Hey sorry it's been a while... again lol but here's the next chapter. I'm not sure whether this is good or not, but it was to show the sart of the tournament, and then how upset etc Selene is about everything and mainly to show that Kai and Selene aren't as cold hearted as they seem!
Disclaimer: as before!
Hope you enjoy it!
Chapter 12
It was finally the day of the first battles of the tournament and everyone was nervous. The Demolition Boys had not been seen since the training hall a week ago, but only the a few more suspicious bladers had noticed their absence. Kai, Ray and Lee were the ones who were most suspicious. They often raised the question as to where they were and what they were up to. Convinced that they were planning some evil adventure to sabotage the tournament. So it was no surprise that on the first day, all three were on high alert.
The first teams competing were the English Roses, against the Demolition Boys. Kai sat with his team in the stands, behind the English Roses. The White Tigers were next to them. Ray and Mariah sat side by side, grinning stupidly at each other. Kai rolled his eyes at his team mate's behaviour and watched as the two teams entered the arena below to great cheers from the crowd. The English Roses were all laughing as they watched the boys approach from the opposite side of the area. Kai was watching Selene, who stood at Tala's right. She looked stunning in a white skirt that reached her knees and flew out behind her and an equally flowy white top, that showed her toned, mark free stomach. She was looking coldly around her though, her frosty stare contrasting her elegant clothing. The boys all had emotionless masks on as they surveyed the other team, none of them said a word.
"Welcome, ladies and gents, boys and girls to the opening match of this years elite tournament!" introduced Jazzman. Cheers greeted this statement and he waited for them to calm down before speaking again, "Now, today's match is between the beautiful English Roses and the newly reformed Demolition Boys!" more cheers, and a few laughs and wolf whistles this time. "So, without further ado, welcome our first contenders: Brian and Elspeth!"
Brian stepped forward and walked towards the dish. A blonde girl approached nervously from the other side. "Hey!" she said, smiling nervously. Brian merely grunted, and her smile faltered.
Needless to say the match went quickly. Brian won within minutes of launching. He attacked mercilessly, the girl never stood a chance. Elspeth stood, looking down in dismay at the still blade, laying there. Brian recalled his blade and returned to his team as she stood there. Finally she took up her blade and returned to her team who hugged her and consoled her.
The other matches went much the same way. Within minutes two other bladers from the English Roses had been defeated. And not once had the Demolition Boys called on their bit beasts. Ray and Kai looked at each other. The Demolition Boys had definitely gotten stronger.
Throughout all three matches Selene had sat on the bench with Tala, seemingly engrossed in a very interesting bit of floor just in front of her. Inside she was nervous though. She wasn't permitted to play until the later rounds. "When her secret could be revealed" were the exact words she had been told. So she was left watching her team mates battle their way up the board, sitting happily on the bench without a chance to show what she could do.
Tala looked round and saw that Selene was fed up. He touched her shoulder and she looked up at him. "Next time, I promise Le." he said quietly and Selene grinned and nodded. Then, without another word the team left the arena.
The next two days saw the other four teams battle.
The White Tigers and the All Starz went first. The White Tigers won, though barely. They lost one match and had struggled to win the others. The next group were the Majestics and the Bladebreakers. The Bladebreakers won easily, although Kai had a go at Max for drawing with Enrique. So there were now only three undefeated teams left. The Bladebreakers naturally, the White Tigers and the Demolition Boys. The English Roses lost their matches with both the Majestics and the All Starz and were eliminated. The next to go were the Majestics when they lost a tough battle against the All Starz. The last matches were announced. The Demolition Boys against the White Tigers and the Bladebreakers against the All Starz.
That night Tyson held a late night celebration for his team and the White Tigers. No one invited the Demolition Boys. So now they were all sat in Tyson's Dojo laughing and chatting. Ray and Mariah had wandered off an hour ago. When Tyson asked where Ray had disappeared to, Lee just laughed and said that Mariah had missed him soo much since they had been separated.
Now it was late and the two teams were sat quieter now. Mariah and Ray were sat cuddling in the corner and Hilary was leaning against Tyson's side, who had a protective arm around her. They were all chatting quietly when Lee suddenly asked.
"So Kai, what is it with Selene?"
Kai glared at him, "I don't know what you mean."
"Well, Kai, whenever you see her you stare at her as if you're confused or something. Trust me I see these things." said Mariah grinning at him.
"She does have a point Kai, why do you keep watching her?" Kevin said smirking at him.
Kai gave him a death-glare, and left the dojo, walking out into the night alone.
"Was it something we said?" asked Mariah, worriedly.
"No, Kai's still sore that she left without saying goodbye when she visited Hilary." Tyson replied, shrugging.
