You Can't Push Me Around

"I thought they sent you home?" Ryan asked Calleigh as she walked into the lab where he was going over the evidence from her car, that just hours ago was underwater.

"They did," she responded, glancing up at him to meet Ryan's death glare.

"You almost died Calleigh. You were ran off the road and you almost drowned."

"Ryan, I…"

"I was talking to you on the phone one minute and then nothing. I ran to tell H, he left to find you, and I had to stay here and wait to hear whether you were alive or not. Do you know what that feels like?"

"What feels like? Worrying about a friend? Give me break Ryan, you're being a little over dramatic about this."

"Over dramatic, Calleigh? Are you freakin' kidding me?" Ryan's voice was getting louder as he was getting more frustrated. He rounded the table to stand in front of Calleigh, with her back now against the edge of the lab table. He had invaded her personal space and she didn't allow anyone to ever get that close to her, but Ryan's scent overcame her, he was intoxicating, and those eyes were staring her down.

'He really does care about me, doesn't he? I'm not used to this. What do I do?' Calleigh was a tough, strong woman and she would not let this man dominate her, so she took a step forward, meeting him face to face. But he wouldn't back down either, he learned that from Calleigh. He stood his ground. In fact, he pushed even farther, placing his hands on the table on each side of her, effectively boxing her in, trapping her. No one traps Calleigh, especially a man.

"Ryan, you need to step back," Calleigh ordered him.

"No."

"What?"

"No…You know, you're this strong, powerful, independent woman, but you just can't let anyone crack that hardcore shell of yours, huh?"

"You know nothing about me," Calleigh more so spat at Ryan, but still did not attempt to move. She wanted to say more, talk back, push him away, but the words wouldn't come.

'Who does he think he is?' Calleigh tried to focus as Ryan's hot breath hit her lips. 'Is he gonna kiss me in the middle of the lab? Am I gonna let him?'

"You're kind, determined…" he continued with the compliments, getting impossibly closer to her lips. 'She's not moving away,' Ryan thought. 'Does she want me to kiss her? Will she shoot me if I do?' "…caring, passionate, but clueless in realizing how much other people do care about you."

With that, Ryan closed the space between them and kissed her…and she accepted. He was going to pull back to gauge her reaction, but he didn't want to give her the chance to run. So he ever so slowing brought his hands off the table to rest on her waist, as she lost control of her own hands and wrapped her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. They were making out in the middle of the lab and anyone could walk in and catch them, but for once, Calleigh didn't care. She wanted this, she needed this. But eventually they needed to stop to catch their breath, so he was the first to pull back.

Calleigh surprised him by smiling and saying, "And don't forget…beautiful." Ryan couldn't help but laugh at this incredible woman before him.

"Of course," he said, leaning down to kiss her again, when his cell phone went off. Resting their foreheads together, he answered his phone. Calleigh stood there, still in shock and still tasting Ryan on her lips. After only talking for a few seconds, Ryan hung up, gave Calleigh a quick kiss and pushed himself up to leave.

"We'll finish this later," Ryan said as he walked toward the door.

"Oh, and Calleigh, I'm glad you're ok."

"Thanks babe."
