Captain Kathryn Janeway stood in the archway of holo-deck two on deck six of the USS Voyager in a period gown from earth's 19th century. Her hair was coiled tightly into a magnificent plaited bun and her cheeks were roughed ever so lightly with a rose color. As Commander Chakotay approached her he couldn't help but wonder to himself if the computer had done that when dressing her for her role in the holo-novel or she had bothered to apply it herself, either way as her found himself standing behind her watching her exit the holo-deck and glide down the passageway. He felt at a loss for words. That was until some instinctual sense had forced a "Captain…" past his lips.

She turned, already magnificent in all of her flowing layers and perfectly placed details, and smiled at him. It was a warm genuine smile and it made his chest tighten. Even dressed so feminine she was absolutely in command of her every graceful step toward him.

"Yes, commander did you need something?" she said.

Need. He thought, now that was a familiar sensation to him, especially being so far away from the quadrant he knew, the people that he loved. He needed to take her and press her against him, to find out if she was as hard as she really seemed to be, and if not crush himself into that softness, and loose himself in the sight and scent of her. Instead he held up a crew manifest and handed it to her.

"These are the duty shift changes you requested." He said, numbly.

"Great, I'll take a look at this in the morning. I was just on my way to the mess hall for something to eat, would you care to join me? I heard Neelix was making something quite special tonight"

"I think everything Neelix makes quite special, Captain." He replied "But, no unfortunately I have many things to attend to before my own shift ends, I'll take a raincheck?"

She smiled and bowed her head slightly.

"Of course Commander I wouldn't dream of keeping you." She touched him lightly on the shoulder and turned away to continue on her path towards the turbolift.

He was surprised when he whispered: "That's the problem…"

The End(?)
