A Glass Pool of Love

One small drop of water fell onto the ocean and reverberated throughout it, first turning into ripples and then waves. The waves eventually settled and calmed returning to their normal state. This was how Hitsugaya felt as he looked into Rukia's violet eyes. When someone, like Matsumoto, just had to tick him off, he couldn't control his anger, but once Hitsugaya looked into her eyes everything went smooth. They pierced through his body, pulling him into a trance when they more than often met his, looking deep into his soul. Her raven hair always brushing past his cheek making his spine tingle with joy. Her small figure made it easy for Hitsugaya to fall in love with her and once she realized his feelings it wasn't long before they found themselves snuggling in bed like there was no tomorrow.

Hitsugaya kissed her for a long time while she pushed back trying to claim him as her own. She slid on top of him and wrapped her arms around his neck, her smile playing tricks on his neck, as he gave up and let her have him. She gave him what he paid for and rubbed his chest longingly waiting for him to get up again. When this was all over they departed until the next day.

Hitsugaya sat at his desk doing his paperwork as he did everyday, but a bit quicker. He sped up the pace because he had promised to meet Rukia once all of his (and Matsumoto's) paperwork was done.

Someone walked into the still room and sat on Hitsugaya's desk.

"Toushirou," said a strong, yet wavered voice from where he could not see. But even so, he knew that voice and found no need to look up.

"Yes?"

"Byakuya died."

"How in the world did that happen?" Hitsugaya looked up at Rukia who looked down at the desk tracing small shapes in the dust. Hitsugaya walked around his desk and placed his arm around Rukia bringing her closer to his warm body and kissed her lightly on the cheek. "Don't worry, it'll be alright," he said. "Byakuya will probably be reborn in a happier body or something." He drew small circles along her back as she leaned on his shoulder. They walked out of his office and through Seireitei. Hitsugaya took her to a place that Matsumoto usually went to when she got her hangovers called Yudemen (boiled noodles) and ordered lunch for two. Once they had gotten their food Hitsugaya asked, "How do you feel?"

"It's- I'm- Well, I can't explain it. It hurts, but not enough to cry, like he didn't mean that much to me."

Hitsugaya nodded and added, "I can let go of doing the rest of the paperwork and stay with you, if that's alright." Rukia nodded as they both got up and left since their plates were empty. They walked through Seireitei talking about what it would be like to die and what the other one would do if one of them died. It took Rukia's mind off of Byakuya as she could now think only of Hitsugaya's voice. They reached the Seireitei Lake. It shimmered in the moonlight and made the slightest movement in the water that made it look so beautiful, especially at night. Hitsugaya sat close that the bank and beckoned for Rukia to come by patting the soft grass beside him. She went and sat down beside him pulling her knees up to her head. Slow, small tears clouded her sparkling violet eyes and made her look more than she was in the moonlight. Hitsugaya looked at her and couldn't help blushing for loving such a wonderful person like her. He scooted closer to her, so close that he could feel her hair, once again, brushing past his cheeks by the ever-blowing wind. She leaned onto his shoulder and her tears poured onto his shirt.

This was all that Hitsugaya needed. Someone that could look up to him and depend on him to make them happy. All Hitsugaya wanted was someone to lean on his shoulder.
