A/N Hello Fellow Members and Visitors alike! This is 9tailsfox2 with Chapter 5 to Memories of the Past. I would have posted this yesterday, but unfortunately I lost internet as of Thursday, and won't be getting internet till Wednesday, so not writing anything till then, just using the school's internet right now. Anyways I hope you all enjoy this! Italics means thoughts, and of course the note.

WARNING: Tearjerker

The entire trip home, Naruto could get Mitsu out of his mind. Dammit! She is not Hanabi… besides, you are 24 years old! Hanabi is dead! You have more things to worry about than a 12-year-old girl! Fuck! What is wrong with me!? Why am I getting like this? I should worry about looking father in the face again. Naruto looked up as he prepared to face Hiashi.

Hinata scowled when she saw Naruto enter the door. "What are you doing here?"

Naruto looked up and saw the anger on Hinata's face. "I'm sorry, I'll be heading to my room now… I don't wish to be bothered…"

Hinata was about force Naruto against the wall then saw the regret and guilt on his face. "Fine, but I don't want to see your face again!"

Naruto sadly sighed as he made his way to his room and sat down to look at his note. I'm almost done with this note. Mitsu… Ok Naruto, concentrate, just finish this note, give it to Neji, kill the fucker and kill yourself like you originally planned! Won't Mitsu be upset though? UGH! Fucking brain! If I keep thinking about the girl like this, I'm going to go insane!

Naruto just stared at the note and dived right into finishing it, to distract him from the battle of will within his head, the battle of right and wrong. Naruto knew that he will eventually lose out, all he needs to do is hold onto his moral compass for just one week, kill he fucker and kill himself and that's it, it's all going to be over! N Mitsu to distract him! Easier said than done though…

I punched my father in the face today during one of my outbursts. I know I should never have done that, father, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. Though he did kind of deserve it. You see, I finally discovered that my parents were Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. I'm glad that my parents are good people and not some murderous asshole that killed thousands. This very secret was hidden by the council themselves, in which father was during the time. So there was a reason for aggression, but unnecessary so I'll say it again, I'm sorry. Anyways back to the story. There is one more important event in which I wish to tell you all. Well here we go…

For weeks Naruto was depressed. No matter what anybody tried, he couldn't be cheered up. It was then Hiashi started suspecting something might have been going on between the two for Naruto to be so depressed. Hiashi entered Naruto's room and sat down right next to him. "Naruto."

Naruto looked up at Hiashi. "What is it you want father?" Naruto could not shake off the hurt in his chest, no matter how hard he tried. He just loved Hanabi way too much.

Hiashi sighed as he rubbed Naruto's back. "Naruto, I know you are still upset, but how much did you care for my daughter? I mean, you keep talking in your sleep about how much you cared for her. I want to hear it from you, how much did you care for Hanabi, how much did you love her?"

Naruto's tears cascaded as he curled up. "A lot. I mean we loved each other. We kept the relationship a secret from you… You know that time we went to the zoo and the lion escaped?"

Hiashi nodded. "Yeah I do."

Naruto shuddered. "You don't know how scared I was for her life, you don't know how I felt after almost seeing her mauled by that Lion…

16-year-old Naruto and 11-year-old Hanabi smiled as Hiashi was letting them wonder the Zoo by themselves. Hiashi had a stern look about him. "I want you two to stay together and don't let lose each other. Hold hands if you have to. I would hate to have lost one of you. Naruto, Hanabi, if anything happens, call your mom or me. Same to you Neji and Hinata! Oh yeah, have fun!"

Naruto nodded. "We will!"

Hanabi laughed as she grabbed Naruto's hand. "I know where we should go first!"

Naruto smiled as he followed her to the Elephant Riding. Hanabi laughed as the elephant began walking. "Enjoying yourself Hanabi?"

Hanabi looked up to Naruto and smiled. "Because you're here with me!"

Naruto smiled as he held onto Hanabi, making sure that she would not fall off, at least that's what everybody thought. Naruto whispered into her ear as he rested his chin on her head. "I love you so much Hanabi."

Hanabi smiled as she took in the warmth of his arms. "I love you too."

With the Elephant Ride over, it was Naruto's turn to pick the next thing they should do and decided the Horse Riding. Hanabi was amazed at how fast the horse was going and loved the feeling of her stomach dropping when the horse jumped over a fence. Naruto was really happy when he saw the look of joy on Hanabi's face. "Naruto, when did you learn how to ride a horse?"

