Authors note: Yes! I finally have a new chapter for this story! Sorry it took so long, but a combo of college work, job work, and writers block can damage a lot of people. I wasn't sure where to go with this story for a while but I won't give up on it, for it is my duty to deliver Gravity Falls feels and Kajiu combat in one story. If you guys have any suggestions on what I could do next, PM me or leave a review on what you think so far. Other than that, I hope you like the new chapter.
Chapter 12: A New Arrival
O-O-O
Godzilla couldn't sleep throughout the night. Not because of his wounds from the fight, which he had eventually healed with his healing factor that not many knew about, but from having his radioactive energy drained by the Shinomura.
The dinosaur tried his best to sleep soundly, but he couldn't do that without suddenly waking up drained and even starving for energy.
His friends were worried about him, especially Dipper. They bugged him all day if he was alright or if he needed any help, to which he usually replied with his stubborn attitude, snorting or growling to pretend to brush off the pain. Godzilla is still very durable for a Kajiu, but that didn't mean he couldn't feel the pain. But he also didn't want to worry Dipper or anyone else to preserve his pride and toughness that he held dearly to himself.
King of the Monsters, Stan called him, remembering his new found title he wanted to preserve, but not like this, not in his weakened state and barely standing. What if more Kajiu came to Gravity Falls again, bigger and stronger than the last, challenging Godzilla's new throne and hurting the little things he cared about.
Godzilla was not much for caring, his fellow Kajiu he could tolerate and his human companions were amusing, but Dipper was the one he cared for the most. Dipper was the very first thing Godzilla considered a caretaker and friend, what stickled out the most was his bravery and willingness that the human showed when the Meganulon from the dinosaur's very first moments tried to hurt him, actually protecting him from the insect while risking his life.
He never forgot that quick and brief moment, a moment that judged everything about the human's character that he admired and respected, but he wouldn't be soft on Dipper for that. He showed the human tough love on all occasions, but sill cared for his friend, his best friend.
But now was not a time to relax and be nice, Godzilla had to, needed to regain his energy as fast as possible, lest his throne and friends be harmed, and he knew there was only one way to do so, go against his friend's wishes and leave town.
As soon as he knew that everyone said their goodbyes and fell asleep, he left the Mystery Shack, somewhat in a weak state but still able to trudge his way around the town to his destination, the Gravity Falls Lake. Naturally an amphibian, Godzilla swiftly dove into the lake, able to swim almost flawlessly and even faster in the water than on land, poking his head above the water to look back at the town once more before diving underwater for his personal mission.
He knew that what he did would concern Dipper and his friends, he knew they wouldn't want or like this, and he didn't even know how long this would take. But he knew that he would come back, back to see the town and his friends and back at his full strength to properly rule his throne once more, though even then, he wasn't sure how long he could stay at Gravity Falls before leaving on his own one day. Godzilla knew one thing for certain though.
He would be back.
O-O-O
Yesterday was busy for the Mystery Shack crew, going from impressing gawking tourists with Kajiu to full blown Kajiu combat, nearly killing everyone and nearly killing Godzilla. Luckily, Stan used the large amounts of cash to repair any damage to the Shack but because of this, the rest of the G-Squad had the day off for the repairs. That wasn't really so bad if it weren't for two things.
Firstly, the G-squad actually went out looking around the shack for the missing tentacle limbs that Rodan had ripped off from the supposedly dead parasite while trying to save Dipper and Wendy, but had found no trace of them at all, so unfortunately it would not be the last of the Shinomura.
Secondly, Godzilla wasn't in the greatest shape after fighting the Shinomura. The parasites had drained large amounts of radioactive energy from him, and it didn't help that Godzilla was too stubborn to let anyone help him out if he needed anything, despite clearly looking fatigued.
"Godzilla?!" Exclaimed Dipper, walking around outside the Shack to see where his Kajiu had gone. "Where did you go, buddy?"
"Where DID he go?" Asked Mabel, trying to search for Godzilla with her brother. "A giant monster can't just disappear."
"This one just did." Responded Dipper, still surprised at Godzilla's sudden disappearance.
The Pine twins had just woken up earlier, expecting to get a surprise wakeup call from their Kajiu, but only Mothra was around to greet the twins, now fifty meters, while Godzilla was nowhere to be seen. While the twins searched around the Shack for Godzilla, Mothra went in the woods to see if Godzilla was hiding in there.