"You know her?" Lee asked Hilary, suddenly completely interested in the conversation again.
"Of course I do, she's my sister." Hilary mumbled the last part, frowning again.
"No way!" Mariah exclaimed, "Wow, you two are totally different!"
Hilary grinned slightly, "yeah I know."
"So tell me, Hilary, do you know anyway in which we could defeat her if we end up facing her?" Lee asked.
Hilary grew uncomfortable, "I don't get on with her much and I had no idea she was even on a team, let alone that one. Can we stop talking about it now?"
"Hilary's right. We have a few days before our next matches. Let's just spend that chilling out and training." said Max diplomatically, bringing the conversation to a close. Soon everybody was sleeping peacefully, dreaming of winning the tournament and other things.
Kai meanwhile, was still out. He had felt uncomfortable when the issue of Selene had been brought up and had decided to leave to prevent having to confront his own feelings. Personally he didn't know why he always watched her. He told himself it was just the need to observe opponents. Especially ones who hadn't yet bladed in the tournament. Standing alone by a river, he found himself wondering why she hadn't bladed. What were the Demolition Boys planning? He tried to shrug this off, but couldn't help feeling that something was wrong.
As he was thinking all this, he heard shouting from the trees behind him. Without a second thought, Kai ran in the direction of the shouting and saw a strange black light coming from ahead of him. It disappeared just as he entered the clearing. He looked around in surprise, finding that the area was empty. As he turned to walk away he heard a twig snap behind him and spun around defensively, coming face to face with… a beyblade?
As he reached down to touch it, it shot back into the trees and was caught by Selene who walked out from the cover of the dense trees. Kai was surprised to see she looked exhausted and slightly ill. She was dressed simply in black ¾ lengths and strap top. However, whilst the clothing was intact, the skin that was bare seemed to be an almost translucent appearance, her eyes seemed slightly golden and there were bruises, cuts and grazes all over her arms, stomach and even a black eye.
Selene stared at him for a moment, then her eyes seemed to revert to their original colour. Kai put this down to a trick of the light and stared back. When Selene's eyes cleared she smiled and said, "Kai."
With that word, Kai was hit by dozens of memories from his younger days with Selene, and even a recent memory of meeting her for the first time at the airport in years. The anger, hurt and surprise on her face as she glared him down. Then he was back, staring into her hazel-green eyes.
"Selene." he replied quietly.
"What are you doing out here?" Selene was still smiling happily at him.
"I could ask you the same question." he said, raising an eyebrow.
Selene laughed, "I was training. But then you came along and interrupted me."
"I'll let you get back to it." Kai said coldly and turned away from her.
Selene's face fell and she cried out, "Kai, don't go!"
Kai turned back at the almost childish tone in her voice and was surprised to see she was now sat on the floor, her bottom lip trembling as she reached forward begging him not to go.
"I'm scared, Kai. I don't wanna go back." she whispered, shaking all over now. Kai walked over and knelt down beside her.
"I don't know what game you're playing, Selene, but I'm not interested." he said and got up. To his surprise, Selene started shaking even more and she was curled up into a ball, breathing getting quicker. "Selene, are you alright?" he asked, kneeling beside her again.
"No! I don't wanna… I cant… Kai, help me…" she began repeating the phrases over and over again. Concerned, Kai leaned over and picked her up in his arms. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, still shaking.
"What's going on, Le?" Kai whispered in her ear as he took her out of the trees, to the side of the river. "Tell me, what's going on."
"Cant… hurts… Kai… help…" Selene was speaking faster now, shaking violently. Kai stared at her, confused and worried as she carried on almost shouting now, "where are you?… gone?… Don't let them!… Kai!… Dranzer!… Wolborg!… Drigger!… Draciel… Great Dragoon… Please… Not Hilary… me… leave her…"
"Selene!" Kai shouted, trying to bring her back to normality. But to no avail. She just continued phrases again and again. One occurring more than the rest "Kai… help!" By now there were tears streaming down her face, and Kai was doing all he could to try and calm her down.
Suddenly, Tala appeared at a run from the trees. He ran over to them and pushed Kai out of the way. He placed a hand on Selene's forehead and spoke softly in a language Kai didn't understand.
"Yar-met Arhoo Soot. Yar-met Arhoo Soot" Tala was whispering and gradually Selene became quiet, though she was still shaking. Tala was the one muttering now, "Stupid! Why did you do that Le? Why?"
"What the hell is wrong with her Tala?" Kai yelled. Tala looked up and realised he was there. He looked uneasy, and stood up slowly. "Tell me Tala, what has Boris done to her?" Kai had grabbed Tala's collar by now and was angry that Boris had obviously done something to Selene and angry that he hadn't been there to stop it.
