His strong arms wrapped around her, crushing her flailing arms. She could hear him panting as he held her down.
"Don't scream or I'll kill you," he growled, holding the cold gun against her temple.
She whimpered as the man's sweaty hands covered her mouth.
Lilly cried as her attacker threw her down on the cold wooden floor. She slowly sat up shaking, and looked into the face of the dark figure as it came into the light.
It was Scotty Valens.
----
Lilly sat up in bed, gasping for air. Sweat trickled down her forehead as her eyes adjusted to the dark room.
Thank god it was only a dream, she thought as she realised that she was in her own bedroom.
A cold draught fluttered the flowery curtains of the window in her 9th story apartment. She swung her feet out of bed and rested them gently on the floorboards, which had grown cold from the night.
She squinted her eyes and read the time on her bedside clock, which was ticking away at the same steady pace it always had. It was only 3:45 am.
Lilly yawned as she slipped her feet into her slippers and pulled on her woollen cardigan, which hung from the bedpost.
She walked to the kitchen, turned on the jug and leaned against the bench. She remembered her dream. It had seemed so real. Especially when she looked into the face of the stranger, who had not turned out to be a stranger but in fact one of her colleagues but more importantly one of her very best friends, Scotty Valens.
She would never forget those dark eyes, which had bore into hers in that lowly lit room.
Lily got up as the jug beeped and made herself a cup of tea.
No milk, no sugar, just like she always had it.
She took a sip. The warm liquid flowed down her throat and into her stomach, warming her shivering body.
Lily sipped the tea again and again until all that was left was a pile of soggy tea leaves at the bottom of the mug. She put the cup in the sink and walked back to her bedroom.
It was 4:10 am. Only another two hours until she had to get up and get ready for work. She slipped herself back into bed and lay there for a while until her eyelids grew heavy and she drifted back to sleep.