"I need to go to bed more early next time." Said Mabel, still somewhat tired as she rubbed her eyes.
"I don't understand. Why would he just leave?" Wondered Dipper, scratching his head oout of confusion.
"You just don't know monsters very well, Dipper. Maybe Godzilla left to do monster things?" Assumed Mabel.
"Monster things?"
The twins turned around to see Stan, along with the twin fairies on his shoulder, not looking too happy about Godzilla's sudden disappearance.
"Do monster things involve destroying cities?" Asked Stan directly, tapping his foot and giving the twins a mean glare.
"Uh… no?" Dipper sheepishly replied, giving off an awkward smile and making Stan sigh in response.
"You know what? I'm not mad at you two." Said Stan calmly, giving the twins some sort of relief. "If anything, it's that damn lizard-
"Dinosaur." Corrected Dipper.
"Whatever." Shrugged off Stan. "Point is, I should have expected that thing to leave eventually."
"But he'll come back, right?" Asked Mabel softly. "He wouldn't just leave us without saying anything."
Stan just sighed heavily and put his hands on each of the town's shoulders.
"Listen kids, you don't know what Godzilla is like after these few days, hell even I don't know him that well." Admitted Stan. "Godzilla just… does his own thing. Maybe he'll come back to stay for a little longer, but he'll still leave one day and never come back, and god knows what he'll do then."
The twins just looked down sadly until Dipper picked his head up. "But Stan… he's my friend."
Stan just rubbed his arm before replying. "Godzilla doesn't make friends."
Just then, Dipper cellphone began ringing as the twin brother took it out to see that it was Wendy calling, as he answered the phone as soon as possible.
"Hey Wendy. What's up?" Asked Dipper, putting on a happier tone for his rebound crush.
"Hey Dip? Meet me at the lake. Soos and I found something." Said Wendy in a more concerned tone.
"Is it Godzilla?" Asked Dipper, hoping if it was his Kajiu friend.
"No. Something else." Replied Wendy, now getting Dipper concerned at what Wendy could be talking about. "Soos should be there by now to pick you guys up. See you soon."
"Bye."
Dipper closed his phone and turned to see Soos's truck coming soon, then turned to Stan to see him pinch his fingers between his eyes.
"Stan. We got to go." Said Dipper, hoping his Grunkle would understand as Stan just waved his hand off.
"Go on then. If I can't stop Godzilla, how can I stop you kids?" Said Stan, as the twins nodded in response and went to Soos's truck, waving their Grunkle goodbye.
"We'll come back, Grunkle Stan! Promise!" Exclaimed Mabel to her Grunkle, getting in the truck with Soos as Stan waved them goodbye.
"Just don't get squished out there!" Replied Stan, making Mabel smile at the little quip before Soos drove off to head for the lake.
Stan just watched the truck drive off before the fairies on his shoulder spoke to him.
"You know, there is still someone who can help out here." Suggested the twin fairies.
It didn't take long for Stan to realize who they were talking about before responding.
"No, no, no. Absolutely not." Replied Stan. "There are many things you can convince me to do, but there's no way he's getting involved."
"He knows more than you, Stanford. You should-
"I'm not risking the little family I have left with these things." Said Stan firmly, referring to the Kajiu as he walked back into the Shack.
"I've already lost too many."
O-O-O
"Any sign of Godzilla?" Asked Dipper, hoping to get some kind of knowledge about his Kajiu's disappearance.
"We found some footprints leading to the lake, but nothing else." Replied Soos, as he drove towards the lake. "Nothing that's Godzilla at least."
"What are we dealing with? Giant bats? Giant piranhas?" Asked Mabel, squealing with glee at her next suggestion. "Giant kitties?"
"It's giant alright." Answered Soos vaguely, as he parked his truck close by the lake.
"Okay, what's with the vague answers? Is that supposed to be for dramatic effect?" Asked Dipper, annoyed at Soos's responses. "What did you guys find?"
"That."
Soos pointed to his left, as the twins were shocked to see what they were looking at, getting out of the truck to get a closer look.
