A/N: Set early season 2, before 'Trinity' when Atlantis isn't quite home for Ronon yet. Ronon/Teyla

He found himself oddly attracted to this woman.
When he had been betrothed, young, for life was somewhat short in the face of the wraith- he had learned she had different views of love than his, indeed, his world's, as she was not Satedan. That was glaringly obvious, with her small form and unconscious delicacy. He had adored her, but thought her whimsical ideas of love a little strange.
He was not one whose heart would rule him- the concept that one person would become the center of your universe; that to be parted would be a physical hurt, was difficult. Though, to him, she would eternally be his petite companion.
But even if she were still alive, if things could go back to the way they were- things could not go back to the way they were. He had changed. His brutality would shock her, Melena, the healer.
There are some things that can never be undone.

Then he found himself looking for her when he entered a room- watching her face for her smile when another was joking- thinking of when he would see her again. When he heard she was heading offworld, alone, to trade for her people he wanted to follow.
But he was not attracted to her initially- it had been a strange transformation.
She was beautiful, for certain, even dressed as a soldier. The equal of him in their matches, he the stronger and she the quicker. He fought her by day, and admired the grace of her attacks. One day he simply parried, in order to admire her the more. She was a warrior.
He saw the diplomacy, her boundless compassion, her patience, her heart. She was a Leader: and he was an ex-runner of no certain home. Despair was a feeling not unknown to him, but it did come as a surprise.
That he found himself attracted to Teyla Emmagan like a moth to a flame, a center that kept him grounded.
A/N: Maybe Melena was right after all. I can't separate Ronon from Melena in fics of his point of view, she is still a fundamental part of his character.