Naruto sighed. "Well on the days I wasn't in school, I would always wonder in the outskirts of the city. There, I would find wild horses. Well I did not have anything else to do, so I taught myself how to ride a horse."

Hanabi shook her head. "I'm sorry."

Naruto only smiled. "It's alright. Good definitely came out of it. You're happy!"

Hanabi smiled in response. "Thank you Naruto." They took that moment of privacy to kiss. "I love you so much."

Naruto smiled as he embraced her. "I love so much too."

The two then decided to return and proceeded to have some lunch, as they were hungry.

Hanabi's eyes widened at the feeding pen. "Can we feed them? Please!?"

Naruto chuckled at the enthusiasm coming from Hanabi. "After you finish your fries."

Hanabi grinned as she quickly finished her food. "Done!"

Naruto shook his head. "I'm not even finished yet."

Hanabi pouted. "But you said after I finished my food!"

Naruto grinned and ruffled her hair. "I didn't say when after and look so cute when you make that face."

Hanabi blushed. "But you only have a bite of that burger left, and… tee hee! Thank you."

Naruto finished his food. "Alright let's go!"

Hanabi jumped in the air in excitement. "Yay!"

Naruto nodded as they headed to the feeding pen. Hanabi put a quarter in and took the food that came out and put her hand up to the goat, and he licked up the food.

Hanabi could keep herself from laughing. "Oh! That tickles! Haha!"

Hanabi then proceeded to pet the head of the goat. Hanabi smiled at that. "Ooohhh his fur, it feels so weird."

Naruto chuckled at the happiness of his girlfriend. "Hanabi, would you like to do anything else?"

Hanabi nodded. "Yeah! A bathroom break!"

Naruto led Hanabi to the nearest bathroom. "If you are out before me, please wait here on the bench for me? Don't go with anyone else, got it? If anything happens don't hesitate to use your phone, yell for me or run in here if you have to got it?"

Hanabi only giggled. "I love you too. Don't worry I'll be safe."

When Naruto exit the bathroom, he saw Hanabi waiting there, waiting for him. "See? I told you!"

Naruto laughed. "I just get worried about you."

Naruto then decided he wanted to see the lions tigers and bears, oh my! (Wizard of Oz bitches!)

Hanabi started fidgeting and Naruto looked concerned. "Is something wrong Hanabi?"

Hanabi looked worriedly at Naruto. "You know the feeling you get when you know when something bad is going to happen?"

Naruto tightened his hold on her hand. "Yeah, mine aren't that accurate though."

Hanabi shook her head. "Mine are, and I'm getting it bad right now… I'm scared."

Naruto put his arm around Hanabi's shoulder. "It's alright, I'll protect you."

Hanabi smiled at Naruto. "I know you will…"

All of a sudden somebody ran into Naruto and Hanabi, which caused them to separate from each other and then everyone was running and screaming. It took a few seconds for Naruto to regain his senses and realized that Hanabi was not with him anymore. Damn it! What the hell is happening!? Where is Hanabi!? "Hanabi!? Hanabi!? Where are you!?"

Naruto whipped his head around as he could not find her. It was then he noticed the reason why everyone was running. One of the lions has escaped from its cage. It was just standing there, staring at the crowd as it was trying to pick out its meal. All of a sudden Naruto knew it found it as the Lion reared up as if he was about to pounce and began charging.

Naruto then followed the path the lion was charging with his eyes and noticed whom it was charging at.

Hanabi was scared as she was separated from Naruto and there was just chaos everywhere. "Naruto! Where are you!?" Hanabi began crying and then she noticed the lion and froze up as the lion locked eyes with her. The next thing she knew the lion began charging and knew that it was coming after her. She knew running was useless, it would catch up and devour her. No… please, Kami, I don't want to die! No! Hanabi could not contain her tears as she realized that this was the end.

When Naruto noticed the lion was charging Hanabi Naruto hadn't felt more scared in his life than now. With the realization that his girlfriend's death a real probable event that was about to happen, he felt his heart freeze or rather disappear completely. All that was left was pure fear and anguish with the thought of Hanabi being dead. Naruto moved as fast as he can but still felt like he was moving really slowly. "HHAAANNAAABIII!"

