Prologue: The Demonic Gunman
The wind was harsh and the sand was blowing around me. I could barely keep my eyes open. As I stood overlooking the city of Midgar I couldn't help but think of the day I last saw him…
"Get up we have to move!" My eyes came into focus as I heard those words echo into my head. We were attacking a new company called Shora. They were attempting to use the Life Stream to summon a great demon into the world. My companion and I ran quickly down a narrow hallway towards the missile turret that had knocked me unconscious temporarily, of course, my ally was strong enough to take care of the lower class soldiers and defend me from the missiles while I was out. We ran as quick as we could getting closer and closer with every step when we finally got up close bother of use pulled out our guns and fired into the core of the machine. I turned to my left and yelled to him "We have to hurry before the Life Stream is successfully extracted from the core!"
We worked our way through the small outpost that had been designed to do exactly what we thought it did, extract Life Stream. The lesser soldiers were almost nothing compared to our skills in the sword and the gun. Once we made it to the doors that led to the main engine room we both reached for our strongest Materia, Knights of the Round. We equipped them to our gloves and unleashed our most powerful summon. The room was destroyed almost instantly. As we fled the base as quick as we could and when we were finally outside we stood and watched the Life Stream spout from the earth in attempt to heal its wounds.
We began to walk away slowly when a large creature emerged from the Life Stream. My ally turned to me "We have to stop it…" I pulled out my gun and charged it bullets with the power of "Demi" and fired into the creature they were easily absorbed and it continued towards us. I turned to him "How do we kill it?" he took off his sunglasses and looked me in the eyes. "Super Nova…" He pointed upwards. I turned and looked and noticed the large meteor, hurling, straight towards the earth faster than it ever had. He reached into his pocket and pulled out something straight from the past, the black Materia.
He placed the black Materia in his Materia slot and ran as fast as he could towards the creature. When he came in contact he lifted himself into the air using his most powerful technique and began to fly towards the large meteor. The creature was letting out some kind of strange scream it may have been a reaction from the Materia or the fact that it was leaving the earth. Whatever it was when he collided with Super Nova The Creature, Super Nova, and him all vanished…
I came back to the real world and noticed the winds picking up. I reached down and unsheathed my gun and looked at the side. I brushed some of the dust off and on the side etched into it was a large capital "V" and beside it a Materia slot.
I made my way back to the airship that had been waiting for me. I climbed the ladder and entered the cockpit.
"Cid, lets head back to Nimbleheim" I spoke quietly.
"Alright." He said to me "But, you know you won't find any answered there. Lucretia might know more."
"Cid, I want to go to Nimbleheim…"
