Hey again, i had to put this one uptoday tooo, dnt know if its anygood i had a really hard time writing these last two capters. Sorry if the charactsers are OC again, and Selene seems to jump between personalities at the moment... but that's because Tala and her are best friends, so she's more relaxed around him, and her attitude to Hilay is explained... i think...

Chapter 10- Party Time!

The party was in full swing when the Bladebreakers arrived. Mariah, in a short pink party dress, and Hilary, also dressed in a pink dress, were introduced and they were soon talking excitedly about make up and shoes and shopping. The guys left them to it and found a table, quite difficult in the crowded room, and sat down. Ray was soon engrossed in conversation with Lee, Tyson was complaining loudly until he spotted the buffet table, and he had ran over, sending dancing couples flying when they got in his way. Max was bright red and talking to Emily who had came over to say hello.

Kai was sitting quietly in the corner, trying to ignore everybody, but watching everyone all the same. He had spotted the rest of the White Tigers, dressed uncomfortably in suits, rather than their traditional Chinese regalia. The All Starz were mingling throughout the crowd all dressed in expensive suits. And in the far corner he saw Brian and Spencer of the Demolition Boys. Tala was dancing with one of the English Rose girls, and Ian was at the bar, drinking.

Selene was nowhere to be found.

Tala grinned at the girl he was dancing with, a tall blonde, who was smiling at him, then looked around at all the well dressed teenagers and adults who crowded the room. He looked over to find Kai staring at him and he nodded in his direction, before spinning his partner around the room. He looked up as he saw the door at the top of the stairs that lead down to the hall open slightly.

Selene stood at the top of the stairs, looking in desperation for Tala and the rest of her team. She felt uncomfortable standing alone. Especially dressed as she was. She grew even more uncomfortable as she felt more and more eyes turn to her.

Kai stared at Selene when he saw her. She was dressed in a fiery red dress that clung to her figure. It was floor length, although a split to midthigh allowed movement, and the dress itself was of an extremely low cut, that Selene tugged uncomfortably at the sleeves, trying to tug the dress up, but to no avail. Her hair was piled up almost messily upon her head, with gentle waves cascading down her back. Her eyes looked softer than earlier, as she searched the room for someone. Without a word, Kai got to his feet and walked towards her.

Selene saw Kai heading for her, and her eyes filled with panic. She looked frantically and saw Tala who immediately pretended he had not seen her, she rolled her eyes at him and at that moment, Kai met her.

"You look lost." he stated, looking at her.

"It's not exactly the best place for me to be." she replied, smirking slightly.

"Come with me." Kai said and took her hand. Selene held his and he noted how cold her hands were as she tightened her grip on his. He looked questioningly at her, but she didn't look at him, she was biting her lip, and her eyes were a mix of emotions. They reached the bottom of the stairs and Kai brought her over to the table he had been sat at. Everyone seated at the table stared at her and she scowled at them. Then Ray spoke.

"Hey Selene, didn't know you were taking part this year." he said, smiling at her.

Selene gave him a small smile and replied, "Well Ray I'm ready for it this year."

"So how long have you been a member of the Demolition… er Boys." Emily asked, giggling nervously.

"For a long time." Selene said. An uneay silence fell.

"Wow! I didn't realise you knew her Ray!" Lee whispered to the boy next to him, "She's got to be like the hottest person here!"

Ray shook his head at his friend. Lee would not know what hit him if he tried to… too late. Ray smirked as Lee spoke, "So, Selene was it? You know I was just saying how good it is that there are more female bladers this year. And you know, if you need someone to show you the ropes, I'm in room 254." Lee winked at her.

Selene stared at him, and didn't respond. Kai meanwhile was shooting death glares at Lee, who, seeing Kai's look excused himself quickly and made his way over to where Michael was standing.

At that moment, Robert came over to the group and introduced himself to Selene and said, "I'd consider it an honour if you would dance with me, for you are truly the most beautiful creature I have ever set eyes upon."

Max snorted at Robert's flowery speech and laughed when Selene replied, "Get lost."

"But- Your beauty eclipses even the moon, I must dance with you!" Robert said, slightly desperately.

"And I said, Get lost. Now, go before I hurt you." Selene said in a deadly whisper. Robert smirked at her.

"What possible damage could a flower like yourself do to me?"

Stupid question.

Quicker than lightning, Robert was on the floor. Several feet away. He was slightly dazed as he tried to stand. His friends came running to help him. Everyone stared at Selene, who now stood, having just thrown Robert. She saw all the eyes on her and glared at them all before walking away.

"What did you do that for?" Tala asked Selene when she stormed up to him.

Selene scowled up at the older boy and poked him hard in the chest, "You Tala Valkov are a number one ass."

"What did I do?" he asked, grinning at her innocently. Too innocently.

"You left me on my own! You let Kai take me over there! Well done, bozo, so much for taking care of me!" she all but yelled.

"Hey! It's a night off tonight! Besides," he smirked, "I thought I'd let you too have some alone time." he said, and blew her a kiss.