Naruto noticed the Zookeepers take aim with their tranquilizer guns. Naruto knew it would be useless with a round in the beast that was about to tear Hanabi apart. No! I'm not going to make it! They fired and all the darts hit their mark as it slowed down just in the nick time for Naruto to tackle Hanabi right out of the way of the collapsing lion.

Hanabi instantly began crying into the chest of Naruto. "I was so scared. Oh Kami I thought I was about to die and worst of all, I could not see you!"

Naruto rocked Hanabi back and forth as he was stroking her back. "I was scared as well, when I could not see you through the crowd, I was panicking then when I saw the lion charging at you, I was never so scared in my life. I realize now that my worst fear is your death. I love you so much."

Naruto then held Hanabi tightly as she continued sobbing. "I love you too. I would hate to be separated from you because one of had died!"

Hiashi, Hitomi, Hinata and Neji then ran to the two seconds later.

Hiashi put the two in a hug. "Are you two alright?"

Hanabi wiped away her tears and nodded. "Yeah we are, just a little shaken up."

Hiashi then hugged Naruto. "I really didn't know about your relationship together… why didn't you tell me?"

Naruto chuckled. "What would you have done if I did?"

Hiashi chuckled as well. "Initially… I probably would have kicked your ass and grounded both of you for a quite a while and possibly have separated you two, maybe even get a new tutor. When I would have realized that would be a stupid mistake, I would then have finally approved the relationship."

Naruto nodded and sadly smiled. "Yeah that is as much I guessed. I just wish things would have turned out different."

Hiashi nodded at that statement. "Me too. Oh Kami I miss her so much."

For seven long years I learned how to operate, well almost seven. It would be seven years as of the day that bastard gets out next week, or Hanabi's 19th birthday, if she was still alive… That will be the day I shall kill him and then myself. For now, I'm going to enjoy whatever is left of my life. To everyone I leave behind, I'm sorry, but as the day approaches, I feel more and more miserable. For some reason this year, I'm feeling particularly worse than ever. I can't handle it… Well, this is goodbye…

Naruto looked at his completed suicide note and sighed as he put it away. Naruto quietly thought back to when they arrived home that day.

Hitomi looked worriedly at her younger daughter as they entered the house, who was clinging desperately onto Naruto for comfort. She was like that the whole time, Naruto of course held her through the whole ride. "Honey, that lion is not going to hurt you anymore there's no need to be scared."

Hanabi shook her head as she dug her face into Naruto's shirt "I know that. I just can't get it out of my head… the lion I knew it was trying to maul me, eat me. I knew it was going to be painful, I knew I was going to die." Hanabi cried even more than she did in the car.

Naruto sadly looked at Hanabi, whom he was holding tightly. Poor thing, she's shaking. Naruto put his chin on Hanabi's head and rocked her back and forth as he robbed her back. "Everything's going to be ok Hanabi. I'll protect you with my life if anything does happen, like I did earlier today."

Hanabi sniffled. As she lifted her head, "Thank you Naruto."

Naruto smiled as he rubbed her head. "No problem Hanabi."

Hitomi smiled at the two as Neji and Hinata decided to leave as they felt that they should leave them alone while Hiashi began gathering ingredients for dinner. "Honey, I know you had a frightening day so we are deciding to make your favorite meal."

Hanabi's face brightened up at what her mother said. "You mean?"

Hitomi. "I know how you complain about not having enough, so we are going to make three times the amount of pasta with Secret Sauce, but make sure you keep some room for some Banana Split, as we'll be making that as well. Oh yeah, I'll send Neji to get some fresh milk as we're out of that and I know how much you like milk.

Hanabi laughed as she hugged her mother. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I love you so much!"

Hitomi smiled at her daughter's happiness as Hiashi pat her head. "Hey what about me? I'm the one preparing the dinner!"

Hanabi smiled at that. "Preparing! Not making! But I love you too! I love Neji, now that he is not mean anymore and of course Hinata! Let's not forget about Naruto!" (They think she means she loves him as a brother, but in reality…)

Naruto scratched the back of his head and smiled. "I love you too Hanabi."

Hiashi smiled at the two. "Why don't you two go take a bath and get changed into your pajamas? We're going to watch 'The Adventures of Princess Fuun' while we're eating dessert."