The object in question was not a Kajiu, but a large egg instead, colored purple with yellow stripes and seemed to be as large as 50 meters, no bigger than Mothra herself. A large crowd of several citizens could be seen gathering around the egg, with commotion going all around as the Pine twins and Soos saw Wendy getting pushed away by two tall men in dark blue suits, making their way through the crowd while the red head was let go.
"No manners for a lady?" Quipped Wendy sarcastically, as the two men stayed silent and went back through the crowd.
"Wendy? What's going on here?" Asked Dipper, wondering why Wendy was suddenly pushed away by very familiar looking guards.
"Soos and I found this giant egg that washed up at the shore of the lake." Said Wendy, pointing back at the crowd behind her. "As you've noticed, people are interested."
"Interested enough to push you away?" Inquired Dipper, as Wendy sighed heavily.
"I tried to keep people away from the thing, but we're not the only ones interested in the egg." Said Wendy, signaling the rest of group to follow her into the crowd.
"Why don't you guys just get Rodan and Anguirus to take care of this?" Asked Dipper.
Soos then chuckled nervously. "Haha, yeah about that. Anguirus is like, really lazy so he's still sleeping at my backyard."
"And Rodan is just flying over there." Pointed Wendy at the lake, as Rodan could be seen diving into the lake briefly and managing to catch some fish. "He decided to go fishing instead of helping out."
Dipper just shook his head at the sight, while trying to bypass through the crowd of townspeople. The G-squad managed to get in front of the crowd and was greeted with a sight they didn't want to see.
Several men in blue suits surrounded the large egg, making sure to prevent people from getting close and keeping a long distance away from the crowd, as a sight for sore eyes in front could be seen, it was the entire Northwest family.
Standing in front of a placed microphone was Preston Northwest, wearing his usual expensive clothing alongside his wife, both facing the crowd with fake smiles to please them, while their daughter Pacifica, wearing her usual pricy attire, frowned at the crowd in front, as if she didn't want to be here doing this.
"Greeting, common rabble of this fair town!" Greeted Preston in his stuck up attitude. "I know what you're thinking, a giant egg washing ashore on our fair town? A strange occurrence, but we have it under control."
"HI PACIFICA!" Exclaimed Mabel to the blond, waving wildly at her to get her attention as Dipper waved as well but more calmly, while Pacifica just stared at the twins. "We should hang out after this, kay? And I forgive you about yesterday with our Kajiu!"
"Darling, don't fraternize with the locals. It ruins our image." Whispered Pacifica's mother to her daughter, as Pacifica rolled her eyes at her mother's response.
"Whatever image you want to live in." Whispered Pacifica back, as she ignored the Pine twins and stayed silent,
"Jeez, that was cold." Commented Wendy over Preston's speech, not really caring too much for pointless blubbering to suck up to the townspeople. "I thought you guys were friends?"
"We are." Said Mabel, as she elbowed her brother playfully and raised her eyebrow up and down. "But you guys were closer. Huh?"
"Oh… Oooooooooh." Realized Soos, as Dipper just blushed red.
"We had a thing, yeah. Not afraid to admit that." Said Dipper, trying not to choke up from embarrassment.
"Had a thing? Did you guys have a rough break up?" Asked Wendy, as Dipper just scratched his head.
"I uh, I didn't really say anything about that." Said Dipper stuttering. "When Mabel and I had to leave, w-we, I mean, I promised that I would… come back last summer."
Wendy just winced at hearing that answer, while Soos whistled surprisingly.
"Dude, that's not cool." Responded Soos, making Dipper go on the defensive.
"Hey, I didn't know my parents wanted to drag me to Hawaii for summer. We insisted, but they also insisted, and they're my parents." Argued Dipper.
"Don't make promises you can't keep." Said Wendy, siding with Soos. "That's like, relationships 101."
"That's why I said we'll come back soon. Vague answers are reliable answers." Said Mabel.
"No they're not Mabel, no they're not. And come on guys, I was twelve and-
Dipper looked back to Pacifica again, only to be greeted with a cold glare and sighed again.
"Can we just listen to this instead of talking about my relationship skills?" Pleaded Dipper, wanting to change the topic.
"I dunno, I'm starting to like relationship drama." Said Wendy, mocking Dipper as Mabel nodded.
"It is good for stories." Agreed Mabel.
