they offered and dinner went incredibly well afterwards. They ate until neither of them could eat another bite and were full like pigs. Levi was in a very good mood as they walked out of the Italian restaurant. There had been nothing fishy in there and he had hoped that there would be none; little did he know how wrong he was.
Walking down the dark moonlit road in the chilly air was very peaceful especially if you had the company of another. Even though there were a lot of people around, surrounding and brushing the tips of Levi's sleeve, he tuned them all out and focused on the bigger hand clutching his. He and Erwin savored each other's company, secretly enjoying the warmth of the other person. They were finally holding hands. Erwin holding the smaller gloved hand of Levi. The blonde had given his own larger leather gloves to the raven when he felt the ice cold fingers on the way out of the restaurant. Levi was pleased that Erwin gave him his gloves, but protested about him being an 'ignorant fuck who cared too much.' The sounds of feet tapping on the damp cobblestones stopped as Erwin gently pulled his hands away and placed them onto Levi's shoulders.
The raven looked over at the blonde, gray eyes slitting curiously. "What is it, Erwin?" The older man smiled.
"I have a proposal to make to you. I hope that you will agree to me." He said while the edges of his lips pulled upwards into a catlike grin. Levi's eyes narrowed further.
"And…what would that be?" The raven asked, raising an eyebrow. Levi was curious. Anything that Erwin proposed always had a price. For example, the last time, the blonde had wanted for them to go on a trip to the beach to relax, but when they got there, there was lot of kissing and physical fondling. It's not like Levi cared much, in fact, he actually enjoyed the physical contact with the other man.
There was a pause before Erwin spoke again. "I want you to go to the midnight festival with me to celebrate the most beautiful full moon of the year." Erwin said, smiling wider and wider with every moment that passed. Levi eyes widened till they were as large as eggs.
He pushed Erwin by the chest, leaned in, and hissed, "Do not talk so loud, fat fuck! Do you want people to hear?" Levi did not want anyone to overhear them yet there were a few who walked away staring. Such a handsome man asking such a nasty thug to go to a festival together. Just thinking of the idea made him cringe with disbelief. Just thinking of the crowded place filled with people made his stomach churn. Who knew how many people, what kind of people, touched the items there.
"And why would you want to take me?" Levi whispered, now frowning. "I'm sure there are plenty of pretty women out there that would die to be given time with you and to have your attention for one night. Why not choose one of them? There's a billion pretty girls out there, just waiting for you Erwin!" Erwin head tilted to the side.
"Why them, but not you? A billion girls, but why not you?" Erwin asked, looking as though he didn't understand a word of what Levi had said at all. As though nothing the raven had said even made since. "I like spending time with you and I want to spend my nights with you." Levi considered what he had said for a moment. Then a idea sprang in his mind.
"Erwin, the festival is tomorrow right?" He asked, rounding up to Erwin and looked at him straight in the eye. There was a small devious smile on the raven's face as he whispered lower and more sharply. The blonde nodded cautiously and flinched slightly as Levi's fingernails dug into his chest.
"Well then, if I go with you…you'll have to do something for me as well." He paused, watching Erwin's expressions. "Since you want to spend your nights with me, then you have to stay with me tonight, tomorrow night, and Friday night." He said, while staring challengingly at the older man.
Erwin fumed silently and looked away. He caught eyes with a little girl who gave him a sweet smile and offered her one in return. He felt the smooth tips of his fangs slide out slowly. How could he spend the night with the raven if he smelled so good already? If he were to spend the night, he'd have to sleep in the same bed as Levi, but that would mean they'd be too close. Enough so that Erwin would want to suck his blood dry. The blonde looked over at Levi who was still staring at him. He shouldn't. Don't say yes. You are a vampire lord. Don't say yes. Don't say- "Alright, I agree."
Levi looked genuinely surprised. "Are you fucking with me right now, Smith?!" he seemed to realize that he said it a little too loudly for he clamped his hand over his mouth. The raven spun his head around to the passers on the street who were staring at them with displeased looks on their faces. Erwin laughed, a little too fast. He hoped Levi couldn't detected how nervous he really was.
"I would love to spend my nights with you! It would be my pleasure." The blonde said, forcing the tips of his fangs to sink back into his gums. Levi looked at him with wide eyes before letting a small grin rest on his lips. He seemed like he was about to kiss Erwin, but suddenly grabbed the blonde and pulled him along the road.
As they were laughing and chatting, Levi kept feeling the chill run along his spine as he walked closer towards the older man. There were tired people walking home in the night. Youngsters filled with energy, carrying bottles of booze ran by laughing and jumping in the air. Erwin had stopped Levi several times and took the liberty of handing a few coins to the children on the side of the street. The raven had always admired Erwin's qualities. The way he was always so generous and sweet to everyone.
They continued down the street. "Levi," Erwin suddenly said. "Would you like some sweets? There is a small candy cart over there. Why not I buy some for you?" Levi looked up at Erwin and nodded wordlessly. This is generous of you, Smith.
The two men walked over and Erwin began to order the sweets in a quiet, soft voice. As he was doing so, Levi looked up and red eyes met his gaze.
He flinched and backed into Erwin. He saw the red eyes of a beautiful woman wearing a dark red dress, glaring at him with an intensity that scared him. Normally, he would stare right back and take it as a challenge, but no normal human has red eyes. The raven turned his head to another way and his eye was immediately caught by silver. He turned and saw a woman with a silver ring and light blue eyes pulling down her dark blue cloak. Her blonde hair was tied into a messy bun and she was staring directly in his direction.
"Levi, what's wrong you look as pale as a sheet!" the raven clutched the sleeve of the other man as hard as he could, blinking his grey eyes rapidly. He began to sweat. Silver ring. Someone's in my room. Who was it? Blue cloak. Red tip of a dress. Red eyes. Such a beautiful woman. Jean. Red. Blue. Silver ring. Someone's in my room.
Someone is following me!
His vision turns black as the floor rushed to meet him.
