In the first part of the story Chad is all stressed because Troy is giving all his time to Gabriella and he's not spending as much time with him and the rest of the guys on the team so when he sees the sign up sheet for the Battle of the Bands He asks Troy if he wants to do it. Troy agrees.
Then Sharpay wants to sign up and tells her friends that they are going to make an all girls group leaving Ryan in the dust along with Gabi. To take her mind off of Troy, Gabi is doing a peering tutoring. She finds out she's tutoring Ryan.
Sharpay wants a four girl band but only has three she goes to the choir where she asks the teacher if she suggests someone and she said Taylor McKessie so Sharpay goes to find Taylor she agrees and suggests Gabi but Sharpay says no.
Later Troy, Chad, Zeke, and Jason are fighting and Gabi come so she suggests a choreographer like Ryan so they asks him he says ok but he is also helping Sharpay who is by the getting annoyed with Taylor's smartness and her super strong voice that overpowers Sharpay but tries to keep it down.
Mean while Ms. Darbus is getting Gabi into the show with Ryan they can sing together which is pretty weird but they are happy that they are going to be in the show.
While Sharpay and Troy are getting more and more competitive.
In the end Gabi and Ryan end up winning and Troy and Gabi spend more time with each other while Sharpay is amazed that Ryan won but congratulates him ands is happy for him and becomes friend with Gabi and Taylor who got a stand ovation for overpowering Sharpays voice as for the guys they got used to Gabi but they didn't win anything.