Hanabi got even happier at that. "That's my favorite movie! It's so cool! It has everything! Action! Adventure! Even romance!" Hanabi 'swooned' at romance and fell until Naruto caught her.

Naruto saw the look in Hanabi's eyes as he brought her back to her feet and laughed. "Well don't do that again, you're lucky I was here to catch you. Well I'll take my shower first or you could go first if you want."

Hanabi smiled. "You can go first."

Naruto nodded. "Thank you Hanabi."

After Naruto and Hanabi took their showers, Hanabi of course go dressed into her favorite pajamas, just to make the evening even better, and of course had Naruto go back to the dining room with her, where they sat next to each other.

They did not have to wait long as three pounds of pasta was put onto the table and with the whole family present, they began eating, while everyone took only one plate, Naruto took two plates of food and Hanabi took three. Everyone had a nice time eating and talking with each other. By the end of dinner, only a pound of pasta remained, which was packed up into the fridge.

It was movie time as Hanabi decided to snuggle up to Naruto with a blanket around them and luckily no one suspected anything.

Hanabi's favorite dessert then came out as the movie was popped in.

Towards the end of the movie Naruto looked at Hanabi's excited face for what must have been the hundredth time and smiled as he held her. Hanabi eyes then glimmered as rainbow chakra was used to defeat the evildoers.

Hanabi then yawned when the credits rolled by. "Mommy, daddy, is it ok if Naruto sleeps with me tonight? I'm still a little shaken over what happened…"

Hitomi and Hiashi looked at each other and shrugged. "Sure, you can, if Naruto is not bothered by it."

Naruto shook his head and laughed. "How could I say no to that face?"

Everyone looked at Hanabi, who was doing her puppy eyes, and smiled at that.

It was then time for bed, Naruto and Hanabi went up to their rooms. Naruto scratched his head, so who's room are we sleeping in?"

Hanabi's face beamed, "My room!"

Naruto had no objections to that as they crawled into Hanabi's bed and held onto each other and kissed. "Naruto, I love you so much. I mean today started out great, then… that happened. I was so scared…"

Naruto held Hanabi tightly and sadly smiled. "I was so scared that I was going to lose you. You mean so much to me, I love you, a lot, I would really hate to lose you in fact I don't even know how I will live without you."

Hanabi smiled at that statement as she brought her head right next to Naruto's and stroked his whisker birthmarks, to which he shivered. "I love you."

Naruto smiled as stroked Hanabi's back. "I love you too Hanabi. For now, let's sleep."

Hanabi nodded and pushed herself into Naruto's arms and smiled as she rested her head next to his.

Naruto noticed that Hanabi was still shaking, but only slightly, so to comfort her, he decided to kiss her, and she of course kissed back. With that, they fell into a peaceful slumber.

Naruto sadly smiled at the memory. Aside from the part with the lion, he'd say that was one of his favorite days. All he needed to do was look back at that moment and he'd smile, at least before Hanabi's untimely death. Now, that memory is one of the cruelest reminders of what he once had, of what he lost.

Naruto felt pangs in his heart as he remembered how Hanabi once was, just for holding him, just for being held by him. Naruto could not help it but shed tears at the memory and curl up. Naruto took a picture from his nightstand and just stared at the bright smile Hanabi had in the picture. It was the picture Naruto and Hanabi had taken during the movie they were watching. Apparently Hitomi thought it was a good idea to secretly take pictures throughout the whole day. Naruto was wrapping his arms around her as she rested her head on his chest. Naruto was looking down at Hanabi and Hanabi just happened to look up. They were so happy in the picture. She was so happy then… so very happy.

Naruto's vision blurred as his tears landed on the picture in a way so it looked like that the Hanabi in the picture was crying as well. Naruto held the picture to his chest as he sniffled. How he wished to hold her once more, how he wished to stroke her back once more, how he wanted to take in a whiff of her natural lilac scent. He wanted hold her tightly and never let go.

It was moments like these that made Naruto want to off him self, just end it. It was much more common along this time of the year but today, the pain in his chest was stronger than it ever was. "Oh, Hanabi… I want to see you smile once more, I want to hear your laugh, I want to hold your body to mine, I want to stroke your back once more, I want to kiss you once more, I want to say "I love you" once more, I want to hear you say "I love you" once more. Hanabi, I don't know if your listening, but those moments, those words, they really meant the most to me. It doesn't matter how many times we did that, it never got boring. Just being with you made me the happiest man in the world and seeing you so happy made me even happier. Seeing you scared or sad made me the saddest man in the world. I love you so much. I miss you! Hanabi, I love you so much!" Naruto could not speak anymore as he was crying too hard.