"Ditto." Agreed Soos.
Dipper just looked down at the ground. "I hate you all."
As the speech finally ended, with the G-squad not really paying attention, the last statement Preston said caught the squad's full attention.
"That is why I, Preston Northwest, will claim this egg as Northwest property." Finished Northwest, as one of his bodyguards stamped on the egg with the label "Northwest" in red.
"Oh darling, it'll blend in so well with the backyard." Said Preston's wife, happy to claim the egg as their own.
"Of course it will, sweetheart. Anything that belongs to us will always look good." Agreed Preston, as he clapped his hands twice for his bodyguards to try to disperse the crowd away from the egg.
"YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" Shouted Dipper, as he and the rest of the G-squad ran up to the Northwests. "You can't just take that egg as your property!"
"Hmm, are you- You are!" Exclaimed Preston, chuckling at who he was talking to. "You're that little brat from two years ago. Dillon or something like that?"
"It's Dipper." Corrected the fourteen year old, as Preston began to chuckle.
"Ah yes, Dipper Pines. You made quite a mess in this town, trying to ruin our reputation and all." Said Preston, as Dipper just scoffed at the Northwest.
"A reputation for being big jerk faces? Yeah, he did" Defended his sister, as she turned to Pacifica and spoke more softly. "Except you Pacifica, you're the cool one."
Pacifica just crossed her arms together, not even bothering to look at the twins while Preston grinned.
"Don't even bother talking to my daughter. She knows better than to associate herself with your kind." Said Preston, angering Dipper when hear the phrase "your kind" again.
"Our kind? The kind that would leave giant eggs alone so they won't be taken away to be displayed for your amusement?" Said Dipper, shaking his head at Preston.
"Yes." Answered Preston. "This egg belongs to us now. I consider it fair since you have your own little beasts, so why not have my own?"
"And what if that egg hatches? Are you still gonna keep whatever's inside or call me to do your dirty work for you?" Asked Dipper, as he crossed his arms at Preston and gave a mean glare. "Maybe I should let it destroy your mansion first. I always wanted to see a Kajiu destroy a fancy building like that."
Preston just frowned at Dipper's smartass attitude, as he began to walk away from the G-squad with his wife. "I don't have any time or patience with this. I have more important rich things to do than chat with peasants."
The Northwest family began to walk away until Dipper managed to stop Pacifica, lightly grabbed her shoulder to make her turn around, as the blond faced Dipper with her still cold glare.
"Pacifica, you know better than me what your parents are like. Why aren't you doing anything about it?" Asked Dipper, as Pacifica shrugged off Dipper's hand from her shoulder. "We need your help Pacifica, and I know it's a lot to ask for after-
"After you and Mabel left me?" Interrupted Pacifica, raising her voice at Dipper and catching him off guard from her anger. "After you promised me that you'd come back to hang out with me all summer?"
"Pacifica, I-
"I waited for you all summer." Admitted Pacifica, as tears slowly formed in her eyes. "I thought that you would come back for me."
"I… I messed up." Admitted Dipper. "I know I messed up, but I can make up for it."
"Make up for it!?" Exclaimed Pacifica, making Dipper jump back while everyone failed to notice the large egg slightly move. "Can you make up for two years of waiting? Two years of being forced to conform to your parent's every command? Two years of expecting the only people who care about you to break their promise!?"
"I-
"Shut up!" Shouted Pacifica, with clear anger and sadness in her voice, as the large egg began to move even more. "I don't want to hear your excuses!"
Dipper just stayed silent, while Mabel decided to intervene to try to make sense of this situation.
"Dipper didn't mean to not come last summer, it wasn't our choice." Argued Mabel, trying to defend her brother. "We have parents too, Pacifica. It's not like we could have just ran away here."
"You could've at least tried if you cared!" Argued back Pacifica, as the large egg began moving ever so erratically now, which Soos and Wendy started to notice and had concerned looks on their faces. "I thought that you out of all people cared about everyone and everything, but I guess that was just a mask too."
Mabel felt hurt by that statement, and spoke more softly in response. "I didn't mean to-
"You think you're some kind of saint because you act all adorable and crap, but all you are is a pretender. You just act cute because you're hideous on the inside." Said Pacifica with venom, something Mabel had not heard from Pacifica since their rivalry.