Selene hit him, but not too hard, "Just don't do it again, alright Tal?" she said, giving him puppy dog eyes.

"Alright. I won't ever leave you and your boyfriend alone." Tala laughed and ducked as she swiped at him, and grabbed her hands. Not letting go.

"Tala! Let me go!" Selene whined, trying to pull away from him.

"Make me!" he replied sticking his tongue out at her.

"Nice Tala, real nice." Selene laughed then looked at him suspiciously, "how much have you had to drink?"

"Me? Drink? Never!" said Tala, letting go of her hands and going wide eyed in fake shock. Selene rolled her eyes at him and was about to reply when she heard a voice from behind her say…

"What the hell are you doing here?"

Selene spun around and saw her sister stood there, her brown hair in a smart bun, and her hazel-green eyes furious. Hilary glared at her older sister, and moved closer, "I asked you a question! Answer me!" she said.

Selene said nothing, but looked around trying for an escape. Hilary guessed what she was doing and grabbed her by the arm, "No. You aren't escaping this. You will stay here and tell me why." Selene looked shocked at Hilary's hand and realised her sister had a pretty strong grip.

Still she didn't reply. Where could she start? Yeah, sorry about this Hils, but I've been part of this team for years and I'm part bit beast? yeah right, that would work. Selene smirked at the thought in spite of herself.

"Don't smirk at me! Answer me!" yelled Hilary and slapped her sister across the face. Hilary stepped back, instantly scared and sorry about what she had done. The crowd was quiet, all looking in their direction. Selene stood there, a red handprint rising furiously on her pale face. Selene's eyes flashed golden, and she lunged forward and caught Hilary by the arm before she could move.

"Selene! No!" Tala yelled, grabbing her other arm, to stop her hitting the girl. Selene had started to lose her tempe quite quickly lately.

"Don't ever hit me again." Selene growled, but it was only partly her voice, there was something different about it, but Hilary was too scared to think what it was.

"Tell me why, Le. Please. Tell me why you joined them." Hilary whispered, tears filling the girls eyes.

Selene felt her hear wrench but she ignored it. She answered smoothly, "Because I'm the only one strong enough. That's why Father sent you and Mother away. You were weak. And he hates weakness."

Hilary looked crushed, her shoulders drooped, but she still persisted, "But, you like it at home. You always have fun with us!"

Selene shook her head, hating herself, "Why would I enjoy entertaining some snotty nose preppy cheerleader who's no better than she can be? Who spends her time with traitors and failures? You have a poor choice of companions, Hilary. Traitors (she indicated Kai and Ray) Losers (Max) Geeks (Kenny) and Pigs." she gestured to where Tyson was making his way towards Hilary, to protect her. "A fine bunch I'm sure."

Hilary was crying by now, the Bladebreakers stood clustered around her by now, even Kai who stood shooting questioning looks at Selene who just stared coldly back. "And what about your friends?" Hilary sniffed, "A bunch of evil conniving, egotistical pigs!" Hilary's voice was louder now. Then it went quieter, "You said you loved us! Me and mum! You said you loved us with all you heart!"

Selene snorted, "When I was a misled child of course. How could anyone love you? Father didn't and neither does anyone else. So take my advice Hilary and leave me alone, because next time, I wont control myself." And with that Selene walked away, out of the hall and onto the streets.

Tyson hugged Hilary close as she cried. Max patted her shoulder and Ray and Kenny did their best to comfort her and turn everyone's attentions away from the scene. Kai, however, walked up to Tala.

"I think you'd better leave." he said firmly.

Tala nodded and gestured to the team to leave. When they had, he pulled Kai out of earshot and whispered, "There's something wrong with Selene, Kai. I'm worried about her."

Kai looked up at Tala, genuinely surprised, then said coldly, "I think your team is the problem." and walked away. Tala sighed and left the hall with a heavy heart.

Selene meanwhile was walking around aimlessly. She reached a park within a few minutes and sat down on the swings, truly and utterly depressed. She hated saying that to Hilary but, no matter what Tala had said about taking a night off, she couldn't. She knew they were still being watched. She knew that if the wrong people saw how she really felt about Hilary, and how she tried to protect her, they would use it against her. Selene let a single tear drip down her cheek as she thought about what she had said. And the look on Hilary's face when she had said it.

Selene heard footsteps behind her. She turned and relaxed when she saw Ian behind her. He walked up and put his arms around her and said, "Need someone to talk to about it?"

"Did I do the right thing, Ian?" she asked, "I mean, I feel awful, she's my baby sister. But if she knew…" she broke off.

"I know, it's hard. But at least you've distanced yourself from her." he replied, patting her back awkwardly.

"yeah. Thanks Shorty." she smiled, "Come on, before Tal wonders where we've got to." They both turned and left the park, heading for the hotel.

Am I doing the right thing Angel? Selene asked her bit beast.

You can't risk them hurting her. was the reply she got.
