Blossom flipped the page in her textbook, going on to the next problem of her chemistry assignment. She was trying hard to concentrate, but the girls in the neighboring dorm were having a party.

I'm going over, do you wanna come with? her roommate had asked.

No, thanks. I have a ton of work. She could practically hear her roommate's eyes roll as she left without another word. Blossom didn't mind. She like being alone anyway. It was better than being surrounded by a ton of people she didn't know. She hardly even liked having a roommate.

You should at least give having a roommate a shot the Professor suggested. If you don't like it, we'll switch you to a single dorm for the Spring semester. But just try it out.

Yeah, you get along with us just fine! Bubbles added. Buttercup only grunted, but Blossom could tell she agreed with the majority consensus.

So now here she was. It wasn't too awful, but it also wasn't ideal. It was nearly impossible to relax with a sort-of stranger in the same room as her. Not that Blossom couldn't adapt. She was very capable of adapting, actually. It was just that she didn't want to. Call it rebellion, maybe. The phase had to happen eventually.

The sudden pounding on the wall wasn't far off beat with the pounding in Blossom's head. Sometimes she wondered how different her nights would be if she just decided to join the "fun". Maybe she wouldn't feel so alone. Maybe she wouldn't feel like such an outcast. She scoffed to thought of being an outcast for studying in college had never occurred to her. It was especially odd, considering how steep the tuition was here.

But maybe she could branch out. Her mind went to the boy she always saw going next door. Sometimes he would catch her eye and smirk before disappearing in the confusion. Maybe she could disappear with him. Maybe she could find out what it's like to not remember anything the next morning.

A burst of laughter followed by more banging shook Blossom from her concentration and she sighed again. No, she decided. She looked back at her textbook and continued on with her assignment.

***This is a re-post of an older story I wrote during my first year at university. I'm uploading this as a sort of "I'm back" but we all know I'm probably not back. xoxo-Kelsilynne***