After a while Naruto finally calmed down as he wiped the picture frame from any tears that landed on it and set it on the table. Hanabi I miss you so much.

Naruto sadly sighed as he made his way to the dining room so he could have his dinner, staring at his necklace the entire time he walked downstairs. Hanabi…

Unbeknownst to Naruto, Hanabi was looking down at the scene and was crying herself. "Naruto… I miss you… I love you as well." Hanabi brought her hand to her chest as it panged in unison with Naruto.

It was silent throughout the entire meal that is until guilt was eating way too much at Naruto and began tearing up. "I'm so sorry father for lashing out at you, I shouldn't have hit you. I mean, I overreacted… I know you must hate for doing something like that! After all you have done for me, I just spit it back at you like it was nothing! I-"

Hiashi looked up into Naruto's eyes. "Naruto."

Naruto immediately stopped as the two stared at each other for a few minutes.

Hiashi frowned. "I should be the one apologizing. I should have told you who your parents were, it was never my right to keep you from that information and you had every right to know. I would have reacted the same way if it were me, for that, I am sorry."

Naruto shook his head, "I know I should just take the apology, but I feel so…"

Hitomi looked up and smiled. "Naruto, it's alright, don't push n the subject, it's in the past."

Naruto broke down at that point. "I hit father in the face and you guys still accept me? I don't deserve this kindness… I… I… just let me sort out how I feel about this whole thing ok?"

Naruto sobbed as he got up and walked to his room. Neji, who had been quiet this whole time spoke up. "Did something happen while I was at school?"

Hinata nodded her head. "Naruto found out who his parents were, Tsunade's going to be so mad about me."

Neji looked shocked. "So you stole Naruto's file?"

Hinata nodded. "They were none other than Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki."

Neji gawked at that revelation. "Really? He is the son of the two most heroic people in the police force?"

Hitomi nodded. "I was shocked, I never knew until your father told me."

Neji looked at the stairs. "So he hit Uncle right in the face? Can't say I wouldn't have done the thing."

Naruto curled up in his covers. They are so kind to me, after doing all that… All of a sudden Naruto fell asleep as white flashed all around him.

Naruto realized that he was in the Spirit Time Realm again and realized he was back at the Zoo with Hanabi.

Naruto immediate got apprehensive and was considering making Hanabi sympathetic to that apprehension, until she began fidgeting. I guess she really does have knack of premonitions. So what am I supposed to do? All of a sudden people began running and Naruto began charging up. Damn it! WhatdoIdo? WhatdoIdo?

The lion then locked eyes with Hanabi and Naruto seriously got scared as the lion began charging and then finally remembered the zookeepers were aiming at the lion with tranquilizer guns. In that split second decision, Naruto decided to guide the darts to their targets.

As soon as the zookeepers pulled their triggers, Naruto unleashed his energy. "Physical Manipulation!"

Time slowed down as Naruto noticed that the darts slightly shifted in their direction and landed in the most effective targets and sighed in relief as time sped up back to normal as his past self saved Hanabi from being crushed by an unconscious lion.

Naruto smiled in victory as hew brought back to the physical plane of existence. Hanabi… I love you so much… I miss you so much… I promise I will save you. Mitsu, maybe I should just play with her for now. If nothing happens within the week, I hand Neji the suicide note, head off to kill the bastard then kill myself. Mitsu… she looks so much like Hanabi… stupid fucking brain se is not Hanabi! You are trying to save Hanabi right now! I'm just going to hang out with her to kill time not because of her resemblance to my love…

Naruto unknowingly began a battle between his projection of Hanabi onto Mitsu and his own will as he slipped into pleasant dreams of Hanabi… or was it Mitsu?

A/N Great chapter, a good mix of angst and fluff. As for the end, what did you all think? Me personally, I thought it was ingenious to have Naruto fight himself and continuously remind himself that Mitsu is not Hanabi. It will certainly get harder for him in the coming week. What will you think happen? Well whatever you guessing, I'm not telling whether you are right or wrong. Alright! Next chapter for Memories of the Past is will be the final chapter!