"It's none of your business Kai. Besides, this isn't Boris's fault. No, this she did on her own." Tala was shaking his head. Looking down worriedly at Selene.
"Yeah right, that's not normal, what is going on?" Kai yelled.
"You're right, Kai, it's not normal. But she'll be fine if I can get her back quickly. Trust me on this Kai, the longer she's out here, the worse she'll get." Kai looked the other boy in the eye and realised he was telling the truth. Nodding, he let go of Tala. Tala scooped Selene up in his arms and nodded to Kai then, before he ran off into the night said, "I'm sorry I couldn't help her Kai. I'm sorry." Then they were gone, disappeared into the trees.
Kai stood alone, more confused than ever. What did Tala mean, he was sorry? Sorry for what? Why? What had Kai expected him to do? But more prominent on his mind was:
What had happened to Selene?
Tala made sure he was out of sight and earshot of Kai before setting Selene down on the floor. With one last look around he launched his own blade and, whilst it span, quickly launched Selene's blade too. When the two blades were spinning together, Tala called out Wolborg and ordered the wolf to attack the blade. As Wolborg did so for the third time, a black light emitted from Selene's blade.
Tala looked down at where Selene lay, still motionless. With a sigh he said, "Wolborg, bring Angel out." the great wolf nodded once, and dove into the other blade. Within moments, Wolborg re-emerged, and Tala could feel his frustration as the wolf said:
Angel is not there.
Tala nodded that he'd heard. He'd suspected as much, then said, "Ok, Wolborg. Bring her out." and gestured to where Selene lay. The great beast nodded sadly and launched himself at Selene, entering her skin and disappearing. Tala knelt down and gripped Selene's hand tightly, watching her for signs.
All of a sudden, she grabbed his hand and sat bolt upright, yelling as pain shook her thin frame. Tala held onto her tighter as Wolborg re-emerged, dragging Angel from the girl. Selene's face was set, and there were tears of agony pouring down her face.
After what seemed like and age, Wolborg and Angel returned to their blades, and Selene's eyes closed. Tala scooped up both the blades, putting them in his pocket, and sat beside Selene, waiting for her to wake up. Soon she opened her eyes, and she jumped up, as though shocked.
"How're you feeling?" Tala asked.
"I… I feel horrible Tala. What happened?" she asked, her throat hoarse.
"I could ask you the same question." he replied, looking sternly at her. Selene looked down, embarrassed.
"I was training." she said glumly.
"With Angel?"
"Yes." pause, "I'm sorry Tal. I just thought-"
"You just thought? Do you have any idea what would have happened if Wolborg hadn't called me? You could have been lost, Selene! How stupid can you get? You know the rules! If I'm not around, or Wolborg isn't, do you know what can happen? You lose yourself! That's why you are linked to me and Wolborg. So you don't get taken over! It's dangerous!" Tala was ranting now. Then he stopped to take a breath and said in a more empathetic voice, "Why did you do it?"
Selene didn't look at him when she answered, "Because I wanted too. I thought if I used Angel to take over, then…" she swallowed before continuing, "then I wouldn't have to come back."
Tala was struck by this, "What do you mean?"
"Isn't it obvious? Tala! I don't want to be here anymore! If I was lost, then Hilary would be safe, you would be safe and I wouldn't hurt Kai anymore! I'm worthless Tala, you know that and I know that! You should have left me! I don't care anymore, Tal, don't you understand that? I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE ANY MORE!" she yelled at him.
Tala shook her by the shoulders, "See sense! Do you really think that they would leave Hilary alone if you were gone? No. They'd do to her what they did to you. As for me, I care about you and am sworn to protect you. And as for Kai? Yes, you're hurting him now, but just think… alive you have the chance to explain things when you can. But gone? He'll blame himself. If anything, you've now given him even more questions now. He's the one that found you. You almost blurted out everything, but to him it was just gibberish."
Selene looked stunned as she looked up at Tala. Then she hung her head, "You know, Angel wouldn't let me? She refused to take over completely! We were fighting, but I was winning and then… I don't remember." then she hugged the taller boy, "I'm sorry, Tal."
Tala hugged her back, then said, "Let's just hope they never find out what happened." Then he pushed her away slightly, "Now, if you're ready, shall we go? You do have a match coming up you know."
Selene laughed and they walked off back to their hotel room.
Well another one done.. next time will be where Selene actually gets to fight and everyone gets shocked... i hope anyway... nmaybe a while though because i have a holiday coming up and am gonna be pretty busy! anyways let me know if u like this and if it was ok..
