Afterword

This fanfic was written in the spirit of NisioIsin-sensei, but not the law. I do not profess myself to be enough of a fan to rewatch the entire Monogatari series several times. As a result, should any discrepancies appear between The Canon & the nonsense story that I have written, I feel as though it matters not to me – because a fiction is a fiction all the same. Kindly imagine my work as a work that takes place in a parallel universe, with characters bearing similar names to the character you know and love – but being very very different. I also understand that NisioIsin-sensei has his own take on Nadeko after her Medusa arc, and that story has not been translated yet.

This fanfic was written in a gonzo style with little planning or reason. In a way, it was an attempt to match the production process of Zaregoto Volume 2 – which I heard was written in only 3 days. I've only managed to pull off 19k+ words – and so I am way below the creative magnitudes of the master himself. I also chose to write the story in a kind of 'free third-person style' – and my own writing quirks have seeped into the fanfic. For one, I am not that content with how Kaiki's voice turned out – but I am very content with the scene where Kanbaru appeared, because it gave me to opportunity to be extremely crass and childish.

The random bits of folklore was taken from a research paper by Alfonso Falero "Origuchi Shinobu's Marebitoron in Global Perspective" – I skimmed through it and modified (Dan Browned) the information to fit my story. Somewhere along the way, Heidegger got mixed up into the plot – because I was reading Graham Harman's Heidegger Explained at the same time.

In the end, this is how you should approach the work. Treat it as a bit of nonsense with no rhyme or reason, and take nothing within it as truth. Hopefully, my 19k+ words have provided a bit of entertainment to your life. If it has changed it in any way – I deeply apologize – and I suggest that you should visit a psychiatrist as fast as possible, to help cleanse the detritus from the insides of your brain.