Mabel began to cry now, hurt by Pacifica's statement as Dipper put an arm around her to comfort his sister, giving Pacifica an equally venomous look while the egg kept moving around, as if it was close to hatching because of the argument at hand, while Soos and Wendy tried to get the twin's attention.
"Guys?"
"Not now, Soos." Whispered Dipper loudly, as Pacifica turned back to Dipper again.
"And you. I liked you the most, Dipper." Said Pacifica softly, as a tear rolled down her cheek. "I really, really liked you."
"Pacifica, we were twelve when this, us happened." Argued Dipper. "And I… damn."
"What?" Inquired Pacifica, as Dipper regretted his choice of words he didn't think through. "What does damn mean?"
"I… I promised you I'd come back because I, was afraid to ask to… break up instead." Admitted Dipper, making Pacifica groan in fury, Soos started to step away from the egg, now seeing that the egg was starting to crack slightly.
"Dude. We need. To go. Now." Said Wendy to Dipper, practically pulling her hair out but was ignored.
"Break up? Why didn't you just say that two years ago!?" Shouted Pacifica, now furious as Dipper shrunk down from the anger. "You chose to leave me like this instead to telling me the truth?!"
"I didn't know what to do!" Argued Dipper. "We were twelve for God's sake. And I, I didn't know how to tell you that I-
"Didn't love me anymore?" Interrupted Pacifica, as she just shook her head, in tears while the large egg started to hatch now.
"Pacifica, I-
"I HATE YOU!"
Those last words, filled with rage and venom, were just enough to get the bickering former couple silent to hear loud crack coming from the egg. Everyone then started to walk back, not willing to be close to whatever was inside the egg, as it began to rumble and crack now more than ever. Pieces of the egg shell were now coming off, as something above the egg was coming out, which appeared to be a large yellow horn breaking through the top.
"Rodan!" Exclaimed Wendy, calling out to Rodan still busy fishing, noticing the large egg from the beach of the lake hatching while about to dive for more fish, and decided to change course to the egg when he saw Wendy waving her arms in the air for him.
But it was too late for Rodan to stop the egg from hatching, with one final push, the egg shell completely broke off from the top, giving whatever Kajiu inside the chance to break free, and causing the townsfolk to step back and freeze in shock at what they saw.
The Kajiu appeared to be some kind of large larva creature similar to Mothra, not only having a large yellow horn on its head, but also having black skin mixed with yellow and a dark red underside, it had two large tusks on each cheek, with large powerful legs that were yellow and horn like, it looked as if it were some demented evil form of Mothra. The Kajiu looked around its new environment, glaring at everything with its red eyes until it stopped to see Pacifica staring right at it in fear and shock, and crawled out of the empty egg to get a closer look at Pacifica. The blond girl tripped back from the giant larva approaching it, unable to move from the fear of getting killed by the Kajiu from sudden moves while Dipper and Mabel tried to pull Pacifica back.
"Pacifica! We have to go. Now!" Exclaimed Dipper, helping Pacifica up from the ground.
"SKWAAAAAARK!"
A deafening roar emanated from the large larva, which sounded very similar to Rodan's and Mothra's if they were more deep pitched, as if the Kajiu was getting angry at Dipper for trying to make Pacifica leave. The blond girl would have listen to Dipper to run from a giant larva despite their relationship, but for some strange reason, she didn't want to run from the giant larva, and actually shrugged off Dipper yet again to approach the Kajiu in front.
"Pacifica? You know that's a giant evil caterpillar, right?" Asked Mabel, confused at why Pacifica ignored the twin's request to leave.
Pacifica was now at arm's reach of the Kajiu, and even decided to hold her hand out and actually touch the Kajiu and pet the fifty meter larva, which actually allowed the human's hand to touch it and feel it's rough hide, instantly making Pacifica's panic disappear while everyone else, even Preston, stare in shock and awe at the scene before them, making Wendy realize that Rodan was close now and didn't look too happy with what he was seeing, as he prepared to swoop down on the new larva for his attack.
"Rodan! Stop!" Shouted Wendy, hoping to stop Rodan to prevent a big misunderstanding occurring from the Pternadon's overprotective nature.
But Rodan had already made his decision.
